EMMERDALE TURNS 50: MY FAVOURITE PAST CHARACTERS

Welcome to a blog post to celebrate Emmerdale turning 50 next Sunday (16th October). I decided back in March ahead of the anniversary to share my Top 10 characters (the 5 at the top are my current favourites before we go to the past characters) which I have to admit has taken a LONG time to agree (and even now I'm little still unsure they are in the right order ha). Liv Dingle (Flaherty)  is a character from her very first scene I have absolutely loved exploring especially as she came in as such a fiery teenage character was took Robert Sugden's wallet as Aaron Dingle met his little half-sister for the very first time. Over the past 6 years, Isobel Steele has been able to have many wonderful storylines and the opportunity to show what a fantastic actress she is with her epilepsy diagnosis, her issue with alcohol especially as she struggled to deal with what happened in the barn on Paul Ashdale and Mandy Dingle's wedding day in 2021, her asexuality along with her relationshi...

SINGLE REVIEW - ERIN KINSEY - REASON FOR LEAVING

Image
Today (Friday 7th October) will see singer-songwriter,  Erin Kinsey  release her brand new single, Reason For Leaving. Photo Credit: Robby Stevens Reason For Leaving has soft instrumental throughout that compliments Erin's soft vocal mixed with her emotional lyrics from the start. The journey that Reasons For Leaving takes you on is a rather personal and emotional one that I really appreciated hearing allowing for us fans to get to hear another side of who Erin is as an artist, whilst also delivering such a heartfelt song. The chorus is filled with much emotion that you can hear all the complex reasons for leaving that certain relationship that can also go with friendships these days. The honesty is something that hit me even more so with this song. Reason For Leaving may appear an upbeat song but mixed with the amazing songwriting from Erin there is something that is so magical with this mix. The second connected with the message delivery of the song fantastically as the poig...

EP REVIEW - JADE HELLIWELL - WOMAN

Image
Today (Friday 7th October) will see British singer-songwriter,  Jade Helliwell  release her brand new EP, Woman. Woman features 5 songs. Photo Credit: Tamography Woman I Am  starts with an soft guitar instrumental which compliments Jade's crisp vocal perfectly. The opening verse sees Jade's honesty shining through right from the very start that got me really appreciating the lyrics thanks to the attention to detail that many of us listeners will be able to relate with. I like how Jade isn't afraid to speak her mind within this song - Jade, you are a strong willed woman! The chorus features many funky upbeat lyrics with a funky instrumental that brings the song into it's own allowing for the listeners to hear Jade's new side of music which I have to say is the best move for her development. There is something so unique and special about this song that leaves me wanting more every time I hear the songs lyrics. The second verse continues with Jade's softer vocals g...

SINGLE REVIEW - KAYLEE BELL - SMALL TOWN FRIDAY NIGHTS

Image
Today (Friday 7th October) will see New Zealand born singer-songwriter,  Kaylee Bell  release her brand new single, Small Town Friday Nights. Photo Taken by Me at C2C 2019 Small Town Friday Nights  starts with the signature Kaylee Bell sound that I adore hearing and the reason that my love for Kaylee's music grew. The first verse is full of those moments that you would only get living in a small town which I caught myself relating with. The honesty within the songwriting is something that gripped me right from the very start till the very end. The chorus is full of a pop country style that I enjoy within songs full of meaning like this one. The fact that many of the lyrics are relatable makes it even more special especially heading into the second verse. The more I hear the chorus the more I love and appreciate the lyrics. The guitar breakdown is beautiful and allows for the listeners to hear about incredible Kaylee is as a guitar player. Small Town, Friday Nigh...

ALBUM REVIEW - KELSEA BALLERINI - SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Image
Last Friday (23rd September), US singer-songwriter,  Kelsea Ballerini  released her brand new album, Subject To Change. Subject To Change is made up of 15 songs. Subject To Change is an heartfelt song that is full of a lot of honest lyrics that stays throughout allowing us listeners know about what a raw and emotional journey, she has been on over the past 2 years and how growing up and growing is ok! The chorus is full of a lot of vulnerability as well as being confident at times thanks to the empowering lyrics that Kelsea has written within this gorgeous song. Growing up as we get older is ok and things changing is OK believe in yourself! The instrumental is beautifully timed complimenting the songs catchy lyrics which many listeners will appreciate hearing. The Little Things  has a quirky, sassy, and fun side that caught my ears alongside the upbeat instrumental which for me is something I wasn't expecting. I really enjoy the take of the lyrics on the first verse than...

WHY THIS WEEK'S EPISODES WERE GREAT FOR MILLIE GIBSON'S FINAL SCENES

Image
During this week's Coronation Street episodes, viewers saw Kelly Neelan's final scenes air after 4 years since Millie Gibson first arrived on screen.  During the past 4 years, Kelly has grown as a character and been through so much and us viewers have seen Millie grow and shine as a talented young actress - which saw her win Best Young Actress at the British Soap Awards 2022. Sunday aired what should have been Friday's episode which perfectly set up for this week's scheduled episodes for Kelly Neelan's final week on the Weatherfield cobbles as Sharon returned revealing the truth about Gary Windass and his involvement in her father, Rick's death. Photograph by Mark Bruce/ ITV At the start of the week , viewers saw Rick Neelan appear as a figure in Kelly's imagination as she was thinking about revenge  - I loved the dialogue as it really set the week's episodes up well allowing us viewers to see another side of Kelly's character. The moment Kelly looke...

EMMERDALE REVIEW - AMELIA AND NOAH GO OFFICIAL AS DAN PUSHED HIS DAUGHTER AWAY

Image
It's been a while since I've done a review of Emmerdale episodes, but based it on two characters due to people loving them, and myself enjoying their scenes this week, I am back. Sunday aired what should have been Friday 16th's episode that saw Noah Dingle offered an apprenticeship by Marcus Dean,  that was fantastic and belief he needed , but what was good to see was the interaction between Noah and Amelia Spencer as an apology came from Noah, which you could see he 100% meant with us, viewers knowing that Noah only dumped Amelia cos of what her father, Dan said. The belief that Amelia has in Noah shows just how much she cares about him. Photo Credit: ITV/ Emmerdale The week started with Amelia and Dan Spencer getting ready to move back into Dale View after Gabby Thomas allowed them to after what happened with her son, Thomas Tate, a few months back whilst Amelia was looking after him causing her to realise that she was in fact pregnant.  Dan needs to remember that Amelia...

INTERVIEW WITH MILLIE GIBSON AS SHE TALKS ABOUT HER CHARACTER, EXIT, AND MORE...

Image
This is a bittersweet post as this interview is Millie Gibson's last one who as we all know is leaving Coronation Street as the wonderful Kelly Neelan after 4 years in the role. At the start of the week, It's Aadi and Kelly's engagement party. So can you tell us how Kelly really does feel about Aadi? "I think she's completely beside with him. I think she's finally found really good morals in a man, and she's never seen that before, especially in her past, with obviously her dad, who's programmed to love her and to take care of her and to guide her, and to, you know, be her absolute rock, and she didn't have that in the end, because he ended up being a liar, and I think, with like Corey, who I keep blind to her as well. So I think Aadi is the only trustworthy person that she's met, and it's she's really really fallen hard for him. So I think she's very in love at the minute." Do you think that Aidi and Kelly make a good match? ...

SINGLE REVIEW - KYLIE MORGAN - BRIDESMAIDS

Image
Today (Friday 16th September) will see US newcomer singer-songwriter,  Kylie Morgan  release her brand new single, Bridesmaids. Bridesmaids has an upbeat instrumental throughout which becomes a little softer as the song continues. Both verses of Bridesmaids are beautiful as they see Kylie giving thanks to her closest friends as she asks them to be apart of her special day! The reasons that Kylie gives for each other her friends is just beautiful showing so much appreciate for every single one of them. The lyrics are incredibly precious ones that continue to have a lot of a appreciation in them, showing how grateful she is for each and every single one of their friendships - the amount of love that Kylie has is fantastic. Kylie's crisp vocal tone is stunning throughout adding this beautiful layer to the song that is full of female empowerment! You can follow Kylie on her Social Media Twitter Facebook Instagram YouTube

SINGLE REVIEW - ASHLEY COOKE - BACK IN THE SADDLE

Image
Breakthrough Country Singer-Songwriter,  Ashley Cooke  is set to release her brand new single, Back In The Saddle out Today (Friday 16th September). Ashley recently signed with Big Loud Records/ Back Blocks Music. Photo Credit: Robby Klein Back In The Saddle  opens up with a soft guitar instrumental that honestly sets the tone of the song up wonderfully complimenting the song as a whole. The opening verse sees Ashley's crisp vocal at the forefront that stays throughout with some heartfelt lyrics shining through thanks to Ashley's beautiful and honest songwriting skills. The attention to detail is fantastic especially within the second verse. The chorus is emotionally raw and full of a mix of emotions that blend perfectly in with every single verse. The lyrics are super catchy and are full of such a journey that I caught myself crying a little too. The way in which Back In The Saddle is written you can hear so many personal moments making it an even more special song. The ...

SINGLE REVIEW - JESS AND THE BANDITS - EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE

Image
Today (Friday 9th September) will see US singer-songwriting band,  Jess and The Bandits  released their brand new single, Emotional Baggage. Photo Credit: Christopher Peavey Emotional Baggage  starts with a rocky guitar instrumental compliments Jess' fun upbeat tone. I adore the fact that the first verse is full of fun with lyrics that will have you bobbing along the classic Jess and The Bandits style which is very much needed as I have missed this vibe so much, even more than I realised. I love the honesty within the chorus, and you can hear how much the lyrics have a personal and emotional meaning to Jess and that shines through making it even more special. The lyrical balance is absolutely perfectly timed. The second verse is the one that I caught myself listening to extremely closely especially as it headed into the chorus once again, leading to a little emotional moment for me. Ahead of the the final verse, the instrumental break down was fantastic and mixed with the...

WHAT'S NEXT FOR NOAH AND AMELIA? *MY OPINION*

Following on from Wednesday's episode (31st August) where viewers of the Yorkshire Dales soap saw Noah Dingle break things off with his girlfriend, Amelia Spencer following her father, Dan Spencer's words of advice at the end of Tuesday's episode (30th August). We all knew that Dan and Kerry Wyatt weren't ever going to accept Noah despite everything - but now I am waiting for the showdown. With Noah being the one person since Charity Tate discovered her pregnancy back at the end of July that Amelia has had to support her. Amelia has had to put up with Samson and his poor attitude to the whole situation. Samson needs to learn to respect the woman's decision as it mostly affects them. As much as Lydia Dingle's behaviour has been full on its lovely to see the caring side, even if it is sometimes overbearing - she means well. One thing, I saw this week was the way that Amelia appreciated Noah's words and that she had the confidence to open up despite feeling vul...

SINGLE REVIEW - TENILLE TOWNES - THE LAST TIME

Image
Today (Friday 2nd September) will see Canadian singer-songwriter,  Tenille Townes  release her brand new single, The Last Time. Photo Credit: Lauren Dunn The Last Time  sees Tenille opening up with a guitar instrumental which compliments Tenille's stunning soft vocals allowing for the perfect mix of lyrics throughout. There is something that is full of honesty that I couldn't help but stop and think of the lyrics and there beautiful meaning - it's full of a lot emotion which you could hear in Tenille's vocal tone. The chorus has a very nostalgic feel upon hearing the chorus, I took a little emotional especially has it headed into the second verse about grandparents (and having sadly lost one recently it bought up a few memories). You can definitely hear how about the song and what the song/ it's lyrics mean to Tenille and she finds the perfect vocal tone for every single emotion. The final verse is of a much softer tone that was very much needed breaking the song up...

EMMERDALE REVIEW AS DAISY CAMPBELL PROVES WHAT A SHINING STAR SHE IS!

During this week's episodes, Emmerdale viewers saw some really emotional scenes for Amelia Spencer upon the discovery of her pregnancy during a row with Noah and Samson Dingle in the village. It was from Tuesday's episode that Amelia really started to struggle hiding her pregnancy secret, it was nice to see the teenage side of her coming through which was brilliantly showcased through various parts of the week.  One thing, I really liked was how nervous Noah was about seeing Amelia as he helped her out with money for a prom dress as they admitted their feelings for one another. It was really nice to see the caring side of the character after his recent struggles. It was mid week that Daisy Campbell tap into her characters sassy side as Harriet Finch and Dan questioned her, along with her maternal side as she headed to her baby scan with a supportive Noah by her side. It was nice to see the two characters being there for one another especially Noah when Amelia needed him when s...

GIG REVIEW - PRISCILLA BLOCK - THE LEXINGTON *HEADLINE LONDON SHOW*

Image
On Wednesday evening (24th August), I was kindly given the opportunity to attend Priscilla Block  headline show at The Lexington in London. Priscilla for me as been an artist, I have always wanted to see and I was so excited to finally be seeing her! *Ticket given in exchange for a review* Photo Credit: Logen Christopher Priscilla started her set with  Welcome To The Block Party  which for me was the perfect opener. Priscilla was full of energy that instantly saw the audience have a fantastic time which whilst throughout the evening! Priscilla then went on to sing Ever Since You Left  had the best reaction and one for me that I caught myself to listening rather closely - the energy was so high,  My Bar  had the best reaction with everyone singing along for that was so beautiful to be apart off,  Gotten Good  which was beautiful and I loved how the audience in front and behind me were loving her and were listening to the lyrics whilst dancing and s...

INTERVIEW WITH DAISY CAMPBELL ABOUT WHAT'S TO COME FOR AMELIA

Amelia Spencer has been on a rollercoaster ever since she discovered she was pregnant, opening up to Charity Dingle, and now she is being supported by Noah Dingle. Daisy Campbell recently spoke about what's to come for her character during next week's episodes and hints for the future. Talking recently with about how Amelia is feeling about her pregnancy at this point, Daisy commented: "I think she's still having that anxiety and still that vulnerable feeling because obviously she hasn't told anyone else, bar Charity, Noah and Mackenzie, but I feel like she feels a little less on edge because she's got that support from Noah and Charity and mainly Noah because she's like, let him know about everything. She's opened up to him about everything. So I feel like she feels less on edge when she's got Noah there, because she's got that support. But I still feel that there's still a bit of anxiety around her and her dad and Kerry, because obviously ...
