DEBUT SELF-TITLED EP REVIEW - PRISCILLA BLOCK

Today (Friday 30th April) will see US singer-songwriter,  Priscilla Block  release her brand debut EP which is self-titled. Priscilla Block features 6 songs. Wish You Were The Whiskey  has an steady guitar instrumental to start setting the tone of the song off wonderfully. The first verse sees Priscilla's jolly vocal range at the forefront which is something I am loving to hear. I love the fun side of the lyrics, and the song in general as you can hear this beautiful story being told within the most simplest of lyrics. There is something magical about Priscilla's vocal range. The chorus features some fun and catchy lyrics that I couldn't help but want to say along too. Priscilla's vocal throughout is one of purity. The lyrics are stunningly heartfelt as the chorus develops allowing the listeners in on a past experience from her life. The second verse of Wish You Were The Whiskey continues with allowing the listeners to hear a different side of Priscilla's vocal rang

SINGLE REVIEW - LISA WRIGHT - EVERYTHING CHANGES

Image
Today (Friday 29th April) will see British singer-songwriter,  Lisa Wright  release her brand new single, Everything Changes. Photo Credit: Tim Dunk Everything Changes  sees a soft guitar instrumental start the song off in a beautiful way that from the moment Lisa starts singing you hear how well they compliment one another. The first verse opens Everything Changes with Lisa's softer vocal at the forefront with her soulful meaningful vocals that you can hear so much vulnerability within which is something many listeners will like listening to because the lyrics are ones many people will be able to relate with. Everything Changes' chorus features some life changing messages about how love can change your direction in life for better and for worse - which is why this song for me has the perfect blend of positivity, and sadness that is exactly what happens in our lives. Lisa's vocals are special throughout, and you can hear how much the lyrics mean to her. The second verse of

SINGLE REVIEW - ONE TRICK PONY - A NEW HOPE

Image
This Friday (30th April) will see British Emerging singing-songwriting duo,  One Trick Pony  made up of Georgia Lennon, and Michael Pickering  as they release their brand new single, A New Hope. A New Hope was written sorely by Michael Pickering. One Trick Pony have partnered with Together We Stand UK with all proceeds from the release going directly to Women's Aid. Photo: The Headshot Box Design: One Trick Pony A New Hope  starts with a darker sounding piano instrumental which works perfectly throughout as it says so much about the song before any lyrics have been sung. The first verse sees Georgia's vocal range at the forefront that are wonderfully emotive as the lyrics take you on this journey which makes for breath-taking listening thanks to the attention to detail within the lyrics that allow for so much vulnerability. Georgia's vocal changes on many occasions that is incredibly relevant to  allow another side of the song  to come across in the most wonderful way as yo

SINGLE REVIEW - HALLE KEARNS - PLANS

Image
This Friday (16th April) will see US Country-Pop singer-songwriter,  Halle Kearns  release her brand new single, Plans. Plans is the follow up single to her debut EP, Finally released in December 2020. Photo Credit: Kelsey Maggart Plans  starts with a mandolin instrumental alongside a guitar and some other percussion that happens to give a wonderful introduction as it wasn't something I was expecting, but it works so well throughout Plans. The first verse sees Halle's soft, crisp vocal tone at the forefront of plans which sees a personal connection to the lyrics that I have to say works beautifully with the sentimental feel to the song. I caught myself relating back to the past 12 months as I was listening to this song, and wondering if it was written about the past year?! The chorus of Plans features some of the most wonderfully gorgeous lyrics with a little bit more of an upbeat feel which I caught myself being able to connect with mostly thanks to the pure honesty wit

DEBUT ALBUM REVIEW - LOUISE PARKER - LIVING IN SILVER LININGS

Image
This Friday (16th April) will see British singer-songwriter,  Louise Parker  who's based in Essex release her debut album, Living In Silver Linings. Photographer - Tom Humble Hair & Make-up Artist - Sophie Daly Graphic Design - Daniel Pitts Stylist - Mandy Parker Rear View Mirror   (re-imagined)  starts with guitar instrumental which I instantly loved and suits the song perfectly. The first verse of Rear View Mirror is quickly given to us and showcases Louise's wonderful vocal range and you can hear from within the lyrics that Louise is very passionate about the lyrics she is singing. The chorus is my favourite part of the song. The uptempo within the Louise's vocal range is fantastic and something that gives this remake of the single another lease of life. The second verse of Rear View Mirror continues with showcases more of Louise's wonderful vocal range this time with her louder vocals which was complimented with her guitar playing skills giving the song a little

DEBUT ALBUM REVIEW - LAUREN HALL - BROKE MY HEART JUST ENOUGH

Image
This Friday (9th April) will see up and coming US singer-songwriter,  Lauren Hall  release her debut album, Broke My Heart Just Enough. Broke My Heart Just Enough is made up of 7 songs.   Photo Taken by Ricky Hartzog Graphics by Port City Media Co Just Like I Knew  starts with an upbeat guitar and drum instrumental which I have to admit brings in so much to the song despite not hearing Lauren's vocals until a little while later. The first verse of Just Like I Knew sees Lauren's soft vocals whilst showcasing her wonderful vocal tone which happens to allow the lyrics to come through beautifully the attention to detail is perfect. The chorus features some wonderfully catchy lyrics that I couldn't help but want to sing and dance along with despite not being able to do either. You can hear so much vulnerable from Lauren within the lyrics which for me is unique, and shows everyone who Lauren is as an artist. You can hear Lauren has written Just Like I Knew about a situation she

WHY THIS WEEK'S EMMERDALE EPISODES HAVE BEEN AMAZING - EPISODE REVIEWS

This week's Emmerdale episodes have seen flash-forward moments at the start of the episodes between Monday and Thursday where viewers saw three hospital beds being occupied leaving us viewers guessing. With a doctor recording a time of death for a certain villager that then sees the villagers grieving with the loss. The writers for the week are; (in order) Adam Sales, Sarah Bagshaw, Andrew Kirk, Jo Maris/ Chris Gill, and Samantha Doland de Vaux - what a great job these writers have done on these episodes! David Beauchamp - BRAVO, I have nothing but praise for all your hard work this week. It's hard to believe that Thursday's stunt was filmed with Covid restrictions in place, everyone in the art department deserves a massive pat on the back - the attention to detail this week has been amazing. *Sorry, it's a LONG blog. I wrote this as I was watching the episodes.* Monday's episode  was the episode that set the scene for the rest of the week with the flash forward, wh

Next Monday (5th April) will see UK based singer-songwriter from Birmingham,  Charlotte Young  release her brand new EP,  Coffee and Conversations . About the EP, Charlotte says:  “My second EP brings more tales, a collective of country themes that are familiar from the first record but more adult with each song. I wanted to showcase these songs as if they were conversations, a story to be told with each verse. Mixing together country feel and instruments, storytelling and a whole lot of heart, Coffee and Conversations captures me as an artist and hopefully makes you all feel like we’re having a coffee and a catch-up.” Photo Credit: Scott Wesley Remedy  has a guitar instrumental giving off a soft sound. The first verse sees Charlotte's soft vocal at the forefront allowing the lyrics a stand out moment right from the start in a way that I couldn't help but enjoy listening too. The lyrics were perfectly chosen for the context of the single. The chorus of Remedy features many wond
