WHY THIS WEEK'S EMMERDALE EPISODES HAVE BEEN AMAZING - EPISODE REVIEWS

This week's Emmerdale episodes have seen flash-forward moments at the start of the episodes between Monday and Thursday where viewers saw three hospital beds being occupied leaving us viewers guessing. With a doctor recording a time of death for a certain villager that then sees the villagers grieving with the loss.

The writers for the week are; (in order) Adam Sales, Sarah Bagshaw, Andrew Kirk, Jo Maris/ Chris Gill, and Samantha Doland de Vaux - what a great job these writers have done on these episodes!
David Beauchamp - BRAVO, I have nothing but praise for all your hard work this week.

It's hard to believe that Thursday's stunt was filmed with Covid restrictions in place, everyone in the art department deserves a massive pat on the back - the attention to detail this week has been amazing.

*Sorry, it's a LONG blog. I wrote this as I was watching the episodes.*

Monday's episode was the episode that set the scene for the rest of the week with the flash forward, where viewers saw three Emmerdale residents in hospital beds following a 999 call from Jimmy King. I loved how the camera angle took them back to the present day with a scene from Mandy Dingle, and Paul Ashdale which Vinny Dingle walks in. The fact that Vinny was open with his dad about how much he misses Liv is something he should have been supportive about, not shutting his son down. The fact that Liv then bumped into Vinny which saw them have a chat for the first time since their dumping - I love how much they still care for one another! The fact that Jimmy King fits into this week's episode wonderfully is something, I am loving to see as a viewer as well as Aaron Dingle's involvement - it's been lovely to see Lydia Dingle's character involved.
Love seeing how Liv Flaherty is determined to get to the bottom of Paul's issues, and I love how after Connor's telling the truth. I am also really enjoying how intense this episode is and it's only episode one.

Tuesday's episode was an episode, I was looking forward to following last night's kick start to a fantastic week. The episode saw a flash-forward to the hospital where they were seen working on someone with Mandy Dingle in the room, followed by Aaron Dingle in the room of another. The episode starts at The Mill with Liv, Aaron, and Sam Dingle talking. It's really nice to see Nicola, and Jimmy on screen more. The more scenes Liv and Paul have the more I am loving how well Isobel Steele, and Reece Dinsdale work together - I love how Liv isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in, and protect the ones she loves. I love how determined Liv is to supporting Vinny despite everything.
It was really nice to see Vinny break down, and admit to his mum about how much he loves Liv - was really nice to see mother-and-son heart-to-heart. Liv's determined to get to the bottom of what Paul has put Vinny through is something I am loving to see as a viewer.

Wednesday's episode started with flash forward scenes to the hospital following Liv, Jimmy, and Paul in the hospital beds. I was so worried about Liv, please don't let it be her!
It's the day of the wedding with Lydia popping a bottle of fizz. Paul is blissfully happy as he is with Marlon, and Sam in The Woolpack as Vinny walks in. The determination from Liv once again wanting to protect Vinny is wonderful, I also love how Aaron is being the supportive big brother having been through what Vinny has himself. The fact that Paul is controlling everything that his son, Vinny says during his speech is something that worries me ahead of tomorrow's episode as I can feel a showdown between the pair coming! That scene from Mandy and Sam was so sweet, and needed. Liv and Aaron's teamwork on helping Vinny realise what Paul is doing to him. I love it how Aaron want to check on Paul thanks to Liv confiding in him - it was nice to see Vinny FINALLY think about opening up to someone about what he has been going through! It's been wonderful to see Bradley Johnson shine through this storyline with all the emotions as all his character wanted was for his mum to be happy despite all the hurt he was going through. Bradley's singing voice - WOW!!

Last night's episode saw one INCREDIBLY delivered episode with all the special effects, the stunts, the constant changing of the mind who the victim could be, the edge of the seat viewing, and much more.
The episode started with flash forward to the hospital beds which saw Mandy, Nicola, and Aaron looking rather devastated. I loved the comedy from Mackenzie as Nicola King was locked in the back of the van at the scrapyard, but towards the end of the episode we saw his worried side as he told Nicola some sad news.

At the barn, Liv and Paul were seen talking about Connor when Liv revealed that she trusts Connor's word over his - I like how Liv is brave enough to stand up to him. Paul thinking he has one over on Liv near the beginning of the episode, Aaron was seen talking to Vinny when his phone rings, and it's his dad. Vinny is so scared. I am seeing real character development here between Vinny and Aaron as they explore Vinny's situation. These scenes are under estimated! The fact Mandy was blissful unaware was something that got to me.
Paul's mind games towards Liv throughout the barn scenes were out of order leading to Liv saying exactly what she was thinking made for a great scene as Paul's true colours were revealed. That fact that the slap filmed with social distancing in place was wonderful. Paul continuing to talk down to Liv before Liv telling Paul about who Vinny is actually with before the cameras turn towards the Dingle house as Vinny walks down the stairs as Aaron is still there - love how determined Aaron is to get to the bottom of this drama for Vinny's sake. The emotions throughout Vinny and Aaron scenes are something that makes me emotional. The violence from Paul to Liv was something I found hard to watch as a viewer I wasn't expecting that much. Then that crash happened, I was on the edge of my seat as it happened.

Following the crash back at the barn, Liv, Paul, and Jimmy's lives are all in the balance, however, Jimmy managing to get out of his van in pain to call the police, and Chas Dingle which really confused me. With Paul and Liv both conscious they both started to finish their conversation, Liv continuing with her determination on getting a confession of which she got! The close up camera angles of Paul's face as he was trapped was wonderfully captured as was Liv's face following the shock of discovering what had happened.

Following the barn explosion, Liv and Jimmy laid on the grass outside the barn whilst Paul was still trapped inside. Aaron then phoning Mandy to tell her that Liv is in the hospital, and Paul is there too. Aaron in a state of shock among hearing Liv's injuries leaves Aaron emotional. Liv and Aaron's relationship is a precious one. Mandy's arrival to the hospital and seeing a devastated Aaron sitting there I am emotional watching these scenes. WHAT?! Vinny being rushed to the hospital having been found unconscious by Sam. I am so confused right now! The camera angle when of Liv in her hospital bed was beautifully captured as was Vinny's leaving me with so many questions.
Lisa Riley - you were incredible tonight, I felt every single emotion especially as Paul died!

Tonight's episode saw the aftermath of last night's terrific episode. I am really looking forward to seeing a vulnerable Mandy tonight. Seeing all these wonderful sides to Lisa this week have left me speechless many a time.

Back in the hospital, Mandy was outside the hospital as Lydia went to find her and they had an emotional heart-to-heart. Grief hits people in different ways, but Mandy's reaction was something that had me crying Lisa's emotions were so pure.
Nicola's heartbreak seeing her husband like that - emotional viewing especially as she later told him about Paul's death.
Aaron sitting by Liv's bedside as she regains consciousness where Aaron tells Liv about Paul's fate - the emotions in this scene got me. However, when Liv then asked about Vinny and Aaron revealing about Vinny being bought in. There was an update from the doctors on Vinny's condition as Mandy started to want to be alone as Aaron arrives looking confused leaving Mandy wanting answers. Mandy then going to visit Liv in an wonderfully simple thought about scene between the pair as Liv blurts out the truth! At last Mandy knows the truth, even if it was hard to hear. The cheer I gave as the break came, did anyone else?

With the fact that Mandy struggled to accept the truth from Liv, and Aaron protecting his sister just I liked how Liv is the only one able to tell Mandy the truth even if it is hard to hear - Emotional dialogue. With Vinny then waking up and asking for his mum, I felt an emotional scene coming. Vinny worrying about him ruining his mum's big day, then asking after his dad leading to Mandy telling him about his dad's death with an emotional scene to follow upon asking about whether what Liv, and Aaron's side about Paul was true, but the fact that Mandy knew the truth by Vinny's face alone - what an emotional scene to end this emotional week on!

I loved Karen Blick, and Lisa Riley's partnership tonight.

I can't believe how many many incredible beautiful, and excellent scenes, us Emmerdale viewers have had from Lisa Riley, Reece Dinsdale, Karen Blick, Bradley Johnson, Isobel Steele, and Danny Miller this week.
What an exit for Reece Dinsdale, but I can't wait to see how the story develops from now because I have a feeling there is a lot more drama to come.

These episodes of Emmerdale aired between Monday 29th March - Friday 2nd April on ITV.
