ALBUM REVIEW - RAELYNN - BAYTOWN

Image
Today (Friday 24th September) will see US singer-songwriter,  Raelynn  release her brand new full studio album version of Baytown. Baytown is made up of 14 songs. Artwork Credit: Courtesy of Round Here Records Keep Up  starts with a fun, quirky and fun instrumental which I just adore. The first verse is so fun and this is the one thing about this song that I love the most having heard it live last year at C2C and my god there is something about this song. I love that Raelynn isn't afraid to write about her feelings especially when it comes to issues like this and having that it's ok for us ladies to be a little rowdy with the fellas if we need too. The chorus of Keep Up is one that is perfect for a road trip and the catchiness of the lyrics is something that makes me wanna get up and dance instantly - this is the perfect country girl anthem! Raelynn this song is perfection. The second verse continues Keep Up wonderfully with the fun element within the song the catchiness of the

WHY WATERLOO ROAD RETURNING IS AMAZING NEWS

Everyone that knows me knows how much I loved watching Waterloo Road and have done since the very first episode. This mornings news of the show returning and being set in Manchester had me thrilled! And by the look of my Twitter many others of you were too! I may have only been a teenager when the first of a new drama series called Waterloo Road aired back on 9th March, 2006 but what I do remember is how excited I was for new drama series based on a school to be on TV. When the show ended exactly 9 years after it first aired on 9th March, 2015 on BBC One, I was upset but glad that the final episode was left open for a possible return in the future (which is clearly happening after today's announcement).  Waterloo Road was the one show that through lockdown 1.0 got me realising just how much I loved and missed the show, and I have never hidden the fact that my favourite series was season 4 as it has been the one that has stuck with me thanks to it being the most full of drama in eve

WHY LAST NIGHT'S FIRST LOOK HOLLYOAKS WAS IMPORTANT

I haven't written a Hollyoaks blog in a while, and having watched this week's episodes with Cher McQueen's storyline last night's inparticular I have decided to share one. Last night's (21st September's can be seen tonight on Channel 4 - 22nd September) First Look episode had me in tears. Hollyoaks have been exploring Cher McQueen's back story over the past few months as she has started to struggle with her mental health. Something that Hollyoaks and all the soaps do fantastically is, all the research that goes into each and every episode when they work with charities to highlight many important issues. Since, Cher's arrival in Chester 15 months ago, Cher has been one character that has been taken on a journey that has been wonderful to explore as a viewer especially her relationship with her father, Slyver McQueen. But seeing Cher struggle over the past few months has seen us viewers learn even more, and see Cher become more vulnerable due to what she h

ALBUM REVIEW - SCOTTY McCREERY - SAME TRUCK

Image
Tomorrow (Friday 17th September) will see American singer-songwriter,  Scotty McCreery release his brand new album, Same Truck. Same Truck is made up of 12 tracks. Photo Credit: Jeff Ray Same Truck  has guitar instrumental complimenting the song through giving off many wonderful Scotty vibes.  The first verse sees Scotty's crisp vocal tone at the forefront allowing for many heartfelt lyrics and hometown feels within. I caught myself being able to relate at times to the meaning within the lyrics.  The chorus of Same Truck has many catchy country vibes that had me smiling right start to finish, and the whole story about how everyone who we really care about is placed in the same truck - or at least that's what I get from the lyrics. Scotty's little higher tone is wonderfully timed.  The second verse sees Scotty's crisp vocal return as the song continues with many more heartfelt lyrics that has me dancing along as I listen. The final verse brings Same Truck together perfec

ALBUM REVIEW - CARLY PEARCE - 29: WRITTEN IN STONE

Image
Tomorrow (Friday 17th September) will see US singer-songwriter,  Carly Pearce  release a new collection of songs making up 29: Written In Stone. 29: Written In Stone is made up of 15 tracks. Carly also had many co-writers on the songs. Album Cover Courtesy of Big Machine Records Diamondback has a darker sounding sassy  instrumental which supports Carly's darker sounding vocals allowing for the listeners to hear another side of who Carly is as an artist. The lyrics have this dark sentiment that I have to admit I enjoy hearing especially thanks to the honesty of being let down. The chorus is definitely the more sassy part of Diamondback as it sees the part of the song where we say 'sod you'! The attitude is wonderfully timed as it supports the no chance of going back vibe.  The second verse continues Diamondback with the journey developing to another stage that makes for wonderful listening with the attitude coming out. The more, I hear the chorus of Diamondback the more you

SINGLE REVIEW - JADE HELLIWELL - SMOKE

Image
This Friday (17th September) will see British singer-songwriter,  Jade Helliwell  release her brand new single, Smoke. Photo Credit: Rosie Hardy Photography Artwork Design: three29design Smoke has an upbeat instrumental to start which sets the song up wonderfully. The first verse sees Jade's crisp soft vocal tone that allows for the lyrics to shine through allowing for Jade's attention to detail when writing them to shine through. Smoke seems to have been written on a personally experience and one that many people will appreciate thanks to the questions we ask within the lyrics. The chorus of Smoke is a catchy one that sees Jade's honesty at the forefront that will see a few more people appreciate with some even being able to relate thanks to the many emotions features. The second verse continue as Jade sings about the turning point of that relationship with the honesty and willingness of wanting to get things right, whilst also being willing to make mistakes. Everyone'

EP REVIEW - MITCHELL TENPENNY - MIDTOWN DIARIES

Artwork Credit: Sony Music To Us It Did  opens Mitchell's EP up with an upbeat instrumental which I have to say I wasn't expecting but one I happen to enjoy the more I hear it within the song.  The first verse sees Mitchell's crisp vocal at the forefront allowing for the songs wonderful lyrics to shine through with many good time memories featured giving listeners this happy vibe.  The chorus of To Us It Did features some wonderful thought about lyrics that make you wanna get up and dance thanks to the catchy upbeat lyrics.  The second verse sees with another side of Mitchell's vocal tone giving listeners this real feel of a night out whether it's with friends or that festival kind of vibe. Lyrics are thought about allowing for many crisp moments.  I adore how the bridge repeats the most beautiful lyrics ahead of the final verse se

CORRIE EPISODE REVIEW - KELLY GIVES HER EVIDENCE

This week's Coronation Street episodes continue with the trial scenes ahead of the verdict at the end of the week. Tonight's episode saw Kelly Neelan give her evidence in the court, as did her mum, Laura. In tonight's first episode, viewers saw Abi Franklin on the phone having told someone what she discovered in the final scene of Friday's episode as Kevin Webster praised her for it. Imran Habeeb then seen sat talking with Toyah Battersby about Kelly Neelan's trial today which saw him worrying.  You have done so much for Kelly she's grateful for all you are doing! In the court, Abi and Kevin arrive as Kelly and Toyah arrive in court room. Toyah's belief in Kelly is amazing to see. As it's Kelly's turn on the stand comes, Imran asks Kelly about what happened on the night in question  which saw Kelly become emotional. Hearing Kelly's side you can hear a lot of honesty, and truth within her version of events compared with Corey Brent's which he

CORRIE EPISODE REVIEW - NINA & COREY GIVE EVIDENCE

Following on from Monday's episode review, I am back with a review on Wednesday and tonight's double episode as the trial continued... In Wednesday's first episode,  viewers saw Nina Lucas in her bedroom having panned from Kevin Webster who was in his house alone as Abi Franklin had gone for a walk going to Imran Habeeb who looked worried ahead of the trial before Debbie Webster came to check on her brother. Nina is clearly stressed and worried about going to the police to give her statement  - love how much Roy cares for Nina.  Nina is seen at the police station signing her statement. In court, Simon and Amy Barlow are there to support their friend, Kelly Neelan where things are running a little late thanks to the new evidence from Nina. Back in the court, the trial is underway where emotions can be seen from all in the room. I feel for Kelly and have done throughout, but her face she looks so vulnerable.  The court then hear a voice recording from Seb Franklin on the even

ALBUM REVIEW - LAUREN ALAINA - SITTING PRETTY ON TOP OF THE WORLD

Image
Today (Friday 3rd September) will see US singer-songwriter,  Lauren Alaina  release her brand new album, Sitting Pretty On Top Of The World. Sitting Pretty On Top Of The World features 15 songs. It Was Me  has a guitar instrumental to start which supports the song brilliantly throughout. The first verse sees Lauren's softer vocal range at the forefront with some super meaningful lyrics. The lyrics of this verse were sung from the heart based on experience whilst sharing a lot of regrets. The chorus features some honest truths that make for emotional listening as she reaching into her past in a way, I wasn't expecting to be sung in such an emotional way. By the end of the the chorus you can hear a realisation moment. The second verse of It Was Me continues the meaning of the song with the apologise part with a lot more honesty coming through. The final verse sees the song come full circle with the emotions, and thanks to Lauren's softer vocal in the final chorus. If The Worl
