DEBUT EP REVIEW - ONE TRICK PONY - GONE CHASIN' ROLLERCOASTERS

This Friday (3rd September) sees British Emerging singing-songwriting duo, One Trick Pony made up of Georgia Lennon, and Michael Pickering as they release their debut EP, Gone Chasin' Rollercoasters.

Gone Chasin' Rollercoasters is made up of 3 tracks.

Dream Chasers has an upbeat instrumental to start. The first verse sees Georgia's crisp vocal that sees the lyrics being ones that get you thinking about our future lives which quickly sees Michael with the another point of view that I love hearing. The chorus of Dream Chasers features some incredibly thought about lyrics as they stand out and they get you thinking once again about how we can go after our dreams whatever the situation. The chorus brings the song together perfectly. Michael and Georgia's harmonies make for wonderful thinking. The second verse continues with Michael's vocal with more of the big wide world feelings that you get as you realise you are capable of anything as long as we put our minds to them. Anything is possible if we just believe! The instrumental ahead of the final verse is timed beautifully showing a little vulnerability. The final verse sees softer vocal at the forefront for a few seconds until the final chorus comes in which is an upbeat vocal bringing Dream Chasers perfectly together. The message I learnt from Dream Chasers is that you can do anything and pursue your dreams through from the very first moment to the very end.

Gone But Not Gone starts with a soulful guitar instrumental opening the track wonderfully. The first verse sees Michael's softer vocal at the forefront with this heartfelt lyrics making for emotional listening. Gone But Not Gone is clearly written on a personal experience. Georgia's vocal sees her singing about the memories that you are left with bringing a classic country feel to them. The chorus of Gone But Not Gone features some stunningly emotional lyrics that gets me thinking about my Grandma and the memories I have thanks to her. I love Georgia and Michael's harmonies - they made me a little emotional. What a vulnerable song. The verses continue with Georgia and Michael meaningful vocal continue to shine through with the family roots at the forefront with a real sense of pride being given, all your family want is for you to be happy and live your life the way you want too! The more I continue to hear the chorus the more vulnerable I feel as I am not an emotional person. Thank you for such a beautiful song.

Rollercoaster starts with a quirky upbeat instrumental that is very One Trick Pony. The first verse sees Georgia's crisp vocal range at the forefront of Rollercoaster allowing for her upbeat vocals to shine through once again on this EP with a loved up feel to them alongside an adventurous one too which I personally loved hearing! The chorus of Rollercoaster features some incredible harmonies from Michael and Georgia that are just stunning making everything about the chorus so perfect with a sentimental feel at times about how our lives are a rollercoaster of emotions with the many we face without any knowledge. The second verse sees memories within the lyrics that have a real feel kind of life with how life goes on despite any situation we face. The chorus is magical following the previous verse ahead of the final verse being the one that cements the song together fantastically.
Rollercoaster has to be my favourite song of the whole EP thanks to the rollercoaster of emotions you are taken on.
