CORRIE EPISODE REVIEW - NINA & COREY GIVE EVIDENCE

Following on from Monday's episode review, I am back with a review on Wednesday and tonight's double episode as the trial continued...

In Wednesday's first episode, viewers saw Nina Lucas in her bedroom having panned from Kevin Webster who was in his house alone as Abi Franklin had gone for a walk going to Imran Habeeb who looked worried ahead of the trial before Debbie Webster came to check on her brother.
Nina is clearly stressed and worried about going to the police to give her statement - love how much Roy cares for Nina. Nina is seen at the police station signing her statement.
In court, Simon and Amy Barlow are there to support their friend, Kelly Neelan where things are running a little late thanks to the new evidence from Nina.

Back in the court, the trial is underway where emotions can be seen from all in the room. I feel for Kelly and have done throughout, but her face she looks so vulnerable. The court then hear a voice recording from Seb Franklin on the evening, and it's emotional listening. I like how Coronation Street showed the people involved helping Seb on the evening.
Roy Cropper and Nina having a small heart-to-heart and her opening up about her emotions. I adore how much Roy honestly cares for his niece. The fact that Roy gets straight to the point, and is determined to support her.
Personally, I am finding this trial hard to hear, but the questioning is straight to the point it gives a good understanding.

Nina toying with going back to her old way of dressing as Kevin and Simon have a heated discussion as Simon defends his friend. However, the way that Nina walked into the court with such confidence that saw a smile on many faces. The way that Roy waved at Nina was just the cutest. Nina's emotional recount of the evening events have me feeling rather emotional. The way that Nina is belittled by Imran's ex, Sabeen in the court room are something that makes for tough viewing. WOW! I am crying.

In Wednesday's second episode, viewers saw Nina continue to give her evidence where she was continuing to be belittled, but it was nice to see Nina standing up for herself with such confidence. Nina is so strong, and she is determined to tell everyone exactly what happened that evening. The way that Nina managed to get an apology out of Sabeen, I have to say showed what a strong character Nina is!
The way that Imran was so downbeat after Nina's questioning but actually, I think Nina saved her. Roy's words to Nina following her evidence was so comforting. Corey Brent's attitude soon changed after that evidence.

Next up on the stand was Asha Alahan who told them about Corey needing an alibi following the events that had happened. The way that Asha was questioned by Sabeen wasn't needed. Asha admitting that she still loves Nina was something I wasn't expecting to be bought up.
You can always rely on Imran to ask the questions that everyone wants, however the tough questioning from both solicitors were hard on her. How emotional are these scenes.
The moment, Kelly was seeing talking to Imran was a lovely scene until she mentioned about her mum wanting to help her. Nina was then seen in Victoria Gardens as Summer Spellman was walking past, I am glad Nina has someone to be open with. I'm crying!
As Imran and Toyah return home from the trial to Dev Alahan telling her about Asha being upset, I love how we are getting to see the supportive sides of their characters.

I have nothing but praise for Mickey Jones who directed this episode, as well as Owen Lloyd-Fox for his fantastic writing on this episode full of emotion.

In Friday's first episode, saw Kevin Webster talk about Abi Franklin and Imran Habeeb's ex, Sabeen in the cafe to Nina Lucas with Roy Cropper listening as well.
Abi is then seen arriving at court with Kevin where she sees Corey Brent's father, however, as Abi is sitting down in court she sees someone that she doesn't know as Sabeen enters the courtroom as Toyah Battersby is seen talking to Imran ahead of the start of the trial.

Corey is then seen giving his evidence as Sabeen questions him. As Corey continues to lie the more annoyed I was becoming, but I have nothing but praise for Maximus Evans portrayal. Everyone in the court is thinking very closely as Kelly Neelan gets worked up.
Toyah and Abi's scene outside of the court room was great and allowed for a supportive scene until Abi breaks down in the toilets.

Back in court, Imran is seen questioning Corey but the Nina is looking at Corey says a thousand words but I have nothing but praise for Imran's questioning as Corey was shaking but the crocodile tears that follow didn't wash with me.
The way that Kelly then lashed out had me emotional.

Sabeen was seen to be continuing to questioning Corey's friend, Eli after the interruption from Kelly it wasn't long before Imran was given the opportunity to question, but it wasn't long before he was interrupted by Sabeen. Up next in the giving evidence was Tommy Orpington where he was seen to be saying what a great person he is despite not having worked or met him many times. Thanks Imran for the spot on questioning. What I don't understand is why you would give evidence for someone you haven't worked alongside!
As the trial ends for the day, Abi confronts Corey's father, however, the tension soon becomes heated.

Back on the cobbles, Abi is seen on her laptop as Kevin walks in on her where she starts playing detective. Abi's hard work soon pays off when she discovers something about Eli's dad and his involvement with Corey's dad. I have nothing but praise for Sally Carman's acting and the emotions she has had me feeling tonight has seen me on a rollercoaster. Will Abi's discovery make a difference?

Thank you for tonight's brilliantly written episode Steven Fay and Alasdair Morrison who I have to praise for their wonderfully written episodes tonight with such sensitivity as has this trial as a whole - Thank you, Coronation Street!

This episode of Coronation Street aired on Friday 3rd September on ITV.
