WHY THIS WEEK'S EPISODES WERE GREAT FOR MILLIE GIBSON'S FINAL SCENES

During this week's Coronation Street episodes, viewers saw Kelly Neelan's final scenes air after 4 years since Millie Gibson first arrived on screen. During the past 4 years, Kelly has grown as a character and been through so much and us viewers have seen Millie grow and shine as a talented young actress - which saw her win Best Young Actress at the British Soap Awards 2022.

Sunday aired what should have been Friday's episode which perfectly set up for this week's scheduled episodes for Kelly Neelan's final week on the Weatherfield cobbles as Sharon returned revealing the truth about Gary Windass and his involvement in her father, Rick's death.

At the start of the week, viewers saw Rick Neelan appear as a figure in Kelly's imagination as she was thinking about revenge - I loved the dialogue as it really set the week's episodes up well allowing us viewers to see another side of Kelly's character.
The moment Kelly looked through photos that were in the bag she got of her mum's things as Rick appeared once again.
Kelly was called to the police station to identify her kidnapper, but instead was unable too, however, it was soon revealed why as she approached them as Kelly started plotting Gary's downfall. The look in her eyes said a lot. Towards the end of the episode, Gary starts to care - a little too late.
The way that Aadi dotes on Kelly is adorable especially as he presented her with a ring. Dev agreeing to be at Aadi's engagement party saw Aadi delighted.

Wednesday's episode saw Kelly and Aadi's engagement take place; however, prior to the event Rick was in Kelly's ear once again leaving her torn, but Maria Connor was soon doing Kelly's make-up for the special event.
Ahead of the event, Kelly and Gary shared a chat which was heartfelt, but it was Kelly's face that said it all, the doubt started to show.
With Aadi quickly welcoming everyone, Kelly's face was full of worry and panic for what was going to happen to Gary. Seconds later, Dev Alahan and Gary's words about Kelly and Aadi were lovely moments, that was until Kelly revealed the truth to Gary about her knowing that he killed her father leading to Gary being kidnapped.
Nina's words to Kelly despite everything that has happened between the pair over the past 18 months in particular were beautiful with Kelly apologising once again.
In the woods, Gary was taken to the exact spot where Rick died - the tender hooks that came after. Kelly panic appeared once again as she went to meet Kieron who kidnapped her - the panic in her eyes were of pure shock.
This episode showed what a fantastic young actress, Millie Gibson really is and she will be missed!

In the final episode of the week, and Millie's final episode it was a tense one with many emotions. The way that Kelly was genuinely scared showed a lot of vulnerability. The use of the volume wall was incredibly used throughout - so much praise for the decision to use this made it even more special.
The way that Gary and Aadi rushed to Kelly's side without thinking of the consequences was a brave move, however, the moment Aadi was shot - the slow motion was incredibly used. I got emotional as you could see how much Kelly genuinely loves and cares for him. Kelly panicking for her fiancĂ© was a side to the character, I never knew I needed to see.

As the news of what happened to Aadi reaches Dev, Asha, and Maria bought an emotional scene for Dev, With Kelly and Gary waiting at the hospital, Dev arrived in a state of panic as Kelly is blamed. Kelly pleads with Dev to allow her to see Aadi, which is emotional as you can see how Kelly just wants to protect him as she opened up. Aadi is the one good thing for Kelly in all of this drama.
The way Kelly told Aadi that she had to leave him; I was a sobbing mess especially as she gave him the ring back. The dialogue was beautifully written and delivered.

There was something so special in the way that Kelly's storyline came to an end tying the story together fantastically. Kelly realising that Maria knew had me tearing up once again as you could see how much Kelly and Maria love one another.

As Gary opened up to Kelly about what happened with her father, saw another side to Gary that really bought the storyline to a close as you could see how much Gary cares about Kelly, but my heart broke for Kelly. Millie Gibson and Mikey North are two incredible actors, whose scenes this week have been fantastic. The final scene with Kelly in her signature puffer coats as she walked down the cobbles for the final time, I am a mess!

Millie Gibson, I have nothing but praise for you after these 3 intense episodes and it's clear you will be such a huge loss to the cobbles of Weatherfield. I wish you all the very best for your future, and I can't wait to see what's next for you!

These episodes of Coronation Street aired between Tuesday 20th - Friday 23rd September on ITV in one long episodes.
