INTERVIEW WITH JACOB ROBERTS AS OPENS UP ABOUT HIS CHARACTER

Image
Since his arrival on the cobbles of Weatherfield, Coronation Street viewers have seen Kit revealed as Bernie Winter's son who she gave up for adoption. During next week's episodes, viewers will see Kit introduce himself to his brother and sister, Gemma and Paul Winter, but how will the twins react to the news?  It's all going to be a big shock to them, however, I think it will make for some interesting scenes. Talking about Kit being reluctant to start a relationship with his mum, Jacob Roberts who plays Kit said:  "He is still very angry, he doesn’t want anything to do with her. As far as he is aware she abandoned him twice, once when he was born and then again when he was 20 and he arranged to meet her and she didn’t show up. He has a lot of unresolved issues." Kit decides to go around to flat speaking about what happens, Jacob adds: "He wants to tell Gemma and Paul his version of events. He wants them to know how their mum abandoned him and kept his exist...

INTERVIEW WITH HALLE KEARNS AS SHE RELEASES HER BRAND NEW EP, QUARTER LIFE CRISIS

Image
Today's (Friday 21st June) interview is with  Halle Kearns  which supports the release of her Quarter Life Crisis EP, a few weeks ago I caught up with Halle Kearns as she releases this magical EP. Hello Halle, Congratulations on Quarter Life Crisis being released today - how are you feeling about it? I am so genuinely excited to have a new project out. Singles are so fun, but watching all of them come together to create a piece of work always feels super rewarding! Can you please tell us about how you decided on the 6 songs for the EP? Each of the 6 songs pull from different emotions and circumstances that come with being in a quarter-life-crisis. It felt like each song served its own purpose in relaying the overall message of the EP’s theme! You played a selection of these shows during your visit to London for C2C back in March, how was that for you? C2C was one of my favorite musical experiences I’ve had to date. I cannot wait to come back and play in London again! You...

EP REVIEW - HALLE KEARNS - QUARTER LIFE CRISIS

Image
Today (Friday 21st June), US country pop singer-songwriter,  Halle Kearns  releases her brand new EP, Quarter Life Crisis. Quarter Life Crisis EP begins with an electric guitar, drum instrumental for  Clothes on the Line  which is filled with a lot of warmth and memories. The chorus is filled with a message about how things change as well as our perspectives as we grow up and learn how to appreciate the little moments in our lives. The lyrics are rather powerful at times. The Boot  is filled with some proper 90's country vibes with the chorus being the standout part of the song due to the lyrics allowing as listeners into the love story feel as you can hear so much vulnerability. The verses connect together wonderfully as a lot of love is shared between them. One thing I like about 'The Boot' is the fact that the song can have two different meaning making for some interesting listening. Halle's soft tone is everything! Up next is  High School Friends beginn...

SINGLE REVIEW - BRANTLEY GILBERT FEATURING ASHLEY COOKE - OVER WHEN WE'RE SOBER

Image
Today (Friday 21st June), Brantley Gilbert and  Ashley Cooke  are releasing a duet called Over When We're Sober. Over When We're Sober is released via The Valory Music Co. Photo Credit:  The Valory Music Co. Over When We're Sober  begins with Brantley singing some heartfelt lyrics that see him remembering that one person you miss but knowing that you are wrong for one another at the same time - it's the little details. The chorus is beautiful as Brantley and Ashley Cooke's vocals blend very well together, and are perfect for the very sad meaning. Ashley taking the lead in the second verse is delivered from a female perspective with sad realisation, and the final verse is an emotional one. Overall, Over When We're Sober is a powerful song especially as the softer vocals coming in at the end. You can follow Ashley on her Social Media X Instagram Facebook Website

During next week's visit to Hollyoaks, viewers will see Frankie Osborne set to come home from hospital following her falling down the stairs, however with Frankie still scared Darren Osborne asks her mum, Suzanne Ashworth to move in with them. With Charlie and Oscar Osborne visiting Frankie in hospital as Nancy enters demanding the truth about what happened on the night of the accident, but in true soap style its not long until someone borrows the laptop and discovers a video...  Later in the week, Frankie is ecstatic to learn that she has been accepted into the dance college  - Frankie worked so hard for this and deserves good news! Photo Credit: Lime Pictures/ Hollyoaks As Oscar opens up to Frankie, she admits that she is scared of her brother, JJ.  This is must be so hard to admit and something Hollyoaks are delivering with such care. Towards the end of the week as Frankie is preparing to go to the police to admit that truth, JJ makes her a promise.  I really hope...

SINGLE REVIEW - KATY HURT - OH GIRL

Image
Today (Friday 7th June) sees singer-songwriter, Katy Hurt release her brand new single, Oh Girl. Oh Girl  begins with Katy's crisp vocal allows for some vulnerability to be at the forefront which honestly made me very emotional. The honesty within the first verse especially is so raw, it's quite beautiful. As someone who recently left their job off 12 years to start over I instantly connected with the moments of letting go and starting over even though it's difficult. The journey Oh Girl takes you on is one I appreciate as you hear how much you want them to let people in to help them, however, sometimes those walls are super hard to break down. Katy's vocal tone is perfectly pitched throughout and the songwriting is rather poignant and I am loving this side of who Katy is as an artist! You can follow Katy on her Social Media X Facebook Instagram YouTube Website

HELEN WORTH SET TO LEAVE CORONATION STREET

Image
I can't believe I am sharing this news as Gail Platt now Rodwell is one of the characters I remember from my childhood after  Coronation Street announced that Helen Worth will be leaving the cobbles later this year. Helen will celebrate her golden anniversary on the show next month, and will be a momentous occasion for her in more ways than one. With Helen celebrating 50 years on the cobbles, she will also be looking forward to a very different future after Helen has made the very difficult decision to step down from playing Gail Rodwell at the end of the year.  I feel emotional as I am writing and sharing this news. After half a century from the moment she walked onto the cobbles for the very first time, viewers will see Helen and Gail bid farewell in a major storyline for the Platt family.  I'll be sure to have the tissues ready when from the moment comes, it'll be interesting to see how the storyline airs whatever it is. With some of the females of the Coronation Street set to take centre stage this month, Tina O'Brien, Lucy Fallon and Alison King talk about what's to come for their characters as well as what it is like to work on the Manchester based soap. When asked about what it's like to work on the show, Alison King said: "The people, everyone must have said that! Our team is a family, my brothers and sisters are here really, people may come and go but they always remain. I've made so many friends it’s a dream really. It's definitely the people and obviously as an actor getting to play something different every day and practice my art, that is incredible for me." Carla has many different sides, but when asked about what is it about her that you love to play?  "I like playing all Carla Connor’s unexpected, varied sides. She's got so many sides to her and I think she tries to grow as a person but ultimately her core is fiery and fearless. She is vulnerable, sh...

SOPHOMORE ALBUM REVIEW - KAMERON MARLOWE - KEEPIN' THE LIGHTS ON

Image
Today (Friday 31st May) American country singer-songwriter,  Kameron Marlowe is releasing his sophomore album, Keepin' The Lights On which is made up of 16 tracks. Kameron's sophomore album opens with  911 which has an upbeat instrumental with the fun being a fun one alongside many 911 moments you would expect from the title allowing for some great storytelling, but you can't help but sing along with the catchy chorus. Nothin' Slowing Us Down  features a wonderfully soft vocal from Kameron with some heartfelt storytelling to shine through allowing for the listeners to get a little honesty, whilst hearing him talk about his relationship. On My Way Out  sees Kameron's crisp tone mixed with heartfelt lyrics allowing for many brilliant moments demonstrating a lot of growth through the journey of life especially within the second verse which saw me become emotional due to Kameron's vulnerability. Never Really Know  is a beautifully crafted song with a soft instr...

HOLLYOAKS HAS BEEN HARD-HITTING THIS WEEK

Image
Over the past few weeks, Hollyoaks has become my go to soap and even with all these changes being reported due to cast leaving both on screen as well as people behind the scenes as the show is changing from 5 episodes a week to just 3 in September 2024. Over the years, Hollyoaks have delivered some of the best hard-hitting storylines which have educated a lot of viewers. You only have to look on social media to see this as well as getting viewers talking and telling their loved ones of their own problems following the previous two weeks. However, in reality it's not always that easy which is OK as everyone's journey is different and Hollyoaks are great at highlighting this! Photo Credit: Lime Pictures/ Hollyoaks There is one storyline at the moment which is breaking me as I am watching and is one of the most hard-hitting storylines I have seen since Hannah Ashworth's anorexia back in 2010 which involves Frankie Osborne's abuse storyline which has seen Isabelle Smith and...

JACOB ROBERTS CAST AS BERNIE'S SON IN CORONATION STREET

Image
During tonight's Coronation Street episode (13th May), viewers saw Jacob Roberts who played Damon Kinsella in Hollyoaks for 6 years made his first appearance as Bernie Winter's long lost son who she has been trying to track down. Having given up her son almost 30 years ago, viewers saw tonight, Bernie continued her search for her long lost son as she tracked down a man called Christopher Green who changed his name. However, Bernie was left disappointed when he denied being the person she was looking for. However, in a shock twist Christopher took out a jade elephant toy - exactly like the one Bernie told Dev she'd bought for her son.  This was a twist, I really enjoyed watching and I am glad to have Jacob back on my screen after enjoying his work on Hollyoaks. Speaking of joining Coronation Street, Jacob said:  “It’s absolutely amazing to be joining the cast of Coronation Street. When I walked on set for the first time it felt a bit overwhelming because the attention to d...

SINGLE REVIEW - KYLIE MORGAN - SCRATCHING THE SURFACE (MAMA'S SONG)

Image
Yesterday (Friday 10th May), US singer-songwriter,  Kylie Morgan  release her latest single, Scratching The Surface written about her mama. Photo Credit: Rachel Deeb I remember hearing  Scratching The Surface on instagram and absolutely loving it, so I am thrilled Kylie is releasing this single. The verses are filled with such love for her mum who has been there through every single step of her journey allowing for her to grow into the wonderful person we have the opportunity to know these days. The perspective that Kylie writes the song in is moving and in a way that left me looking back at the relationship I have with my mum. The chorus is filled with so much love and a mother/ daughter bond if you are lucky enough to have one. It's filled with such warmth and gratitude. The journey that Scratching The Surface takes you all in the second verse talking about her mum's journey with her makes for a emotional listen. The third verse is the appreciation verse which is the on...

SINGLE REVIEW - TIGIRLILY GOLD - LEROY

Image
Today (Friday 10th May),  Tigirlily Gold  made up of sisters, Kendra and Krista release their brand new single, Leroy. Photo Credit: Jared Olson Leroy  begins with a beautiful upbeat instrumental complimenting Kendra and Krista's vocal tones throughout - their harmonies are stunning. Leroy begins with Kendra asking a lot of questions about Leroy or who Leroy could be in such a sassy way - did you meet him in a bar? Is he a friend of your ex, or is he someone your friend is going out with? The chorus is a sassy one from Kendra and Krista with the lyrics about needing to call Leroy to help them escape, but it's obvious they don't listen to anything you say or are they talking about their previous relationship? The perfect song inspiration. The second verse continues with the break-up and how you didn't want to call them, but you know you probably will. I love how the bridge is slow and allows for the ladies gorgeous tones to shine. I enjoyed the final chorus as it took...

EP REVIEW - LILY ROSE - RUNNIN' OUTTA TIME

Image
Tomorrow (Friday 10th May), Rising Country artist,  Lily Rose  releases her brand new EP, Runnin' Outta Time made up of 6 tracks all of which Lily Rose co-wrote. Back in March, Lily Rose played C2C Festival at London's O2 Arena on the spotlight stage as well as apart of the spotlight stage in Glasgow and Belfast. The Goal  is a song filled with brilliant lyrics and great storytelling opening up this EP brilliantly. One thing I really enjoyed was the different interpretations throughout allowing for many different meaning to shine through. The chorus is a heartfelt one remembering our families whilst reminding us how precious they are and how is a spilt second our family and goals change and sometimes emotionally which is shown throughout her tone. WOW, the powerful moments, however, it was the final verse that caught me off guard. Back Pew  is one of my favourite songs especially after hearing it during C2C in March with incredibly emotive lyrics. All three vers...

ALBUM REVIEW - SCOTTY McCREERY - RISE AND FALL

Image
This Friday (10th May), American singer-songwriter,  Scotty McCreery  releases his brand new album, Rise and Fall which is made up of  13 tracks. Rise and Fall begins with  Little More Gone  which begins with an upbeat instrumental allowing for Scotty to open the first verse with his rocky tone which is very different to what I expected, but something I loved as it allowed for the songwriting to come through especially heading into the chorus. The chorus is filled with some extremely catchy lyrics heading into the second verse brilliantly. This song reminds me of Scotty during his time on American Idol and the reason why I started following his career in the first place. Cab In A Solo  was the perfect song to kick off this new era of Scotty McCreery music. The soft instrumental is good throughout as it supports all of it's lyrics. The first verse is a little emotional as it talks about a relationship that isn't working out the way you hope/ had hoped to wan...

SINGLE REVIEW - KAMERON MARLOWE - ON MY WAY OUT

Image
Today (Friday 3rd May), American country singer-songwriter,  Kameron Marlowe  releases his brand new single, On My Way Out. Photo Credit: David McClister The piano instrumental that begins  On My Way Out   is brilliant as it goes into the first verse wonderfully with Kameron's crisp tone that allows for heartfelt lyrical moments that demonstrates a lot of growth filled with those some of his favourite things. The chorus features some stunning songwriting that broke me as I was listening allowing for wonderful moments for Kameron to be shown. Kameron's makes this song his own for his loved ones making it even more beautiful. I love how the second verse continues On My Way Out with the some level of heartfelt moments that broke me in the first verse allows for the story to develop and grow into a journey of life. The bridge ahead of the final chorus was in a softer tone allowing for a wow moment as it showed the vulnerability side of Kameron to shine through before the...

Indifferent is a from Megan's sophomore album, Am I Okay? being released on Friday 12th July which was only announced yesterday (Thursday 2nd May). Photo Credit: Cece Dawson The first verse of  Indifferent  begins with Megan's crisp tone at the forefront allowing for a lot of vulnerability to be shown. You can hear a lot of her hurt which happened during the relationship break up allowing us listeners to realise a lot happened during their time together eg. a lot of hurt. The chorus continues to feature the heartbreak of the relationship and how you wish that person the best, but also wanting to move on myself. I love the sassiness from Megan as you can really hear how brilliant of a songwriter she is! The second verse is the part of the song where you try and move on, but still remember every single little detail. You get a mix of emotion as your ex for th...
