EP REVIEW - LILY ROSE - RUNNIN' OUTTA TIME

Tomorrow (Friday 10th May), Rising Country artist, Lily Rose releases her brand new EP, Runnin' Outta Time made up of 6 tracks all of which Lily Rose co-wrote.
Back in March, Lily Rose played C2C Festival at London's O2 Arena on the spotlight stage as well as apart of the spotlight stage in Glasgow and Belfast.

The Goal is a song filled with brilliant lyrics and great storytelling opening up this EP brilliantly. One thing I really enjoyed was the different interpretations throughout allowing for many different meaning to shine through. The chorus is a heartfelt one remembering our families whilst reminding us how precious they are and how is a spilt second our family and goals change and sometimes emotionally which is shown throughout her tone. WOW, the powerful moments, however, it was the final verse that caught me off guard.

Back Pew is one of my favourite songs especially after hearing it during C2C in March with incredibly emotive lyrics. All three verses of Back Pew are brilliantly written as you can hear how much the chorus means to Lily Rose, The chorus is filled with beautiful lyrics that have a lot of love within them as even if she's shows up late she will be there no matter what which is a really important message connecting all the verses brilliantly together. I am not a religious person, but this song got me thinking and even allowed for me to shed a tear.

Parking Lot begins with a guitar instrumental setting the song up fantastically allowing for Lily's crisp vocal to shine through. The story behind a parking lot was a moving one especially when you think about all the little things they see and experience - one song, I think many different generations will appreciate. The chorus is wonderfully written and created to allow listeners in. The second verse is my favourite as it has her personal take/ meaning. There is something so wonderful about Lily Rose's storytelling throughout that made me realise what a brilliant performer she is. I remember hearing this during her C2C performance back in March during her indigo set and absolutely loving the song.
Can't wait to add this song to my summer road trip playlist.

True North sees Lily's crisp vocal tones at the forefront allowing for the hometown feelings to be shared with the listeners. The chorus is super catchy and has an extremely homely feel which is something I love hearing within songs of this nature - remembering where you come from is so very important. Be proud of it! The fact that Lily Rose reminds true to herself within her music is magical and this song is no different especially as you can hear some personal connections. The softer vocal towards the end is great, especially as moments after True North returns to it's upbeat nature to end. A perfect song for driving home to see your loved ones.

Two Flowers has a soft guitar instrumental that compliments Lily Rose's soft crisp vocal allowing for a family feel which in turn saw Lily Rose wear her heart on her sleeve reminding me of the reason why I love Lily's music. The storytelling shines through especially within the chorus which was brilliantly written. 'I was born to be wild' was a line that really stood out to me as it really sums this song up wonderfully.

Runnin' Outta Time is an upbeat song reminding me of why I fell in love with Lily Rose's music in the first place back in 2021. The happiness and catchy moments within the lyrics are brilliantly thought about especially within the second verse allowing for me to stop and think about how content I am with my own life - it's moments of reflections that make us realise how beautiful life is. The lesson from this song is, is that we are all runnin' outta life - make your life as beautiful as you are!
