ALBUM REVIEW - TENILLE ARTS - TO BE HONEST

Tomorrow (Friday 3rd May), Canadian singer-songwriter, Tenille Arts releases her brand new album, to be honest which is made up of 14 songs of which 2 are duets.

There is something so special about To Be Honest and the lyrics are filled with so much honesty, I caught myself getting emotional over as someone who has recently made a massive change in her way it's a song that comes with change! The song I never knew I needed to hear.
So Do I is a song with lyrics that are heartfelt and tell a heart-wrenching story with many powerful moments with elements that the song could be from a movie soundtrack. I love the fact that Demi Lovato wrote this song and allowed Tenille to share it.
Wonder Woman reminded me of why I loved Tenille's music in the first place with her soulful vocal that take you on a journey especially within the chorus. I really liked the fact that it wasn't the kind of song that I had imagined as it is about all those moments we wonder as a woman and that's OK as we are all different. Sometimes a change is good and sometimes its great to stick around to see what happens.
The guitar instrumental that opens up Dying To Be Pretty is fantastic as Tenille's crisp vocal shines through with a lot of vulnerability being shown on her sleeve as there is a lot of this happening in today's society which is something I was guilty of a lot in my teenager years, still have moments where I think I'm not pretty but we all have days like this. There were moments of the song that I caught myself getting emotional over especially with a line in the second verse.
Something I Can Cry To allows for Tenille's crisp tone to be at the forefront whilst allowing for a little vulnerability to come through due to the song's wonderful lyrics. The second and third verses are fantastic due to the heartfelt lyrics that will connect with many people as I caught myself listening to them rather closely especially as it headed into the chorus.
The soft tone from Tenille in How Do You Sleep is fantastic as you hear about side of who Tenille is as an artist whilst always wearing her heart on her sleeve. The chorus is filled with such vulnerability that I caught myself relating in parts. The songwriting is beautiful, and you can tell that a lot of thought has gone into the lyrics - you can hear how much the song means to Tenille.
People Change begins with a catchy instrumental that breaks to be honest up wonderfully. People Change will be one of those relatable songs for many especially as the chorus kicks in with the sad lyrics as you realise that someone you were in a relationship with has changed and not always for the better.

With the soft Tenille vocals I enjoy, Want Her Back allows for her caring side. A lot of care and consideration has gone into the song especially the chorus as it is filled with some heartfelt lyrics. The second verse is an emotional one as it follows for a different perspective with the trust gone.
Next Best Thing has a guitar instrumental along with softer tone from Tenille this song hit me with the brilliant storytelling, The chorus is a catchy one whilst also being filled with a lot of emotion as you were the best in a sarcastic way - the way it links to every single verse so well is a credit. Tenille's vocal range throughout is beautifully chosen.
The upbeat song within Call Me When You Get Home Friends is great as it's one for our friends who we care so much about and always say to be them 'call me when you get home' waiting until they do allows for many powerful moments. The storytelling is brilliantly throughout about making from many powerful moments to be shared with us listeners. The softer vocal in the bridge adds a different side to the the song.
Mama's Eyes is one brilliant song on to be honest as it's a rather personal songs seeing yourself through your mother's eyes along with a few twists of how your mother sees you. What a beautiful tribute to your mother, Glenda, Tenille with every little single detail we see as her child that make the song a heartfelt one. Tenille's emotional vocal tones broke me many times.
The soft guitar instrumental that supports Summer Don't Go throughout is great as it gives a wonderful summer feel especially not wanting the summer season to go after making some fantastic new memories. The chorus is beautifully warm as the happiness continued, however, it was verse two that saw the relationship vibes begin and ones that you don't want to lose as the season ends. Tenille's vocal tones throughout are great.
The duet I never knew I needed Jealous of Myself featuring LeAnn Rimes opened with Tenille's heartfelt lyrics that I caught myself getting a little teary. The chorus is the most stunning part as it allows the listener that moment to reflect, however, it was the second verse when LeAnn Rimes came in it become stunning as Tenille and LeAnn vocals blend beautifully together. I love how there were moments I was able to relate to my younger self and the insecurities which allowed for me to have an emotional moment that was very much needed.
Last Time featuring Maddie and Tae is a soft song making it a wonderful end to this wonderful album from Tenille. The first verse is the one that was filled with her crisp vocal with those end of an era kind of times kicking in and a change is coming. the chorus hit me like a tonne of bricks as it got me thinking of when I left high school and if I knew then what I know now, I would never have doubted everything I did as school but that is easier said than done. Maddie and Tae's vocals are wonderfully blended with Tenille and I am so glad this duet happened and is on this album.
