EP REVIEW - HALLE KEARNS - QUARTER LIFE CRISIS

Today (Friday 21st June), US country pop singer-songwriter, Halle Kearns releases her brand new EP, Quarter Life Crisis.

Quarter Life Crisis EP begins with an electric guitar, drum instrumental for Clothes on the Line which is filled with a lot of warmth and memories. The chorus is filled with a message about how things change as well as our perspectives as we grow up and learn how to appreciate the little moments in our lives. The lyrics are rather powerful at times.

The Boot is filled with some proper 90's country vibes with the chorus being the standout part of the song due to the lyrics allowing as listeners into the love story feel as you can hear so much vulnerability. The verses connect together wonderfully as a lot of love is shared between them. One thing I like about 'The Boot' is the fact that the song can have two different meaning making for some interesting listening. Halle's soft tone is everything!
Up next is High School Friends beginning with Halle's crisp tone setting the tone beautifully. The first verse is filled with memories of high school thinking about all those things that haven't changed but at the same time everything has changed! Lyrics are super relatable of where you thought you'd be and where you actually are being so different - I caught myself starting to open up! The chorus made me emotional as it allowed for me to think back to my high school and all the friends, I lost connect with along the way and am slowly reconnecting with as well as all the memories we made. The second verse is the past where the dream starts to become a reality whatever it takes whether it happens quickly or in a matter of months/ years and that's OK. The standout moment came within the bridge and chorus that continued thanks to the emotional lyrics that you can hear within her soft vocal tone. I am very excited for everyone to hear the important message within High School Friends.

Halle begins sassy in Homemade Margaritas with a Summer feeling song as you can hear this little coming of age moment especially with the chorus being the relationship side and getting to know one another whether that's away or at home as long as you are confident within one another's company - which went into the second verse remembering me of as long as you are happy that's all that matters. Homemade Margaritas is definitely a Summer anthem, perfect for those Summer road trips. It was as beautiful as your C2C performance in March on your debut trip to London.

Settlin' Kind allows for listeners to hear a softer sound from Halle about growing up and moving out of the family home to begin your own independent journey. The chorus made me feel a little emotional with the moments of where your friends are in a different line to you, however, remembered me that everyone's journey is different and that is OK! There was one moment in Settlin' Kind that bought a tear to my eye and that was when everything starts to make since which is a beautiful moment. Halle's tones are stunning.

To end Halle's EP is He Carries Me featuring a beautiful guitar instrumental supporting this love story from the very first time they met and realising that you feel completely comfortable around them and they feel like home instantly - it's those little things that are special in a relationship/ marriage. I love the chorus thanks to Halle's crisp tones as you can hear so much happiness it's magical listening. As the song continues Halle opens up about him getting to know you and loving you through everything even when it gets hard, but the mutual love they have for one another is so special and a blessing to each other. You can hear how much Halle loves her husband.
