Boy Tears starts with a upbeat guitar instrumental whilst remaining to a softer country tone.
The first verse sees Colleen's softer vocal opening up with this raw emotion thanks to the brilliantly thought about lyrics. I like how Colleen has write the song based on a personal experience which is something that makes the song even more special, and relatable for the listeners. Colleen's vocal tone changes are wonderfully timed.
The chorus has many catchy lyrics that allow the listeners to create their own story to go alongside the song. The emotions that you hear from Colleen's vocal is something that is even more special giving the song this diverse dynamic. The backing instrumental compliments Colleen's vocals and lyrics throughout and in the most natural way.
The second verse of Boy Tears continues with the natural side developing with Colleen's softer vocals continuing at the forefront thanks to the sentimental feel within the lyrics. The second verse going into the chorus blends wonderfully well together adding this wonderful layer to the song.
The final verse of Boy Tears sees Colleen's higher vocal at the forefront which is something that gives the song so much live allowing listeners to hear another side of who Colleen is as an artist!
Boy Tears ending with the chorus brings the song to the most natural and wonderful ending.
