INTERVIEW WITH FRANKIE DAVIES ABOUT HER C2C EXPERIENCE, AND 2026 PLANS
Following her appearance at C2C on Friday 13th March, I had the opportunity to catch up with singer-songwriter, Frankie Davies where we spoke about her C2C experience along with her 2026 plans.
Hello Frankie, You recently performed at C2C London for the first time in 10 years across two stage, how did you find those performances?
It was so great to be back again on a stage after such a long time. It was amazing to see familiar faces from when I first started out and so many new ones, and to be amongst so many country music lovers, I've missed that.
I managed to catch your Roundup performance on Friday evening which I have to say was fantastic to witness, how did you find the audiences reaction?
It was very heartwarming, doing shows where you can see the audiences reaction is sometimes daunting but everyone was so attentive and supportive.
How nice did it feel to return to the festival to perform after many years?
It was so nice and also so different, so much has changed in 10 years. I feel like country music is so much more celebrated and recognised and that felt very apparent returning this year and it is a wonderful thing to see.
You performed a mix of new and old music allowing for fans that have been there from the start to go down memory lane with you, how did you decide on the set list?
I did just that, I knew I wanted to show everyone some new songs I have been working on but I also knew I needed to do songs that people may have known me for. It's a balancing act and hopefully I got that balance right. I wanted to share more new songs but the right time will come for tha.
After your set you did a meet and greet, how was that for you?
I absolutely loved meeting everyone, it's really important for me. I feel like when I do you get such an insight to the songs people resonate with and it's great to catch up with familiar faces and reminisce with.
Were there any highlights from your sets?
I loved singing my new songs and seeing that people really did love them, it always a sigh of relief to know that those songs connected with folks.
Did you get the opportunity to catch any other artists?
Unfortunately I didn't really, with both my kids in tow it was hard to do exactly what I wanted. I did manage to catch some of Hannah Jane Lewis' set and it was awesome and I wish I was able to catch more but there will be other times when the kids are older and I can be more flexible
Since the last time you performed at C2C in 2016, you have had two children what was it like for them to see you perform?
They did so great and they were so patient. Enys has seen me perform quite a lot and he loves it, he loves performing at home and making up little songs. And my little one Mora doesn't quite get why she can't come up on stage with me but she'll get it and maybe she’'ll be musical too, time will tell. But for me it's wonderful having them there with me, and them watching what I do and what I love.
I can't end the interview without asking you about your plans for the rest of 2026? Please tell me there is new music coming?
I'll be playing some shows closer to home in Cornwall and I've been writing lots of new material, so hopefully recording those soon so watch this space.
Thank you so much for your time, Frankie it's always wonderful speaking with you.
