PETER BARLOW BIDS FAREWELL TO CORONATION STREET

During tonight's Boxing Day episode (26th December) of Coronation Street, viewers saw Peter and Carla Barlow is a very special episode which led to Peter leaving Weatherfield.

This special episode featured fan favourites Peter and Carla Barlow as they hit a rough patch in their marriage leading to some home truths being revealed.

After everything the couple have been through recently you could see the strain in Carla's eyes and the way that Alison King delivered the dialogue with such emotion that she had Peter's best interests at heart.

The scenes in the flat were rather emotional and you could see how much all Carla wanted was/ is the best for her husband even if it is hurting them both but I personally feel like Carla has a point. The love between the characters is and always will be there despite what happens next for them!

Alison King and Chris Gascoyne deliver the best emotional scenes whilst nailing emotions that go with it first time - these kind of actors are special.

The Barlows are one of my favourite families and the way they support each other through everything is brilliant and this was shown fantastically tonight. The goodbye scene on the cobbles was an emotional one and one that made me realise what a tight family the Barlows are - Ken's words I'm emotional.

Alison King and Chris Gascoyne are one of the best partnerships, Coronation Street has ever had and it broke my heart the way Peter left on a tram which was the perfect way as it's a nod to where the show is set in Manchester.

Thank you to Jan McVerry for the brilliant writing tonight and Gill Wilkinson for the brilliant capturing of camera angles.

This episode of Coronation Street aired on Boxing Day (26th December) at 7.30pm on ITV1 and is available to watch on ITVX.
