ALBUM REVIEW - ASHLEY CAMPBELL - SOMETHING LOVELY

This Friday (9th October) will see US singer-songwriter, Ashley Campbell as she releases her brand new album, Something Lovely.
Something Lovely is made up of 12 songs.

Good To Let Go starts with a slow instrumental which is the perfect start for this album from Ashley. The first verse sees Ashley's softer soulful vocals shine which allow her incredibly unique vocal range come through with it's beautifully written lyrics. The chorus features some wonderfully written lyrics that are delivered beautifully. The second verse continues Good To Let Go beautifully as there is something about Good To Let Go that is wonderfully continued within the songs message that is moving. The final verse of Good To Let Go happens to be wonderfully captivating which I just adore - Ashley's vocal deliver throughout Good To Let Go is just wonderful.

Forever's Not That Long starts with a lovely warm instrumental which is made perfect from the moment Ashley's vocals start. The first verse sees Ashley's warm softer vocals at the forefront in a really endearing way that reminds me very much of Dolly Parton which I adore. The lyrics are beautifully written, and contect beautifully with the chorus. The chorus features some incredibly wonderfully unique lyrics that are just perfectly written, and timed thanks to the instrumental that starts ends the chorus. The second verse of Forever's Not That Long is one that is extremely unique with the message of the song continuing beautifully. Ashley's vocal tone throughout is just beautifully thought about, and one I have nothing but great things to say.

If I Wasn't ft. Vince Gill has a very upbeat instrumental to start which is very different to what I expected given the past 2 tracks but one I thought was amazing. The first verse sees Ashley start If I Wasn't off beautifully with her stunning soft vocal range which allows the lyrics to shine through which I have to admit are written from the start. The chorus features wonderful harmonies from Ashley and Vince Gill that were particularly moving at times thanks to the beautifully written and timed lyrics. The second verse of If I Wasn't continues the song wonderfully with Ashley continuing the lead vocals which give a lot of meaning to the song. The final verse of If I Wasn't sees both Ashley and Vince Gill on the vocals once again showing off their harmonies and vocal ranges in the most beautifully captivating way adding a lot more meaning to the song for me. The instrumental towards the end of the song bought the song to a wonderfully sweet end.

Something Lovely starts with a wonderful piano instrumental which takes us instantly into the song. The first verse sees Ashley's warm vibrant vocals at the forefront of the song taking us down memory lane with the beautiful lyrics. I love the story within the lyrics which is beautifully relatable. The chorus features some incredibly warm, beautiful and sweet softer vocals which allows the lyrics of the song to really stand out. The second verse of Something Lovely continues the song in one beautifully soulful way with the beautifully timed instrumental as the story develops in a wonderfully natural way which is moving at times. Ending Something Lovely is an instrumental that is very upbeat, and beautifully timed which I loved hearing.

Remembering starts with a sweet guitar instrumental that is wonderful to hear on this journey of an album. The first verse sees Ashley remembering all about her childhood which had me feeling very emotional thinking back to mine. Ashley's vocal is unbelievably beautiful in a moving kind of way too. I love how Ashley wanted to remember her dad on this album - absoultely perfect, he would be so proud! The chorus features incredibly written lyrics that get you thinking, and remembering about our childhood which is something I love hearing in songs. The second verse continues Remembering beautifully with her childhood memories continuing that continued to move me, and every word Ashley is singing from the heart, and that's delivered in her wonderful vocals. The final verse of Remembering is delivered perfectly, and the lyrics are moving as you hear the tables turning as its her showing her dad her music. Remembering ending with the chorus is a softer tone is perfect, bringing the song together beautifully!

Moustache Man is a wonderful, upbeat instrumental track that has a mandolin being played which has a very country feel to it that I love breaking this album up beautifully. What an amazing instrumental skill is being demonstrated.

Digging Deep starts with a wonderful guitar instrumental which is beautifully timed throughout with the lyrics. The first verse sees Ashley's more laid back vocals opening the song which I have to admit I enjoyed. However, its not long before Ashley's soft vocal range is delivered within the song giving the song so much live. There are some wonderfully open lyrics in the chorus that get you thinking that I have a feeling many people will enjoy hearing. The second verse continues Digging Deep with a fabulous captivating vocal delivery that happens to allow the lyrics to shine through. The final verse of Digging Deep is one that brings the song to a beautiful end in a way that I enjoyed a lot with her softer vocal.

Suitcase Heart starts with a beautiful guitar instrumental. The first verse sees Ashley's softer vocals at the forefront which allows her the opportunity to show off her stunning songwriting ability with her meaningful lyrics which I caught myself getting a little emotional over. The chorus features some wonderfully written, and beautifully delivered song lyrics that are just perfect, and allows the listeners to get a real feel for the song in a rather beautiful way. The second verse continues Suitcase Heart wonderfully with Ashley's beautifully soft vocal delivery of the lyrics which are also rather standout ones in my opinion. The final verse of Suitcase Heart has a rather special soft, and meaningful vocal delivery that is extremely moving at times.

Walk On By starts with a soft instrumental from many instruments which I adored hearing as they complimented Ashley's vocal delivery so well. The first verse sees Ashley's dreamy vocals being delivered in a way that is just wonderful to hear as the lyrics are written so beautifully well. The chorus features some incredibly beautifully moving lyrics that are beautifully written and sung.
The second verse of Walk On By continues wonderfully and this verse of the song is wonderfully put together, and compliments the chorus perfectly. The instrumental break down in the middle of the song is something that blends the song wonderfully together. The final verse of Walk On By which is a little softer which allows the lyrics to shine through beautifully. Everything about Walk On By is unique and beautifully blended together!

Alice starts with a guitar instrumental that goes beautiful into the first verse. The first verse sees Ashley's softer vocals at the forefront where she can be heard singing lyrics that are very relatable in many peoples lives. The lyrics are beautiful that happen to compliment Ashley's vocal rage wonderfully. The chorus features many magical lyrics which I happen to think are compliments rather well with the instrumental. The second verse continues Alice beautifully which I love especially as the moments of harmonies with a male vocal that is fabulous. The final verse of Alice ties every single part of the song together so beautifully especially the chorus.

Moonlight starts with a beautifully soft guitar and piano instrumental that opens the song up wonderfully. The first verse sees Ashley's soft but very unique vocal range being displayed which happens to allow the lyrics of the song to just shine through in the most gorgeous way. The chorus features many incredibly beautifully written lyrics that spoke so much volume combined with the instrumental it is magical - country magic! The second verse continues Moonlight magically with many standout moments within the songwriting that I honestly caught myself getting so captivated over. The lyrical ability is just stunning throughout this verse, and chorus. The final verse of Moonlight is stunning, and ends the song in a rather special way with an instrumental to end the song. Thank you, Ashley for writing such a beautiful song.

Good Vibrations starts with a little more upbeat instrumental which personally for me is one brave and wonderful move for this album as it allows the listeners to see many different aspects of who Ashley is as an artist. The first verse sees Ashley's more upbeat whilst still remaining a little softer vocals at the forefront of the song which I find rather special on this track. The chorus features many beautifully upbeat lyrics that are wonderful and are rather perfect for the song which I just adore - seeing so many different sides to Ashley's vocal ability. The second verse continues Good Vibrations with many wonderful vibrations within the beautiful storytelling. Good Vibrations has some wonderful catchy lyrics that I am catching myself singing along with at times. The instrumental break down in the middle of the song is just beautifully timed allowing Ashley's sweet soft side of her vocals there moment to shine. The bridge into the final chorus of Good Vibrations is something that I loved a lot, and what an end to this album from, Ashley.
