EPISODE REVIEW - CORONATION STREET AIRS SINEAD OSBORNE'S FINAL SCENES

Welcome back to another episode review after last night's special episode, tonight (25th October) saw Coronation Street viewers say a very sad farewell to Sinead Osborne (Tinker) as actress Katie McGlynn left the soap after 7 years on the cobbles.

Personally ahead of the episode, I am feeling very sad at the thought of saying goodbye to Katie McGlynn and Sinead because the storyline for me has raised so much awareness for me and my friends that we will never be able to thank Coronation Street enough for!

In tonight's heart-breaking special episode of Coronation Street, viewers saw Daniel Osborne giving Sinead Osborne's nurse a drink where he was seen telling her about Sinead having another accident which saw Daniel in a very sad way. It was devastating to see Sinead looking so fragile, I started crying! Sinead was then seen asking Daniel for a big bunch of flowers so that she can feel like she's outside is such an amazing thing!

Moments later, Beth Tinker, Kirk and her son, Bertie were seen by her beside where Beth was seen saying that she didn't have to forgive Daniel for what he did with Bethany Platt however, it is what Sinead does best and one thing I love about the character which I will miss terribly. There is something so special about Beth and Sinead scenes.
After the second blackout, Sinead was seen waking up in a lot of pain where Sinead was calling for Daniel who gives her pain relief leading to Daniel and Beth arguing over what is best for Sinead.

However, in the next scene, Sinead was seen laying in his husband's arm on their bed where he told her that Beth has gone to get Dr. Gaddas when Kirk enters and says Billy has come around leading to her asking Daniel to leave the room.
Once, Daniel leaves the room, Sinead was seen giving Billy instructions about her funeral which he promises to follow to the detail. These scenes absoultely broke me! Sinead talking about being her idea of dying had my heart breaking.

After another blackout, Dr Gaddas was seen looking at Sinead in such a fragile state and Daniel been told by Dr. Gaddas that Sinead is close to dying when she wakes up telling them both that she wants to stay at home leading to Sinead requesting for her mum which leaves Daniel shocked and the strong person he is trying to be is getting the better of him, understandably.

In the second half of the episode, Daniel was seen with Dr. Gaddas asking about how long Sinead has left where Dr. Gaddas was seen telling Beth that she's too fragile to move to a hospice which then leads to her telling Beth that her niece is asking for her loved ones.
Back in the flat in her bedroom, Sinead's family including her mum (FINALLY!) were all sat around her bedside which led to Sinead wanting to sit up. We finally got some wonderful family remising back her childhood in such wonderful scenes. Sinead's mum was seen crying at her daughter's beside which I have to admit had me crying!
In another emotional blackout, Sinead was seen struggling to breath and her family looked on worryingly to where she woke up telling Daniel that she wants everyone to leave leading to some emotional goodbyes including a particular one with Beth that had tears streaming down my face.
Once left alone, Sinead admits to Daniel that she is scared of dying and Daniel does his best to confront her despite him breaking down inside. This scene told me about how close you need to hold your loved ones and say I love you to them all the time!

In the third half of the episode, viewers were back in Sinead and Daniel's bedroom once again Daniel was seen holding his wife tightly alongside their son, Bertie who is always on their bed giving us a cute final family scene where Sinead was seen calling Bertie her miracle. Daniel was later seen telling Sinead about how worried he is about looking after Bertie when she is gone which give us a wonderful scene.
In a change of scenery, Ken was seen talking to Tracy, Carla, Peter, Adam around their table in the lounge where they were talking about Deirdre dying, Aidan's suicide and Adam's father's death... WOW, I wasn't prepared for this emotional scene.
However, back at Sinead and Daniel's flat, Sinead was seen talking to her husband about how she wants Daniel to be able to move on. Sinead is the most selfless person even when she was dying. But Sinead also wants Daniel to not forget about her to which Daniel's facial expressions say a lot moments later Sinead was seen saying 'but do forget about me.' followed by 'well that's an oxymoron' said Daniel and I caught myself having a giggle.
In the next scene, they were both seen laying on the bed with Daniel looking loving into Sinead's eyes and the fact that they don't move only to blink shows us how much Daniel really does love Sinead - the fact Daniel wasn't afraid to cry in front her, had me broken with Sinead getting more and more weaker by the minute and it was clear from this scene that the time was near!

This scene was the most bittersweet of the episode with it being the scene where Sinead passed away in his husband's arms. WOW, the tears came rolling down my cheeks.

In The Rovers, Chesney, Sean, Billy, Beth, Craig, Kirk, Tracy, Ken were seen sharing memories of Sinead. In the next scene, viewers were back with Sinead and Daniel where Daniel was seen reading their son a story where Sinead was seen slowly slipping away to which Daniel then realised and his world came crashing down and that his wife was gone.WOW, the tears came rolling down my cheeks.

The next scene of the episode, was when everyone in the pub went around to the flat after Daniel told them about her death giving us a beautifully silenced scene until Dr Gaddas arrived.
I really liked for Billy said a prayer for Sinead with Daniel walking now the street with his son in the rain whilst Sinead's body was being taken away. But in the final scene, Daniel was seen arriving back at the flat with Bertie where Daniel was about to start this next journey along. This scene of Daniel arriving back broke me as it wasn't long ago I was in the same position when a family member died, so that was the special person I was thinking about as I was watching the episode.

Katie McGlynn has portrayed this cervical cancer storyline in the most incredible way and one I hope she gets recognised for! I am also so incredibly grateful to Katie for agreeing to do this storyline with it having raised so much awareness! Katie, you are one incredible actress and I can't wait to see what's next for you!

Tonight's hour long episode was written by Ellen Taylor and directed by Michael Lacey - thank you for everything you did for us viewers in that episode.

This episode of Coronation Street aired on Friday 25th October on ITV.
