CORONATION STREET EPISODE REVIEW AS BILLY AND PAUL GOT MARRIED
Tonight's episode of Coronation Street (2nd October) saw Billy Mayhew and Paul Foreman finally get married in the shows first gay wedding with their loved ones surrounding them.
It's fair to say that both Billy and Paul have been on a journey to get to where they are today and have supported each other through many difficult, heartfelt moments especially with Paul's recent diagnosis.
The episode was filled with a lot of emotion for both Billy and Paul as well as their families gathered with Gemma and Bernie Winter both bringing the comedy at various moments that bought many fond moments.
However for me, one of my favourite moments came as Summer Spellman walked alongside Billy in the Bistro as these two have been through a lot over the past few years, but I became emotional as Paul chose to walk down the aisle with the help of his sister and mum - the smiles from both Paul and Billy were great to see.
The honesty through the vows Billy and Paul made to one another made me cry with the raw, beautiful, and honest words remaining true to their journey. The emotion during the bows broke me. You've gotta love that Shania Twain was playing in the background.
There were so many special moments throughout that honestly made the episode especially as Paul surprised Billy with a church wedding which led to the pair deciding have their second wedding with Summer, Gemma, Bernie, Todd Grimshaw, Dee Dee Bailey by their sides.
You could see how much marrying in a church meant to Billy, making it even more emotional in my opinion.
The final scene of the photo on the church floor of Billy and Paul's wedding, I can see a lot of drama coming.
Peter Ash and Daniel Brocklebank, thank you for a such a brilliantly acted episode.
Damon Alexis-Rochefort and Jonathan Harvey, thank you for writing a brilliant episode with much emotion.
This episode of Coronation Street aired tonight (2nd October) with Coronation Street continuing tomorrow (3rd October) at 8pm on ITV1 & ITVX.
Lovely to watch, so pleased they got a church wedding in the end.
