EMMERDALE EPISODE REVIEW - MANDY DISCOVERS ABOUT LIV & VINNY’S MARRIAGE

What a way for Emmerdale to come in with their new 7.30pm schedule time with a week full of drama.
With the new Mr & Mrs Dingle, Liv and Vinny having got married during Thursday 24th February’s episodes after eloping with their families in the dark that is until this week leaving Mandy devastated.

This week's episodes were written by Karin Young, Sarah Hooper, Sue Mooney, Paul Roundell, Adam Sales, and Bill Lyons and being directed by Brett Fallis on Monday, Mickey Jones Tuesday to Thursday's, and Friday's by Reece Dinsdale.

The week started with cousins Charity and Chas Dingle at loggerheads ahead of The Woolpack opening. As Mandy continued to plan the best day for Vinny as Samson Dingle spoke about Liv's asexuality with Vinny overhearing but like how Vinny stood up for Liv. Adore the honesty from Vinny as Chas walked in The Hop with Mandy telling them about the party plans. Chas made Eric Pollard an offer for her to be the manager of B&B which he was thrilled about with Charity in the background oh I loved the sass from the cousins as Chas announced the party plans.

Tuesday's episode started with Mandy, Liv and Vinny walking down the street as Liv questioned Noah Dingle it was lovely to see her not shying away and confronting Noah. One of the most heartfelt moments of the week happened as Mandy was handed the marriage certificate from Noah. However, after Vinny arrived where Mandy showed him the certificate it was pure devastation, Lisa Riley you had me in pieces. The honesty and intensity during these scenes were fantastically delivered. The emotions on both parts were well and truly justified - the dialogue was so powerful - I caught myself getting emotional showing how incredibly well Bradley Johnson and Lisa Riley work together.
In The Hop, Noah went up to Chas and Liv before dropping the news of the marriage it was great to see Chas thinking about Mandy.
Back at Wishing Well, Mandy told Lydia Dingle exactly how she felt letting her guard down with her vulnerability at the forefront. You can see how upset Vinny and Liv are but you have to understand why they did what they did! These scenes are so incredibly well written and delivered but the attention to detail - tears are rolling! Liv and Vinny just listening was a simple attention to detail taking it all in.
The way that Lisa Riley delivers every single piece of dialogue with such honesty and emotion - what an actress!

Wednesday's episode started with Liv doing her best to cheer Vinny up as Chas and Paddy walked in with them being happy for them. At least someone is! Following on from last night's scenes, Lydia revealed to Vinny that Mandy doesn't see herself as his real mum as Lydia words hurt Vinny. The fact the Dingles check in on each other was lovely to see. I love that Vinny and Liv agree to a wedding reception for Mandy. When Vinny and Liv went to see Mandy they revealed that they went her to be their guest of honour.

Thursday's episode
saw even more beautiful scenes being shared whilst filled with a lot of drama. Charity was thrilled as the episode started with the B&B having issues with rats causing them to move the location for Liv and Vinny's reception. As Liv and Vinny arrived at the salon ahead of the wedding preparations it was obvious that Bernice Blackstock had forgotten about Liv's alcoholism. A worried Vinny entered Wishing Well looking for Mandy as the party found new location the village hall.
Later in the salon, Paddy and Mandy had heartfelt conversation whilst taking a trip down memory plan - you aren't so different to Vinny and Liv after all.
Outside the village hall, Belle, Cain, Chas and Vinny waited outside, Liv walked down ahead of Sam as Chas looked over to Liv with pride over how beautiful she looked - love how happy Vinny and Liv are! It's not long before Charity stormed into the hall to have to out with Chas as the sprinkler system went off adding a lot more drama. You have to love the cousin drama. Mandy arrived leaving Vinny pleased just in time to save Paddy who choked leading to Lydia ranting at the Dingles for ruining the day - Lydia's find her voice. I felt for Liv and Vinny on what should be a happy day ruined. Arriving back in the salon, Vinny, Liv and Mandy where Mandy paid Liv compliment on her dress as she left Vinny and Mandy talk seeing Vinny open up to Mandy about why they did what they did it, but the openness from them both was special as their close bond was made even more obvious. You definitely saw how much Vinny wanted to make the day special as an idea came to his mind.
In the church, Harriet Finch gave Vinny and Liv the perfect unofficial blessing as they said their vows again, yes, I was an emotional wreck no one will be surprised!
The dialogue was heartfelt and beautifully thought through with many powerful moments and their vows had even more honesty to them than their elopement, but it was Liv's that had me teary as you could see how much Vinny's support meant to her through everything.

The week ended with Mandy in a happy mood following yesterday's gesture with her putting on a spread for the newlyweds at The Hop. Liv and Vinny are super happy but Liv bringing up what people thought of her and saying she doesn't need anyone's approval was amazing to hear. Liv and Vinny deserve to be happy. Seeing Paddy supportive of Vinny and Liv has been wonderful to see with a few exceptions, however it led to an honest chat for Liv and Vinny that was needed but the respect and openness was definitely needed.
Eric being honest with Chas and Charity was needed and what followed at The Woolpack following on from Thursday's episode that saw Charity broke down to Ryan about how she felt, however, it was the Eric/ Chas scene with Chas opening up, you could see a change coming.

Also, I have to say I absolutely loved the arrival of Rhona Goskirk's mum, Hazel played by the brilliant Louise Jameson it has been lovely to see a different side of Rhona. The more we discovered about the character and Rhona's past, the more you can see why Rhona is the way she is. The way that Louise and Zoe Henry work is beautiful, can't wait to see where the characters go from here.
Meena Julta continued with her mind games towards her sister, Manpreet Sharma had me shouting at my screen, however, I just don't understand why Meena is dropping Manpreet more and more into it. However, the amount of Vanessa and Charity scenes this week I was smiling. Vanessa being there for Charity when she needed her has been wonderful to see. I'd forgot how much I like the way Emma Atkins and Michelle Hardwick work together, but it was Charity's determined to see her to not give up on them was the sweetest. As much as I haven't always been a Vanity fan, I can't wait to see where they go because by the final scene of the week that's not the end for them.

These episodes of Emmerdale aired between Monday 7th - Friday 11th March on ITV.
