EMMERDALE EPISODE REVIEW - VINNY SURPRISES LIV AS DAWN AND BILLY GET MARRIED
This week’s episodes of Emmerdale have seen Vinny Dingle planned a romantic surprise for his girlfriend, Liv Flaherty which doesn’t run smoothly as Dawn Taylor and Billy Fletcher get married.
The week was all smiles for Dawn Taylor and Billy Fletcher as they prepared to get married, the drama all started as Meena Julta’s seen in the church before the guests arrive showing glimpses of Dawn and Billy in their wedding outfits, the hug that Will gave his daughter was sweet love how brilliant Dean Andrews and Olivia Bromley relationship is. At the church, Lucas entered ahead of Dawn leaving Billy thrilled as he looked to the door as Dawn walked down the aisle by Will, Olivia looked beautiful. The tense moment as the church door was blown open as Priya Sharma walked in. Dawn and Billy exchanged their own vows to one another which I have to say were perfect for the couple - the attention to detail was brilliant from Isobel Cameron. After the ceremony, the father and daughter heart-to-heart made for a lovely scene. During the final episodes of Monday’s episode, Dawn was seen being all excited over a limo arriving little did she realise Meena was the driver.
Tuesday’s episode started with an aerial shot which was very cleverly chosen of the limo on the viaduct with a terrified Dawn as Meena could be seen dancing about. What are you doing, Meena! Dawn could be seen confused as Meena revealed Billy in the boot. Dawn was held hostage she became optioned but this made for some intense scenes. The way that Billy defended Dawn was beautiful to hear revealing a jealous Meena. It wasn’t long until Leyla Cavanagh got injured having gone searching for them. Brilliantly, Billy turned the tables on Meena that she didn’t believe but you could see that he was only protecting Dawn who was petrified especially as Meena mentioned her son as Harriet was lying unconscious.
Wednesday’s episode, Billy was seen holding the cards in some heated scenes as Meena showed Dawn a photo of Harriet leaving Dawn scared. As tensions continue to rise, Dawn went after Meena showing what a fabulous actress Olivia Bromley is! As Billy freed himself he went on to save Leyla, as Charles Anderson told Liam Cavanagh and Manpreet Sharma about what’s happened as they realise that it was Meena behind it. The moment that had me on the edge of my seat was as Dawn arrived home seeing Harriet unconscious where she went on to save her son Lucas who was in the summerhouse – the camera angles were beautifully throughout about. Meanwhile, as the ambulance arrive at the viaduct, Liam was seen searching for Meena as she thanks him for following her Meena confesses to Leanna’s death as the mind games continue leading to Liam pushing Meena over the bridge the looks as the scene ended were beautifully captured.
During Thursday’s first episode saw Liam and Manpreet look at a lifeless Meena as the police arrive. The parallels to Leanna’s death. Jacob Gallagher was heart broke as he waited for news on Leyla; the dialogue was beautiful between David and Jacob. Manpreet and Liam were arrested as they were asked to give their statements on what happened. DS Swirling informed Harriet about Meena being in hospital. Later, it was revealed that Meena survived as Liam arrived at the hospital to see his wife. One thing I enjoyed the family unit from Liam, Leyla, David and Leyla. Meena awaking only to be spoke to by the police. The second episode saw Priya arrived as Liam was re-arrested for what Meena said in her statement as Manpreet worries for his sister’s victims. But as Billy, Dawn, and Will arrive back at Home Farm to Lydia Dingle as they made the best of a worst situation whilst Manpreet stuck up for Liam. Dawn and Billy finally got their wedding evening together after everything as they share their first dance. Meena was then visited by the police as they see through her fakeness.
Tonight's episode saw Meena being questioned by DS Rogers, the mind games she is playing is frustrating now but glad that the police are starting to see through them. The way that DS Rogers just dropped the evidence in to a shocked Meena – the walls are closing in. As Meena spoke to her solicitor is was obvious that Meena has no conscience as Meena twists the truth, liked the way that DS Rogers went to see Liam with an update. Finally, I have nothing but praise for Paige Sandhu’s wonderful acting during this week episodes.
The week for Vinny Dingle and Liv Flaherty starts with Vinny determined to make their Valentine’s Day one to remember as Monday’s episode saw Vinny pull out all the stops to make it a special day, but Paddy Dingle and cheesy lines had me laughing. However, as Liv was working she was questioned by a gang wanting photos, but Laurel Thomas was quick to defend her, later Liv felt embarrassed as she and Laurel spoke about what happened – Isobel Steele and Charlotte Bellamy have a wonderful bond in their scenes. Paddy told Liv about a surprise Vinny was planning that saw Liv arriving back to The Mill from her shift early the smile as she did saw Vinny know that she knew about what he planned for her, but what a sweet thing to do! Liv and Vinny were playing video games and laughing was sweet making for a beautiful scene. There’s something so beautiful about this pairing and how brilliant Isobel and Bradley Johnson work. However, as Vinny later surprised Liv with some earring which she thought was a proposal; you could see how devastated she was.
However Wednesday’s episode saw Vinny was rather upset following what happened as Liv rushed off as she played it down; the awkwardness. However, as Vinny arrived at Hop to surprise Liv where she apologised again for what happened leading to an incredibly sweet moment between the pair as Vinny got down on one knee to ask Liv to marry him, this scene made me smile. But Thursday’s episode saw the response from Liv being given after she stared at the earrings as Liv was confused by Vinny’s words leading to some beautiful honest words which led to Liv agreeing to his proposal. However, it’s not long before the day is bought back down with a bump as Chas Dingle arrived telling them about Meena coming back leaving Vinny shocked. The second episode, Chas told Liv that Meena’s gonna be fine as Vinny walks down the stairs to Chas’ words as Vinny worries whilst Liv spoke up with understanding. However, later in The Mill Mandy Dingle arrived as Liv looked for food as she assumed Liv was looking for alcohol where Vinny picked up on the tension as Vinny apologised you don’t need too.
The week ended with Liv accidentally telling Laurel about her engagement which Laurel is thrilled about, but it's not long before Vinny told Liv that he doesn't want a wedding as he came up with the idea of eloping which Liv liked the sound of.
Elsewhere, Chas was seen having a heart-to-heart with Cain after she climbed through an open window at Butler’s following Cain locked himself away. You have to love Chas’ determination which led to Chas confessing about Al Chapman as Chas finally got through to her brother once and for all with their heart-to-heart. Cain went to see Amy Wyatt about seeing Kyle leaving it up to him. Amy spoke to Kyle about seeing Cain as Kerry Wyatt listened talking her that she was proud of her this scene showed how their relationship as changed over the years. Later, Amy told Cain that he can see Kyle the next day, however when the time came they dressed up as superheroes. It really was lovely to see the softer side of Cain.
The episodes were written by Isobel Cameron, Chris Gill, Maxine Alderton, Liam Johnson, Andrew Kirk, and Sarah Bagshaw with them being directed by Matt Hilton during Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday’s with Thursday’s by Matt Hilton, and Friday’s directed by Tim Royle.
These episodes of Emmerdale aired between 14th – 18th February on ITV.
