WHY HOLLYOAKS STUNT THIS WEEK WAS AMAZING VIEWING

Everyone that knows me knows how much I love a soap stunt, and Hollyoaks over this week's evenings has given me one of my favourite Hollyoaks memories.

This week’s episodes were written by Richard Burke, James Coleman, Jayshree Patel, Alanna Hallum, and Karissa Hamilton-Bannis with it being directed by Miguel Guerreiro Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday whilst Thursday and Friday was directed by Dalkin Marsh.

The week's episodes started with the flames during a flash forward moment as Romeo Nightingale puts up the Dee Valley Fundraising sign.

Monday's episode: Marnie Nightingale was seen asking Juliet Nightingale to sell raffle tickets for the fundraising event as Juliet asks her about rings. As the episode continued, Juliet went to her ask James Nightingale for a ring as she tells of her plans to propose to her girlfriend, Peri Lomax. It was clear all Juliet wanted was her half-brother's support. Juliet later decided to play James at his own game as she waits for him in his flat as Donna Marie and Marnie arrive where she tells them about her plans to propose to Peri which they are excited about. Near the end of the episode, viewers saw Juliet on the rooftop preparing for her proposal she's nervous, but how sweet is the set up? Prince McQueen needs answers from his mother, Goldie as she opens up about her decision of giving up her boys Prince and Hunter McQueen for adoption but as Prince tells her that he is proud of her - what a sweet moment that was. However, things between Prince and Olivia weren't good as she's upset, but as he opens up to John Paul, John Paul's words were emotional ones, the attention to detail in the times was amazing to hear. The way that Maya continues to scheme throughout the episode left me with so many questions especially as she spied on Ethan as he went and met up with Nancy and Darren Osborne. As Ethan met up with Maya in the flat where she tells him that she knows about him meeting up with Darren and Nancy, the tension. With the party starting, Ethan rushes to save his family along with Darren. I have to say Maya is annoying me as she follows one of Ethan's family. Ethan playing Maya to stop and what happened next to Maya was an OMG moment, as another shot was heard... Titles roll! The drama I like to see as a viewer.

Tuesday's episode saw Mecredes McQueen with her son, Bobby as she meets up with her husband, Sylver, but it's not long before Goldie calls asking about Bobby's whereabouts. Romeo can be seen talking to Mecredes about Bobby as Sylver sees them due to him following her. Cher joins the hunt for Bobby. Later, Sylver gets in a taxi and leaves leaving Cher upset. Sid Sumner moans about heating and water as Leela Lomax and Peri talk about Juliet. Love Ruby O'Donnell and Kirsty Leigh Porter scenes.
Plans are continuing to come together for the Dee Valley Fundraiser as Donna-Marie surprises Marnie with a bike for her sponsored bike ride - Marnie's reaction was a picture. Yazz Cunningham was seen outside the hospital as she saw Peri and drops the wedding into conversation aware that Peri knows nothing of Juliet's plans leaving her confused. Peri is even more confused as Yazz explains leading to her Peri arriving home and telling her mum, Leela about Juliet's proposal plans as she tells her to be honest. The way that Ruby and Kirsty work together is wonderful. Saul 'Nate' discovered the truth about Toby Faroe killing Lisa Loveday. However, towards the end of the episode Toby was seen grabbing Celeste the panic as the family gather sees Toby deciding to confess to his involvement but fails as the flames start ending the episode.

The stunt's one hour episode on Wednesday 12th January, viewers saw Marnie Nightingale host the Dee Valley Heroes Fundraiser.
The episode started with an ambulance, and fire engines as they battle the fire.. The music choice is wonderful. Sylver's in the taxi as he orders it to stop as Cher calls, the Cher/ Sylver scenes with pure emotion before he continues on his way. Classic Marnie is out in force, but mixed with Juliet's sass - I love it. Jack Osborne's words to his son, Darren as he worries, Jack for some reason had me laughing. The drama with the oh moments. Celeste and Cleo wait for Toby at the fundraiser unaware that he is getting blood of his hand. Marnie welcomes everyone to the fundraiser leading to Jack talking to Ollie Morgan about what he is doing with Becky.
Marnie goes to see Juliet on the rooftop, Juliet's look says it all. Marnie and Juliet chat as Marnie allows her to choose a ring for the moment. The dialogue was perfect but Peri's face said a lot. However, as Juliet and Peri chat and Peri tells her that she's doesn't wanna get married the tension becomes apparent. I feel for Juliet. OMG! What a stunt from the Hollyoaks team!
As the episode continues Martine, Mecredes, Cher (who's voice you can hear), Celeste, and Cleo are all up as Ethan arrives to a scared and worried Donna-Marie. Celeste and Cleo look for Toby who keeps apologising as he confesses about Lisa. Felix is desperate to save his family. Saul 'Nate' in the van for a while before he escapes as he is outside of the event. Cher is so grateful for Mecredes help as Sylver returns coming to their rescue. Hollyoaks really know how to do a stunt!
Darren's at the hospital with Nancy as there is a heartfelt scene between the pair as they start to worry about Jack. As Cher, Sylver, and Mecredes leave they point Romeo who they rescue. Next, Juliet and Peri worry about how they are going to get out as Juliet begins to struggle the slow motion for that point, my face dropped. The attention to detail is incredible giving us viewers many special moments throughout the episode. I am getting so many flashbacks to the 2000 years of Hollyoaks. A lovely moment between Mecredes and Sylver was needed. Peri continues to worry for Juliet's safety as Marnie and Jack play cards before they are rescued. They all worry for Juliet with Peri. Donna Marie and Peri are worried for Juliet and Romeo who are both in bad ways. In the final part of the episode, viewers saw the building collapse as Bobby comes out alive following Sylver re-entering the building to rescue him - the relief as he walks out. Peri is with Juliet at the hospital where she Peri asks Juliet to marry her as she stops breathing, what panic! Jack and Marnie continue to talk and smile with one another. I'm loving these two already. Toby's still in the building with Celeste as Martine discovers Felix knew about Toby's secret.
The camera angles especially the close ups were wonderfully chosen. The music added a lot to the dynamic of the episode. RIP Sylver - what an exit for David Tag. Good luck for the future, David.

Thursday's episode started at the aftermath of the scene of the tragedy as Mecredes, Martine, Marnie says lines over it as they are in the hospital following certain characters and their injuries. Martine told Felix that Celeste is in the chapel, the devastation of their faces. The hurt is understandable. Andrea Ali thank you for being amazing and great to watch throughout your time on Hollyoaks. Meanwhile, Romeo is up talking with Donna-Marie as Marnie tells her about the fact of Juliet being in emergency surgery. Meanwhile, Ollie panics about what Becky did. Mecredes is still at the scene awaiting news on Sylver as John Paul comfort her especially as he confirms to his sister. James arrives to see Juliet as Marnie let's rip at him for his recent behaviour before he shares some home truths. James goes to see Juliet who's caught my Marnie who's listening to her heartfelt apology. YES, Juliet's alive! Mecredes then spoke to Cher and Bobby as Cher struggled with the whole situation causing her to leave the situation as she tells Bobby what happened to Sylver. The guilt and flashbacks from Bobby said a lot. Misbah and Marnie's friendship is something, I am enjoying. Donna-Marie and Marnie talking outside the hospital was one of those turn the page moments - beautiful dialogue! James walks out to see Misbah trying to save his mother, Marnie who viewers saw was the third tragedy.

Friday's episode (or Thursday's First Look episode) saw Romeo struggling after Marnie's death as Donna-Marie said as Ollie is ready to leave the village before he continues to look for information on the explosion. I liked the way that Donna Marie is there for Romeo and wants to do her best by him as they worry about James as Ste walks in. The villagers gather together to support one another loving the community spirit. Nancy worries about Ethan and Maya. James is angry, and goes to the police station wanting answers for his mother's death. This side of James is one that is needed for his characterisation. Romeo prepares to tell Juliet about Marnie as she talks about Peri and Marnie - I'm in tears at the way Romeo comforted Juliet they really need one another! Mecredes telling Cher that she is there for her despite everything, but the way Bethannie Hare and Jennifer Metcalfe work together is wonderful. Peri supporting Juliet as she goes to see the devastation and be with her family as this sad time. James anger I can understand but the way that Donna Marie stood up for her children is wonderful but the angry words were too much. Some of the villagers gather to mourn the three victims. Cleo goes to see Toby urging him to wake up with a heart-to-heart moment for herself, Cleo walking away shows so much strength. I am emotional for James as tonight's episode showed how much he loved his mum despite everything. But the moment Mecredes opened up about how she is feeling about Sylver's death to his daughter, Cher and Goldie - my heart broke for Cher and Mecredes the vulnerability.
Becky is arrested as James can be seen making a call to Marnie's phone. Oh James, I'm crying.

I have to end this blog but saying the BIGGEST of congratulations to all the teams on Hollyoaks that were involved in this week's episodes from the script writers, editors, the press and publicity teams, make up, costume, sound, directors, producers and all of their incredible assistants along with everyone else involved! Most importantly the way that the actors worked and had us viewers on the edge of our seats for the whole week.

These scenes aired on Hollyoaks between 10th - 14th January on Channel 4 with Friday's First Look first being shown on Thursday 13th January on E4 @ 7pm.
