TWO WEEK CORONATION STREET REVIEW - LAUREN'S ORDEAL

Over the past two weeks in my opinion, Coronation Street has included the perfect mix of comedy and drama you only have to look at last Friday's alone (2nd August) with the drama of Lauren Bolton having been mugged which led to the character's premature labour to light hearted moments from many characters in that episode.

The only part of the previous week that frustrated me was that one minute, Joel Deering didn't care about Lauren Bolton giving into premature labour following his actions which I will never understand you only had to watch the final scene in last Friday's episode (2nd August) where he visited Lauren in hospital and the close up of his face. To Monday's episode (5th August) of Joel becoming emotional when he sees his newborn son laying their helpless, I do think the realisation has finally hit him, and maybe he is regretting his actions but I doubt this is what he is thinking - I just wish Dee-Dee Bailey would open her eyes to see what her fiancé is really like, but that's where Joel is being very clever.
Joel can see Lauren is struggling and is continuing to use that even though the vulnerability from Lauren is emotional to watch at times, but I enjoyed the heartfelt scene between Lauren and DS Swain about being a new mother leading to them both opening up who is determined to get answers - really hope Lauren has a back-up copy of the email she 'apparently' deleted as we didn't actually see her doing this on-screen.

Over the past few episodes, we have also seen sassy Lauren and as well as her holding the key to the DNA test frustrating Joel. However, during tonight's episode (9th August) the way Joel rushed to see Lauren who all she wanted was for him to go shopping for her was funny as you can see she is playing him at his own game.

I have nothing but praise for the incredible Cait Fitton who definitely has a bright future ahead.

However, you have to be grateful for Max Platt being the only one to really care about Lauren since discovering her pregnancy - you can see that all he wants to do is help his friend through an extremely hard ordeal especially with all the reassuring words along the way. I am so grateful Corrie has remembered their friendship.
Just as I thought Lauren was going to open up to Max following their chat in the Bistro to her continuing to lie, although I don't think it'll be long before Max is back questioning her again. However, I definitely think Max picked up on her look towards Joel.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday's at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
