ALBUM REVIEW - LAINEY WILSON - WHIRLWIND

This Friday (Friday 23rd August) US singer-songwriter, Lainey Wilson will release her brand new album, Whirlwind which is made of 14 songs.
Whirlwind is being released via BBR Music Group/ BMG Nashville.

Lainey is known for taking her fans on a journey with her music and Whirlwind is no different with Keep Up With Jones bringing Lainey's fun country loving side to the song with catchy lyrics whilst letting listeners know that it is ok if you don't put up with your friends. Country's Cool Again follows on wonderfully with it being one of my favourite songs of the album that is also released - what makes you country to everyone is every different and I like that Lainey embraces this. The chorus is super catchy and the sass is spot on along with the vocal delivery being great with the softer tones mixed in beautifully. Good Horses featuring Miranda Lambert is a duet, I never knew I needed to hear with the beautiful story-telling mixed with a lot of love. Lainey and Miranda's blend very well!
Broken Hearts Still Beat features some sad soft vocal tones that I caught myself listening to rather careful as you can see how sincere Lainey is allowing for some of her own personal experiences to shine through along with the vulnerability was wonderful to hear. The verses blend perfectly together.
Whirlwind is a wonderfully crafted song with it being the perfect titled track for Lainey's new album allowing listeners in. Whirlwind is filled with love, and you can hear some vulnerable tones throughout.
Powerful is one way to explain Call A Cowboy with it's wonderfully crafted lyrics with some personal experience embedded along with a mix of tones that are incredibly timed. It's the little things that mean the most. Hang Tight Honey is the side of Lainey that reminds me of why I feel in love with Lainey's music back in 2018 as it is filled with some upbeat moments which made me want to sing along with the chorus.

The softer tones from Lainey throughout Bar In A Baton Rouge allow for many stunning moments that I couldn't help but listen to carefully with the chorus being my favourite but you can hear a lot of personal moments being shared. Counting Chickens reminds of 90's country and I love it. The song-writing is wonderful with some fun, happy moments as you think about what your future may look like as you dare to dream as you build a life with the person you love. The fact that Lainey is an open book with this song especially throughout this stunning album that is Whirlwind.
Wow, 4x4xU for me is the most poignant song of the album as Lainey wears her heart on her sleeve with this one as you can see so many emotional moments that I couldn't help but listen to especially as the chorus came in. The vocal delivery is beautifully thought about as the tones are delivered wonderfully allowing for listeners in for the journey.
The rocker song of the album is Ring Finger just because of the opening and sound that is delivered throughout all the verses and I can't work out if I like it or not - think it'll be a grower in all honesty, however, but the chorus I was loving it as the lyrics are so catchy and fun which is something I enjoy about Lainey's music.
The softer tone of Lainey's vocal during Middle Of It are beautiful as you can hear how passionate she is about the songwriting and the journey that the song takes you on. The chorus is standout and you can hear how much of a growth song Middle Of It is and it feels like Lainey is singing about her journey to get to where she is today in the music industry. Devil Don't Go There reminds me of the early Lainey Wilson music which was brilliant to hear on her latest album reminding you of how far she has come. Her song-writing continues to amaze me as she wears her heart of her sleeve you can hear a lot of hurt has gone into the song. Whiskey Coloured Crayon what a brilliant song to end this album with as you can't help but get all those homely feels that bought back memories of where I grew up, and all those special memories the chorus you can hear those heartfelt moments.
