CORONATION STREET EPISODE REVIEW - LAUREN BOLTON OPENS UP TO DEE-DEE BAILEY
During tonight's episode (19th August) of Coronation Street viewers saw Lauren Bolton's walls break down to Dee-Dee Bailey as she opens up about her ordeal in some heart-breaking scenes.
Following on last Friday's episode (16th August) where DS Swain was seen questioning Joel Deering following an admission from her daughter, Betsy continuing into this week as Dee-Dee became even more suspicious of her fiancé. DS Swain, I really hope you are the one to get to the bottom of their ordeal.
The revelations unfold rather quickly for Dee-Dee following her chat with DS Swain regarding Lauren as she asked Roy Cropper about the necklace she was seen wearing before her disappearance.
At her son Frankie's incubator, Dee-Dee visits Lauren before questioning her about involvement, but Lauren was quick to tell her about her son's improvement and rightly so - that's before she mentioned her planned move to Belfast which left Dee-Dee surprised.
Upon deciding to follow Joel to the hospital where he visited his son and Lauren, I didn't expect Dee-Dee to watch from a distance. It was the third part of the episode that saw some flashbacks begin with the clues all being pieced together - you can't help but feel for Dee-Dee!

The moment Dee-Dee began questioning the new mum where she finally admitted the truth in some emotional and hard-hitting scenes especially as they realised what Joel could have done to Frankie that's when the realisation hits them both hard! I found it so hard to listen to everything Lauren has been through as the walls began breaking down for the young character. I can see a wonderful friendship developing between Lauren and Dee-Dee.
Cait Fitton and Channique Sterling-Brown delivered these scenes brilliantly where I have nothing but praise for!
However, Joel overheard the two women talk, I was worried about what he could do next which became apparent as Lauren and Dee-Dee went to the police station and bumped into him who had been twisting the truth to Kit Green after they had been to chat with DS Swain who then needed to ask Lauren more questions as she arrested Joel at the same time - Lauren's terrified, she's not as brave as she leads everyone to believe! I can see this ordeal breaking Lauren and revealing a completely different side of the character for the better in my opinion.
I really hope Lauren leans on Max Turner who let's be honest has been the one constant friend that has been there for her since her arrival having always known how best to support her and I really hope Coronation Street remembers this. I'd also like to see Lauren's friendship with Roy return, but I don't know if that can get it to the way it was, however, even just a little bit would be nice.
This episode of Coronation Street aired on Monday 19th August at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
