EP REVIEW - KYLIE MORGAN - LOVE, KYLIE EP

Today (Friday 11th June), US newcomer singer-songwriter, Kylie Morgan release her debut EP, Love, Kylie EP.
Love, Kylie EP is made up of 6 songs.

Shoulda starts with a quirky upbeat electric guitar instrumental which sets the tone for the song up wonderfully. The first verse sees Kylie's sassy vocal at the forefront which I have to say had me up and dancing around the room thanks to it's catchy lyrics. The chorus throughout feature many fantastically catchy lyrics that had me hooked thanks to the edgier vocal from Kylie that you can tell she had clearly thought about. The second verse of Shoulda has this raw and emotive language mixed with honesty that within this song is fantastic as it allows for the song to develop into the wonderful song about the fact that we can something regret the previous evenings activities. The electric guitar instrumental ahead of the bridge and final chorus is something I loved. When Kylie's softer vocal comes in ahead of the final chorus of Shoulda is something that I loved as it ended the song in the most beautiful way. My final note on Shoulda is the more, I hear the song the more I adore the edgier vocal from Kylie.

I Only Date Cowboys has an electric guitar instrumental to start which sets the song up wonderfully.
The first verse sees Kylie's softer vocal range at the forefront with some beautifully catchy and sassy lyrics that had me hooked thanks to the incredible storytelling thanks to Kylie's incredibly songwriting skills which are showcased throughout. The chorus has this upbeat feel it to which listeners will love as the lyrics are catchy thanks to the passion. The fact that the chorus links to every single verse of the song is something in my opinion that is wonderful. I Only Date Cowboys has this wonderfully rich country feel that many listeners will be hooked on. The second verse continues with this perfectly thought about raw country feel with this raw typical country dating vibes. Everything about the chorus is perfect the more and more, I hear it - and love it! The instrumental break up is timed perfectly. Kylie's softer vocal returns in the bridge ahead of Kylie's edgier vocals returning for the final verse. Is there anything that Kylie can't do vocally?

Outdoor Voices has a upbeat funky sounding guitar instrumental to start which compliments Kylie's crisp vocal range from the very start to the very end. The first verse of Outdoor Voices sees Kylie's wonderful songwriting coming to life with this raw passion that has me excited about what's to come as the song continues to develop, and grow. I love how Kylie's uses many different vocal tones as it heads into the chorus which has this softer crisp vocal complimenting the lyrics fantastically. The second verse of Outdoor Voices continues with the message of growth, and how we are all where we are supposed to be. The more Outdoor Voices continues the more passion thanks to the even softer vocal from Kylie. There is something rather special about Kylie's vocal delivery on this song. The final verse once again sees Kylie's softer vocal tone return with ahead of a layered chorus which ends the song perfectly.

Break Things starts with a darker sounding instrumental from the guitar which I have to admit is something I liked a lot about this song before I heard any of the words. The first verse supported by the guitar gives a real country feel right from the start especially when Kylie joins in with her warm softer vocals giving the lyrics a chance to stand out on there own - the vulnerability you hear from Kylie as she goes into the chorus is something that amazed me. The chorus sees a different side of Kylie's vocals that I wasn't expecting with her emotional lyrics and the fact that Kylie isn't afraid to showcase her vulnerability is something that made me appreciate who Kylie is as an artist a little bit more. The lyrics are so open, raw and honest that I caught myself with tears in my eyes at certain moments. The second verse continues Break Things wonderfully, where the listeners could hear Kylie's even more softer vocal range come through as she sang this verse which in turn gave the lyrics the chance to paint a picture in the listeners head which is something that I love within the country music industry! Kylie - you are one amazingly talented songwriter. The bridge of Break Things allows the lyrics sang there chance to stand out before Kylie sings the final chorus in a little higher vocal which I have to admit ended Break Things in the most wonderfully beautiful way.

Cheating On You has a guitar instrumental to start supporting the song wonderfully throughout. The first verse sees Kylie's soft vocal tone opening up the song with the lyrics heartfelt lyrics that take you on a journey which has the listener really wanting to listen to every single word being sung. I love songs like Cheating On You that take you on a journey throughout the 3 minutes. The chorus features many catchy lyrics but ones that are also heartfelt at times too - you can hear so much vulnerability from Kylie that for me shows what an amazing artist, Kylie is! The upbeat instrumental supports Kylie's vocals wonderfully. The second verse of Cheating On You continues with the emotional guilt you can feel when you a relationship ends the vocal tone chosen by Kylie is key and shows so much about the artist she is making me love the track even more. I love how the chorus blends perfectly into every single part of the song. The instrumental break down in the middle of the song is wonderfully timed alongside the final verse of Cheating On You bringing the song to the most wonderfully end as the chorus is repeated for one final time.

Mad I Need You has an electric guitar to start supporting Kylie's wonderful vocals throughout. The first verse sees Kylie's crisp vocal at the forefront of Mad I Need You which allows for the wonderful songwriting to shine through. I love how it starts as a strong song before admitting that its ok to need somebody as it reaches to the chorus. The vulnerability within the lyrics is something that shows great strength from Kylie, and the fact that you can hear so much passion makes me think that it is based on  a real life experience. The chorus features an upbeat tempo with lyrics of strength continuing until you realise it's strength to also have somebody. The second verse of Mad I Need You continues with this relationship based verse about that most we meet that special person who makes our lives complete and you start to believe in yourself a little more than you always did. The chorus blends perfectly into every single part of the song. The final verse sees Kylie's softer vocal range returning which is wonderfully chosen as the final chorus comes in.
