*INTERVIEW* ROBYN RED ABOUT HER LATEST SINGLE, COUNTRY ROAD BLUES

On Friday 5th June, Scottish singer-songwriter, Robyn Red released her latest single, Country Road Blues, and I caught up with her to discuss the song, and her plans for 2026.

Hi Robyn. How are you?
I'm great! I'm in Nashville right now (at the time of writing) and I'm having the best time!

A few weeks ago, you released your brand new single, Country Road Blues, could you please tell us a little about the song?
Country Road Blues reflects on meaningful experiences and the passage of time. While it recognises that all good moments eventually come to an end, it also highlights the importance of keeping perspective and finding ways to stay optimistic.
Country Road Blues has a very raw and honest feel that I caught myself just sitting there and listening too, so thank you.

How have you found the response to the song?
The response has been amazing! Everyone is loving the song so much and I couldn't have asked for for it to be any better.

I have to ask as a lover of music, was there a certain reason behind the writing of Country Road Blues?
We started writing it as a joke. But then it turned into an important song about how I feel when I come off tour. I get the blues but I'll somehow find a pick me up!

How long did it take to write, record, and release Country Road Blues?
It took Phil, Scott and I a couple hours to write it. It took about two full days to record it, mix and master it. Then, I uploaded back in April for it to be put June 5th.

If you don't mind, I have a few questions for you:- What was the easiest and hardest part of the single to write?
It was all easy, the words just flew out onto the page. Some songs you're lucky to get that, for other songs it can take years to finish.

Did you write the chorus or the verses first?
Phil had the idea of the chorus before coming into the write so we had the chorus first.

How would you describe Country Road Blues in one word?
Catchy.

As an artist how did you decide on a single's release?
I decided I wanted to release this song because he crows always loved it, so I really wanted to release it when I released my EP From Caledonia With Love.

With us being half-way through 2026, what are your plans for the year?
I have a couple festivals, I'll be in Switzerland next month and then at the end of the year, I'll be looking to out out some new music *smiles*
Robyn, thank you very much for your time, and chatting with me today.
