EMMERDALE EPISODE REVIEW - DAN AND AMELIA SHARE A SPECIAL DAY

It's been a while since I've done a single episode review, however tonight's episode (16th August) was one that I really enjoyed as it was filled with happiness even through the sad moments.

*I have to say I loved how Emmerdale remembered to past of Dan and Chas Dingle.*

Emmerdale are really good at special episodes and tonight's was much needed in my opinion as the episode started with Dan determined to give Amelia, a special day before tomorrow, and like any parent you want to create as many happy memories as possible. The Yorkshire landscape as Amelia reached the destination was wonderful to see. Love that Dan just wanted to do something special.

The way that Dan presented Amelia with a scrapbook of all their memories was fantastic and filled with many special moments alongside a special piece of dialogue from them both as we learn a little about their journey as they remembered all the childhood memories they shared.

Despite all the fun and laughing around, the emotions came flooding back for Amelia who got rather emotional as she admitted that she forgot about what was coming, once again seeing how much they rely on one another seeing some vulnerability from the pair - the heartfelt moments between Dan and Amelia was very much needed as well as the making of more special moments with his daughter, and granddaughter Esther. However, it was Amelia telling Dan that tomorrow is coming no matter what and that need to face it and as harsh as that sounds it's true.

You've gotta like that Amelia is determined to be as independent as she can be as she asked Dan to go  over everything to do with the house, as he suggested Noah moving in which Amelia was adamant not to do and can totally understand why - don't add too much pressure.

Dan calling Amelia his superhero was sweet followed by some poignant words, but the final scene of them throwing the wild flowers was beautifully captured by David Beauchamp especially as they threw them up in the air looking towards one another. The realisation of what the day meant hits them once again as the episode ended. I am really going to miss Liam and Daisy's relationship on screen.

There was something so beautiful about Dawn Harrison's writing that made tonight's episode wonderful as well as Daisy Campbell and Liam Fox's acting - this storyline really has taken us viewers on a journey. Hard hitting storylines like this can't be easy for the actors as they just want to get it right for the people who have actually been through this, you have to remember that soaps educate us on difficult topics.

This episode aired tonight (Wednesday 16th August) on ITV1 & ITVX at 7.30pm.
Emmerdale continues with an hour long episode tomorrow (17th August) at 7.30pm.

  1. Another wonderful blog. I too adored the albums and I loved the fact he put a photo of Noah in it. I've loved the Dan and Noah scenes recently.
