WHY EMMERDALE ARE RIGHT TO SHOWCASE ITS YOUNGER CAST

It's been a while since I have written a blog like this but at the start of the year, Emmerdale producer, Jane Hudson announced that the show would be having its younger cast members at the forefront of 2021, and you know what they have been amazing over the past 8 months.

Gabby Thomas' teenage pregnancy has seen many different elements shown within her character which has seen the character become stronger in turn allowing for Rosie Bentham to give as an actress. The vulnerability within Gabby has seen the character lean on Laurel Thomas especially when it come to discovering she was pregnant, wanting to make her dad, Ashley Thomas proud despite everything, Diane Sugden and especially, Kim Tate since her pregnancy. The return of her mother, Bernice Blackstock back at the end of May as seen another side of Gabby that has been lovely as a viewer to see as you can see how vulnerable she really is, and this week as showed this side of the character once again, whilst also managing to show her scheming side even though I have a feeling Jamie is just using her to get what he wants after Thursday 5th August's double episode.
I have loved watching Gabby and Liv Flaherty's friendship return as they have supported each other through the loss of Leanna Cavanagh, this is one friendship I hope stays as Rosie and Isobel Steele work well together.
It's been a pleasure to see Rosie work alongside the great actress that is Claire King - Kim and Gabby scenes have made for some of my favourite scenes of the past few months for sure!

Liv Flaherty's drinking problems has gotten worse even more so since Paul Ashdale died which saw some emotional scenes between the pair in the run up to the barn catching fire with her wanting to protect her boyfriend at the time, Vinny Dingle from the truth. This has led to us viewers seeing some beautifully written episodes that have seen Isobel Steele grow as an actress whilst also showing great characterisation as well as from Bradley Johnson as Vinny.
Liv being diagnosed with epilepsy earlier in the year has also seen the character face another change in her life that could her a while to process as it would for anyone being given news like this.
Liv's back story being shown once again you can see why she is how she is, and even though you can see how lost she is, you can also see a lot of much pain that she needs to let her family help her with especially Aaron Dingle as all he wants is what's best for her!

Vinny Dingle, I don't know where I begin... With his father, Paul Ashdale and Liv Flaherty going head-to-head saw Vinny confused not knowing who was telling the truth to struggling to expect everything that was being said these were the moments that we really got know the character and all the hurt that he has been around throughout his life, and you got a real understanding of why he is like he is. Through the Vinny and Liv scenes we have seen over the past few months bought us some brilliantly acted from Bradley Johnson and Isobel Steele which adds another dynamic to the pairing - you can see how much they love each other, but you can understand why Vinny needed to leave Liv. I just hope they find a way back to each other. One thing, I have enjoyed seeing throughout all of this drama is his closeness to Mandy Dingle as Bradley and Lisa Riley work beautifully together.

Leanna Cavanagh played by the brilliant Mimi Slinger has been one of those stories that saw me get rather emotional over as the run up to death was tough to see play out because as a viewer I wanted to see her get her 'happy ending' with Jacob Gallagher despite him not being around for a while. Through this storyline viewers have also had the ability to see what an amazing young actor Joe-Warren Plant is, whilst seeing another side of Jacob that many viewers like myself have enjoyed seeing as we realised how much he has been through in his life. Despite how sad this storyline has been I loved looking getting to know Leanna's back story and seeing her relationship with her father, Liam played by the brilliant Jonny McPherson being shown in some incredibly emotional scenes - whilst highlighting that grief hits everyone differently! The attention to detail throughout the grief process with Liam banning Jacob saw some wonderful teen moments from the younger cast as they gathered to remember her at the pavilion in their own special way.

Sarah Dingle played by Katie Hill who this week as been wonderful in all of her scenes with her wanting to discover the truth about her heart and where its from alongside the history. It's been really nice to see on screen a lot more over the past few months, and especially over the past few weeks which has seen her becoming stressed about her own health since Leanna Cavanagh's death which has seen her start to think about her future. In Thursday 5th August double episode, it was lovely to see her vulnerable side as it allowed for us viewers to see how much her past affects her, and has affected her. Sarah relationship with her Cain and Belle Dingle is something I would like to see more off.

Ethan Anderson played by Emile John is a character I have to admit I was very sceptical of when it was announced as I didn't know what to expect however, Ethan has been a character I have enjoyed seeing develop from his friendships especially with Matty and Amy, his relationship with his father, the fact that he knows who he is and is proud was something I noticed especially during the pride episode back in June. I am rather interested to see where the character will go from here.

I have to give shout outs to Daisy Campbell aka Amelia Spencer as watching this character grow, and being on screen more as allowed viewers to get to know whilst watching her support fellow characters wonderfully. I am also have to say having seen Daisy grew as an actress over the past few years has been wonderful, Daisy you are so talented. Can't wait to see what's to come for you!
The same can be said for Sam Hall aka Samson Dingle as we have seen this character really grow and support fellow Dingle family members.

Thank you, Emmerdale for deciding to showcase the younger cast.
Can't wait to see what happens next for these characters.
