TONIGHT'S FIRST EMMERDALE EPISODE SAW JAMIE TATE GOING STRAIGHT IN THE ARMS OF THE POLICE THANKS TO BELLE DINGLE...

In tonight's first visit to Emmerdale (24th September), viewers saw that Belle Dingle decided to throw her 'boyfriend' Jamie Tate straight into the arms of the police by trapping him for the hit-and-run on Moira Dingle back in July.

Earlier in the week, actress Eden Taylor-Draper sat down and discussed her character's actions for what we have just seen, and hints at what is next for her character.

When asked about the twist which happened in tonight episode because we all know that recently Belle has been siding with Jamie Tate over anyone and anything, we saw things change with Eden revealing that "Over time, Belle obviously realised how awful Jamie can be, he did some awful things like not confessing about knocking down Moira, sacking Sam, paying Nate off - just for starters! So with Nate's help Belle hatched a plan to get more information so she could ultimately go to the police and get him sent down for everything he’s done."

Emmerdale viewers love a plot twist at times including myself but when asked about how she felt about the twist, Eden shared with the media: "Yeah, I really enjoyed the fact we preserved this twist. I think so often things obviously get leaked so when it’s a twist you don’t know about as a viewer it’s a real shock."

When asked about when she was first told about the twist, Eden revealed "I think I was told it was coming up during lockdown actually, I got a call to say“ what you’re reading is Belle faking and not Belle turning against the Dingles!” Initially, I was a little panicked that I was going against my family but it was all the twist."

It was nice to see that Belle is really a true Dingle at heart, and will do anything for her family, but when Eden was asked whether it was hard knowing that she did infact side with a Tate after all, she revealed: "I think it was really hard for her yes, in fact I can’t imagine being in that position. Even though she hated Jamie and knew he deserved to pay for what he had done I do think feelings for him are still there which makes it even more complicated. When Sam got sacked that was horrible for her and she just hopes the Dingles understand why she did it."

Viewers saw Belle start to worry from the very first moment, Moira Dingle confronted her blatantly to you think this changed her thinking in a way with her wanting to protect her family, Eden shared: "Oh my gosh yes, she was not expecting that, it took her by surprise and made her put her plan into action a lot quicker which is why it was all a bit slap dash before Cain got to him. Moira really quizzed her and put her on the spot. She did her best to lie but Moira knew and Belle had to act quickly."

When asked about Jamie now being arrested thanks to Belle's actions to you think that's it or will there be more drama to come, Eden replied: "100% more to come as it is Jamie Tate after all. I think Belle would be stupid to think he’d go down easily. He will have something up his sleeve but maybe something she doesn’t expect. I don't want to give anything away but there is so much more to come."

Tonight's episode also saw Belle stopping her brother Cain from beating Jamie up but when Eden was asked do you think it was the right thing or will Belle start to regret things, Eden revealed: "I don’t think Cain beating him up would’ve helped anything, Jamie would just get him arrested or something in a cunning way. I don’t think Belle will regret going to the police but I think she’ll regret starting to play games with him now he knows she was pretending all along - It could come back to haunt her."

When asked do you think that Belle having the help from Nate will help her with Cain seeing his son in a better light, Eden said: "I hope so! Belle wants the family to be strong and there for each other and over time Nate has shown himself to be a good person but there’s so much history there, so I think we’ll have to see."

This episode of Emmerdale aired on Thursday 24th September on ITV.
