EASTENDERS REVIEW: A ROLLERCOASTER OF A WEEK FOR LAUREN AND PETER AS BEX RETURNED

This week's episodes of EastEnders saw Peter Beale propose to his pregnant girlfriend, Lauren Branning who declined, however for me I personally think this is a great choice but the week continued to take the pair on an emotional rollercoaster.

The fact that the week's episodes started with Peter Beale missing the baby scan, you could see Lauren Branning was in for an emotional week and honestly if any character needs support it's Lauren! With Peter continuing to focus on his mum, Cindy Beale instead of Lauren really frustrated me.
As much I as like Peter and Lauren as a couple in the show, I have to say Lauren choosing to turn down his proposal in Tuesday's episode (1st April) after everything that happened previously with Cindy Beale over Christmas with Lauren thinking that she was the one that injured her, and Peter doubting his girlfriend, where is the trust? One thing however, I did like was the attention to detail and remembering certain moments made the scenes interesting.

Following Kathy Cotton confession about her being the one that attacked Cindy in last night's episode (1st April), Wednesday's episode (2nd April) saw Lauren and Peter had an emotional heart-to-heart that saw Lauren reveal the truth to Peter with his upset being completely justified. With Lauren trying to look to the future you could see how much she regretted turning Peter's proposal down leading to Lauren proposing to him in the middle of the Square leading to the pair finally having some happiness as the smile on their faces said it all!

During tonight's episode (Thursday 3rd April) saw Lauren and Peter's happiness continue as family members are thrilled for them, but the way that Lauren knew Peter was worried about his mum's sudden disappear saw a change in the couple. As much as Peter wants to keep Kathy and Ian Beale at hands length since Martin Fowler's death, he realised that it wasn't the best thing to do especially as there is a baby coming along soon, however, Ian offering to pay for Lauren and Peter's wedding it's like he thinks that all is needs to get back in his son's good books.

For a pair of characters that have loved each other for many years and always been involved in each other lives whether that's because of Lucy or their relationship, however, they have always found a way back to one another, let's hope the wedding is a happy occasion - but you have to remember it is set in Walford!

Elsewhere, The return of Vicki Fowler's is something I am enjoying and Alice Haig is a brilliant addition to the show - she has definitely done her research for the role.
It's also fantastic to see Jasmine Armfield as Bex Fowler ahead of  her dad, Martin Fowler's funeral during next week's episodes. The reunion between Bex and Sonia Fowler bought a smile to my face as it was nice to see these characters and actors reunited after 5 years, however it was the visit to the undertakers got me emotional especially as they said their goodbyes.

These episodes of EastEnders aired between Monday 31st March - Thursday 3rd April at 7.30pm on BBC1 with episodes also available from 6am Monday - Thursday on BBCi Player.
