WHY EMMERDALE WERE RIGHT TO SHOWCASE ITS YOUNGER CAST IN 2021 - PART 2

Following on from part 1 of this article that I shared back at the start of August, I continue to highlight why Emmerdale producer, Jane Hudson was right to allow the show to highlight its younger cast members at the forefront of the year making for some happy, emotional, and a raw set of mixed emotions in some of the scenes over the past 4 months.

Gabby Thomas' - I loved how in August, viewers saw Gabby and Liv Flaherty's friendship starting again - personally I have loved watching this as it allowed for many fans to see another side of the characters. At the end of August, Gabby was the biggest support for her best friend and supported her throughout her ordeal with what had happened allowing for many beautifully written scenes seeing another side of their friendship - I am so grateful for Emmerdale for allowing us viewers once again to see this friendship and how much it has changed over the years but it is definitely still as strong as ever.
At the end of September, viewers saw Gabby plan to elope with the father to her baby, Jamie Tate which saw her being let down once again as he never showed up, however, there was a reason as his car ended up in the water leaving both Gabby and Kim concerned. I loved the emotions shown during 24th September's episode. The scenes us viewers saw between Rosie Bentham, Claire King and Elizabeth Estensen were amazing - I love the Kim, Gabby and Diane dynamic.
Back at the end of September, I really enjoyed seeing Gabby and Dawn Taylor being given a scene that saw the characters realise that Gabby played them both - one scene I never knew I needed to see on screen. In October, we saw Gabby make the decision to move to Portugal with her grandmother, Diane which never happened due to Gabby giving birth. Gabby's birth scenes allowed for another side of emotion to come through with us viewers really wanting to help her with the reaction on my twitter for this was amazing to see - Rosie deserves the biggest applause.
Over the festive period, it was really nice to see how the character showed a lot of maturity whilst still showing a little vulnerability. Rosie and Claire King work insanely well together - please can this continue in 2022!

Liv Flaherty's issue with alcohol, which continued as it saw her end up in hospital in August after nearly dying if Ben Tucker hadn't have found her at Leanna Cavanagh's graveside that raised the issue of Liv struggling with her grief following her giving Leanna alcohol for her birthday. Following a heart-to-heart with her brother, Aaron Dingle at the hospital Liv said that she would give up the alcohol, I was very sceptical about this if I am honest. I have also really enjoyed seeing more scenes between Liv and Gabby Thomas allowing for Isobel Steele and Rosie Bentham to show their fabulous acting skills. The middle of August saw Liv and Vinny Dingle get back together despite Mandy Dingle not wanting them too, but she quickly changed her mind when she saw how happy Vinny was with her believing that she wanted to change.
At the end of August, Liv was under a lot of pressure from her brother and boyfriend thanks to their constant reminders which I could really annoyed about us a viewer because she really didn't need the added pressure from the pressure she had already placed on her shoulders. Later that week, Liv woke up in a state unable to remember what happened until meeting up with her best friend, Gabby Thomas who was the biggest support allowing for many beautifully written scenes seeing another side of their friendship - I am so grateful for Emmerdale for allowing us viewers once again to see this friendship and how much it has changed over the years but it is definitely still as strong as ever.
One thing, I enjoyed seeing within Liv's characterisation has been her honesty especially at the end of August which saw her be honest with Vinny following her relapse and behaviour which saw the pair break up even though it was the right way to go for the pair it was hard viewing.
At the end end of November, I personally really enjoyed seeing the vulnerable side of Liv returning as it allowed for Isobel to once again show what a fantastic actress she is! There is something so special about the way she works with Danny Miller that I will miss! Towards the end of the year, I have felt really sorry for Liv, but I am so glad that she has Vinny in her corner fighting for her innocence.

Vinny Dingle continued to show his vulnerability when it came to Liv as all he wanted to do is support her, and be there for her when she needs a friend. In the middle of August, Vinny and Liv got back together despite Mandy Dingle not wanting him too, but she quickly changed her mind when she saw how happy he was and how she was hoping Liv will change. However, Vinny was moving a little too quickly towards the end of month as she was seen praising his girlfriend a little too much and often which left her not wanting to let him down, which in the end saw Vinny broke up with Liv following a relapse which saw the pair in some emotional scenes once again. In October, I really enjoyed seeing Vinny having a scene with Gabby Thomas even if it did lead to Gabby lashing out to Tracy Metcalfe, and saw Vinny looking out for her in telling her boyfriend (at the time?) Nate Robinson - it was nice to see Vinny doing the right thing and not being afraid. However, the way that Vinny has been determined to support Liv throughout her ordeal with being in prison for something she didn't do has been wonderful to see as you can see how much Vinny genuinely loves and cares for Liv.

In August, Jacob Gallagher and Liam Cavanagh were seen supporting each other and Liam showing willingness to help Jacob with the next chapter in his life as it would have been something that Leanna would have wanted which made the scene even more special. In October, Jacob stepped up to look after David Metcalfe following his recovery. Jacob and Meena Julta were seen having a little heart-to-heart where Meena revealed he needed to watch his back following the break up of Meena and David. Seeing the development of Jacob's relationship with Liam over his grief leading to their bond becoming closer.

Sarah Dingle continued on her quest to find her heart donor in Gemma's family which led to emotional scenes as she met up with the donor's sister, Chloe which saw her reveal a little more about her sister in August. With the arrival of Chloe, viewers have seen another side of Sarah which made for some interesting viewing with the show highlighting this topic which many viewers from the mentions on social media the casting of Chloe has been cleverly done in Jessie Elland. Throughout October, viewers saw Sarah want to reconnect with Chloe following the blocking on social media which saw her and Noah start a little war.

Ethan Anderson has been a character we have seen develop more and more over the past few months, however, back in August we saw Ethan at the front of an HIV storyline which was highlighted perfectly with the attention to detail helping many viewers. The way that Emmerdale have handled this storyline through Ethan and showed the emotions people go through has helped many viewers.
In October, us viewers saw the more vulnerable side of Ethan through the discovery of his mother and the show deciding to talk about the Black Lives Matter.

Noah Dingle played by Jack Downham, I have to say has been a character I have enjoyed exploring on screen thanks to the arrival of Chloe, who's sisters heart was given to Sarah Sugden. There is so much to Noah that us viewers aren't aware off, however, 2021 has allowed us to learn more and understand why he is the way he is. Throughout October and November, viewers saw Noah's relationship with Chloe Harris continue with him following Sarah when she met up with her with Sarah and Noah starting a little war. The moment Charity got involved I loved the tension. As Chloe and Noah decided to leave the village together and Kerry Wyatt/ Charity Dingle stopping them was something I really enjoyed watching as a viewer.
Chloe Harris is a character I wasn't sure to mention but I have decided to because what a brilliant asset Jessie Elland has been to the show. There has been something about this show that I have absolutely loved watching as a viewer because there is definitely more to the character than meets our eyes as viewers making it wonderful viewing. The way that Kerry Wyatt was bought into this storyline was beautiful as it saw their genuine caring side to both of these characters. I like how Chloe has fitted wonderfully into village life.

I have to give shout outs to Amelia Spencer played by Daisy Campbell especially over her the fact that she has helped Liam Cavanagh through his grieving process making it feel like his beloved daughter, Leanna is with him. Daisy is an amazing young actress who I can't wait to see where the next few years take her.
Samson Dingle played by Sam Hall has been a recurring character that is viewers have enjoyed seeing more of especially in the way that he has been in storylines involving the other teens but my favourite was the one where all the teens got together to remember Leanna at the cricket pavilion.

Thank you, Emmerdale for deciding to showcase the younger cast throughout 2021. Bring on their character developments within 2022.
