CORONATION STREET CHRISTMAS REVIEW

The past three evenings viewings of Coronation Street have made for some of the most wonderful moments.

Coronation Street have managed to get the perfect blend of drama, comedy, grief, heartfelt moments, different dynamics from key characters and more.

One thing I really liked and enjoyed was the way that they worked in their continuing storylines with Daniel Osborne and Daisy Midgeley will they/ won't they get together which I am personally liking to see as are many viewers.

I have nothing but praise for the way that the show has shied away from the topic of grief with Abi Franklin over her son, Seb who tragically lost his life earlier this year, the way that Abi wanted to make everything perfect despite everything she is feeling. But the moment, Kevin Webster surprised her with her twins that Seb set into motion made for emotional viewing. Yes, I cried!
Boxing Day's episode saw Abi tearing into Kelly Neelan once again after she leaves flowers for Seb - I understand Abi is grieving, but Kelly is trying to show her remorse I really hope Abi finds a way to move on even if it's staying out of each other's way. I like that Kelly has Dev and Aadi Alahan in her corner as she tries to turn her life around. I get that you are hurting but going after Kelly is helping no one, and only hurting yourself even more. I really for Kelly as well as all of this.

The comedy from Daisy was every much needed, but the way that she wore her heart on her sleeve on Christmas Eve as she went to tell Daniel how she feels only to discover it's Ken Barlow. But towards the end of the episode on Christmas Day the comedy from Phil Whittaker, and Tyrone Dobbs following their fight for Fiz.

Roy Cropper returning when Nina Lucas needed him the most as she has been struggling so much since her Seb Franklin's death, saw her open up to Roy in a heartfelt conversation telling him about her anxiety. The bond that Nina and Roy have is one of the sweetest! The moment Nina opened up to Asha Alahan was a sweet moment for the characters as Asha's beautiful understanding grows so much about the character, and the love between them.

The joint Barlow/ Platt Christmas was a funny dynamic as it's two of the shows key families who have a lot of past, and it's no surprise it doesn't end well.

The Christmas spirit at the end and start of Christmas Day shows such a community feel especially with the carols around the piano in the street made me smile. The cast involved deserve the biggest appreciation!

Other key moments over the episodes were when the Steve McDonald, Emma Brooker, Curtis Delamere drama with words from Eileen Grimshaw spoke volumes. The Eileen, George Shuttleworth, and Gail Platt had me laughing especially with George's present and the way that Gail was involved. Very old school, Corrie feel. Jenny Connor struggling on her first Christmas without her husband, Johnny got me thinking about the characters we have lost this year.
I really liked the nod of the pigeon to Jack Duckworth, don't even more if it was.
The smile during Boxing Day's episode saw Nick Platt, and Leanne Battersby smiling over Sam's biggest step in talking for the first time in months.

I have to give a special shout-outs to Jonathan Harvey who wrote Christmas Eve's episode, Damon Alexis-Rochefort who wrote Christmas Day's episode, and Carmel Morgan who wrote tonight's episode with the directing for the episodes by David Beauchamp, Brett Fallis, and Duncan Foster.

The episodes mentioned aired in Coronation Street on Friday 24th, Saturday 25th, and Sunday 26th December on ITV.
