*MY OPINION* WHY CAIT FITTON IS A GREAT ADDITION TO CORONATION STREET
It's safe to say that from the very moment, Cait Fitton joined Coronation Street in November 2022 that her character, Lauren Bolton was a very complex character.
Over her time on the Weatherfield based soap, Lauren has been involved with some brilliant storylines along with some funny, heartfelt, and tough scenes. Lauren is one of those characters that I've enjoyed to see develop within a soap.
With Cait Fitton having returned to Weatherfield during Monday 8th July's episode, Lauren has become a lot more of a vulnerable character and rightly so after everything the character has been through.
However, it was during Tuesday 9th July's one hour long episode that saw Lauren reveal her pregnancy with Joel Deering's baby in some emotional scenes I have nothing but praise for this episode and for both Cait and Calum Lill. The emotional journey that Cait took you on was brilliant and showed what a great young actress she is!

During Friday 2nd August's episode where Lauren gave birth to her son at 24 weeks with Max Turner by her side in what was great to see as their friendship is one thing I wish Coronation Street would remember more often. Lauren has definitely become more vulnerable and who can blame her. A standout moment for me was during Monday 19th August's episode as viewers saw a scared new young mum open up about her ordeal with Joel back at the start of the year to his fiancee, Dee-Dee Bailey which saw her realise the extent and vulnerable Lauren returned these scenes saw the walls come down followed by some tense and emotional times.
As the storyline has developed into September with Monday 2nd continued to allow viewers to see a more vulnerable Lauren come to life that especially during this week's episodes which were full of twists and turns as she was told that her son had suffered a seizure. It's been great to see Max being around for Lauren when she needs a friend as these situations she is facing are never easy, so to have a supportive friend is everything! The directing from Vicky Thomas this week has been brilliant especially the close-up that opened Wednesday's episode.
However, Betsy Swain's involvement which was revealed during last night's episode (20th September) surprised me we all know what Joel can do to get what he wants, but at last we know the truth now, and hopefully justice can finally be served for everyone involved.
Cait Fitton, this storyline has allowed you to show people what a brilliant actress you are and the attention to detail from the writers, to the research that has gone into this storyline, and finally to the actors involved Calum Lill, Channique Sterling-Brown and Paddy Bever so thank you, Coronation Street.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday's at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
