DEBUT SINGLE REVIEW - LAUREN HALL - BACKWARDS

This Friday (1st May) will see US singer-songwriter,  Lauren Hall  release her debut single, Backwards. Backwards  starts with an guitar and drum instrumental which I have to admit, I am loving and it suits the song all the way through and in a way, if I am being honest I didn't think would. The first verse showcases who Lauren is as an artist with her soft vocals which compliment the lyrics in a way, I didn't think would, so I was moved right from the start. The lyrics are given there chance to shine through too, with the song in which they have been written and clearly been thought about very careful. The chorus of Backwards is the part of the song that I caught myself really getting to know who Lauren is as an artist and it's one a lot of people will love and being taken in by I'd like to hope in the most beautiful way. The lyrics showcase a real vulnerable side of Lauren, which I think is absolutely fantastic. Lauren's songwriting skills a...

DEBUT EP REVIEW - BECOMING BRANCHES WITH THEIR DEBUT SELF-TITLED EP, BECOMING BRANCHES

Image
Back on 13th March, 2020, Becoming Branches released their debut EP, Becoming Branches. Becoming Branches are a Country-Folk-Pop trio from the New Forest made up of Jaz, Rob and Hannah which was formed in 2018. Becoming Branches features 5 songs. Take You Home starts with a beautiful guitar instrumental which is something I love hearing on an opening track. The first verse sees a female lead vocal with a crisp tone which allows us listeners to get a real feel for the track and what it's about within the first few lyrics. I love the demonstration of vocal ranges allowing the lyrics to shine through. The chorus sees the trio's wonderful harmonies come in to play as well as hearing a male vocal which works amazingly on this song. The second verse continues with a female lead which works perfectly for the lyrics and the song makes me wanna sing along despite not knowing the lyrics. The final verse of Take You Home sees the song bought to it's most natural and beautiful e...

INTERVIEW WITH CAROLINE JONES AS SHE CHATS ABOUT HER LATEST EP, ALL THE BOYS

Image
I am very excited to be able to bring you my interview with US Country Music artist, Caroline Jones as I spoke to her about her latest EP, All The Boys and her 2020 plans. Photo Credit: Tyler Lord Good Afternoon, Caroline. I can't quite believe I am finally interviewing you as a fan of yours, I had the privilege of seeing you last year at C2C. How are you doing during this time of quarantining? I’m doing very well thanks. The silver lining of this challenging situation is that I have an abundance of time and space to be creative. I am very glad to hear that you are well, Caroline. Congrats on the EP release of All The Boys. I have to ask where did the title come from? The title came from the hook “I make friends with all of the boys, but I make love to you”. I was inspired by the play on words using “make” - “make friends” vs. “make love”, phrases which share the same first word but are on opposite ends of the spectrum as far as meaning. ...

INTERVIEW WITH ELERI ANGHARAD ABOUT HER LATEST SINGLE, BLANK WALLS WHILST WE GET TO KNOW HER

Last Friday (24th April), I caught up with Swansea based artist singer-songwriter, Eleri Angharad to talk about her brand new album and single whilst always talking about her musical journey. Earlier this month, Eleri released her album, Earthbound followed by her latest single, Blank Walls. Good Afternoon, Eleri. How old were you were you decided to start writing your own songs? And when did you write and perform your first song? I picked up my first guitar at 13 which is when I started writing songs. We wrote a song called Cider & Chocolates and first performed at a mini festival...

SINGLE REVIEW - SOUTHERN HALO - DON'T LET ANOTHER DAY GO BY

Image
Today (Friday 24th April) will see US sibling duo, Southern Halo  made up of Natalia and Tinka release their first single as a duo, Don’t Let Another Day Go By. Photo Credit: Danielle Del Valle Don't Let Another Day Go By starts with a wonderfully rocky electric guitar instrumental which is very Southern Halo styled which I absolutely adore. The introduction to Don't Let Another Day Go By sees Nata and Tinka vocals harmonise in an incredible beautiful unique way before a little drum instrumental ahead of the first verse. The first verse sees Nata take lead on the vocals which allows her the moment to shine with the lyrics being able to shine through beautifully. There is something about the songwriting in the song for me that is incredibly moving. When Tinka joins Nata, I caught myself getting a real feel for the song as there is nothing like sisters uniting. The chorus sees Nata and Tinka work incredibly well together with the vocal tones merging...

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of catching up with my good friends, Southern Halo made up of sisters, Natalia (Nata) and Christina (Tinka) Morris. Southern Halo recently want from a trio to a duo as their sister, Hannah left to pursue her dreams of Interior Design. Photo Credit: Danielle Del Valle Good Afternoon, Natalia and Tinka. Nata: We are currently being quarantined at our family home in Cleveland, MS until it is safe to return back to the city!   Tinka: We're fortunately quarantined here in the Mississippi Delta with our family at the moment. We figured it would be easier to social distance in a small town rather than a big city. Also, who better to be stuck in a house with for a long period of time than your family? I love that you are with your family allowing you all to have some incredible family tim...

SINGLE REVIEW - POPPY FARDELL - BETTER START

Today (Friday 17th April) will see British singer-songwriter, Poppy Fardell release her latest single, Better Start. Better Start  starts with a beautifully softer guitar instrumental which is instantly complimented very well by Poppy's vocals. The first verse of Better Start sees Poppy's soft vocal which I love as the lyrics are ones that just roll of your tongue and work so well together. The lyrics allow you to paint a wonderful image in your head whether it's about Poppy's version or from a situation in your life which I think is just wonderful. I also like how Poppy isn't afraid to wear her heart of her sleeve within her singles allowing her heartfelt vocals to shine through. The chorus is the part which listeners will see Poppy's vocal a little more upbeat whilst also having a little vulnerable moment within song - this was something that I absolutely loved. The lyrics of the chorus are very heartfelt making me just want to hug Poppy after thi...

ALBUM REVIEW - TWINNIE - HOLLYWOOD GYPSY

This Friday (17th April) will see British singer-songwriter, Twinnie release her debut album, Hollywood Gypsy. Hollywood Gypsy is made up of 11 songs all written by Twinnie herself with some co-writers. Type of Girl is one country-pop kind of song which shows off Twinnie's sassier side which I absolutely adore. Type of Girl starts with a quirky sassy instrumental which I absolutely adore. Type of Girl is perfect song to open Twinnie's debut album with it being more upbeat and quirky which breaks the three songs up wonderfully in my opinion. The first verse opens with some of the most honest and relatable lyrics in my opinion as I caught myself relating to them so much. Type of Girl tells such a beautiful and honest story within the chorus especially thanks to the catchiness of the lyrics which I felt myself instantly relating too within my school years and the chorus is so fun and funky which works really well. The second verse showcase...

SINGLE REVIEW - SARAH WATSON - ELECTRIC BLUE

Image
In February, British country music singer-songwriter,  Sarah Watson released her debut single, Electric Blue. I had the pleasure of hearing Electric Blue back in January at a gig in London, and I am excited to finally sharing my review of the song. Photo Taken by Me Electric Blue starts with an electric guitar instrumental which for me gives you a real feel for the song ahead. The first verse sees Sarah's crisp vocal range some through in the most unique way allowing the lyrics to just roll of her tongue which was something that I loved. The lyrics are ones of pure empowerment in a way that only Sarah can do. The chrous feature some wonderfully catchy and honest lyrics that bring the chrous together beautifully allowing Sarah's warm and crisp vocal continue to shine through. There is something so memorizing about Sarah's vocals. The second verse continues Electric Blue wonderfully as the electric guitar continues with the perfect speed...

ALBUM REVIEW - MADDIE AND TAE - THE WAY IT FEELS

Today (Friday 10th April) will see US singer-songwriter duo,  Maddie and Tae release their brand new album, The Way It Feels. The Way It Feels which is made up of 15 songs and 14 of which have been written by the ladies themselves, Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye. The Way It Feels was produced by Jimmy Robbins and Derek Wells Everywhere I'm Goin' starts with a beautiful instrumental which sets the tone of the song off in the most brilliant way. The first verse shows off Maddie & Tae's glorious harmonies before Maddie comes in solo with her softer vocal range showcasing the beautiful lyrics and allowing us listeners the chance to create our own vision for the song - songs like this for me are just magical. The chorus is my favourite part of Everywhere I'm Goin' because the lyrics are so honest and allowed a beautiful continuing of the story thanks to the stunning lyrics and story-telling. The second verse continues the song fantastically a...

SINGLE REVIEW - LEE BRICE - ONE OF THEM GIRLS

Today (Friday 10th April) will see US singer-songwriter,  Lee Brice release his latest single, One Of Them Girls. One Of Them Girls was written by Lee and I am happy I got to review it. One Of Them Girls starts with a wonderful guitar instrumental which sets the tone for the song wonderfully with it being soft to start, however, it changes for the beat of the song and it's lyrics which I have to admit, I like a lot. The first verse of the song is one that shows Lee's vocal range wonderfully and I have to admit I love the way that Lee is able to get the meaning of the song across whilst trying to make the lyrics catchy and fun - I am hearing another side of Lee which I have to admit I am loving! The chorus super catchy and upbeat whilst wanting to sing along with One Of Them Girls despite the fact that I did not know the lyrics but still had me singing - songs that can do this to me are just fabulous. The second verse continues One Of Them Girls be...
