ALBUM REVIEW - MADDIE AND TAE - THE WAY IT FEELS

Today (Friday 10th April) will see US singer-songwriter duo, Maddie and Tae release their brand new album, The Way It Feels.
The Way It Feels which is made up of 15 songs and 14 of which have been written by the ladies themselves, Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye.
The Way It Feels was produced by Jimmy Robbins and Derek Wells

Everywhere I'm Goin' starts with a beautiful instrumental which sets the tone of the song off in the most brilliant way. The first verse shows off Maddie & Tae's glorious harmonies before Maddie comes in solo with her softer vocal range showcasing the beautiful lyrics and allowing us listeners the chance to create our own vision for the song - songs like this for me are just magical. The chorus is my favourite part of Everywhere I'm Goin' because the lyrics are so honest and allowed a beautiful continuing of the story thanks to the stunning lyrics and story-telling. The second verse continues the song fantastically and the more the song goes on the more I adore Maddie & Tae's songwriting abilities along with Jimmy and Joh's especially with their heartfelt lyrics. The bridge of the song finishes the song off fantastically along with the repeat of the chorus. Maddie & Tae are two incredible artists who I am very excited about and I can't wait for them to come back to the UK.

Bathroom Floor starts with a funky yet rocker instrumental which I adore right from the start. The first verse shows off the sassy side of Maddie and Tae and a side of the girls, I always knew was there but never realised I needed to hear. The lyrics are very relatable and written from the heart and at a time the girls needed to write a sassy song for sure. The chorus is super fast and catchy which I absoultely love and these girls have definitely chosen the best time to release an amazing sassy song like this at the start of September when most people need a song like this as normality hits. The second verse continues the song in the most wonderful way with the sassiness and honesty within the lyrics. One part of the song that I caught myself singing along with as well as the chorus. The guitar instrumental before the final chorus worked well breaking the song up at a time when it was needed.
The bridge showcased the girls softer vocal range before the final chorus which I was dancing along too. I am very excited to hear this song live.

My Man starts with a guitar and drum instrumental which is rather upbeat. The first verse is sung by Maddie and I have to admit her vocal tone is just wonderful complimenting the lyrics in such a wonderful way. Maddie and Tae's harmonies are just stunning, I love their harmonies. The chorus is super quirky and fun with the lyrics bringing the verses together every single time. Maddie and Tae are just absolute geniuses when it comes to songs like My Man. The second verse sees Maddie on lead vocals in her crisp heartfelt vocal which gave me chills. The lyrics are so fun whilst also being heartfelt which is a great blend. The bridge of My Man sees Maddie and Tae's tone change in a way that I wasn't expecting but it worked fabulously well ahead of My Man ending with the chorus which ended the song beautifully alongside the instrumental.

Tourist in the Town starts with beautiful guitar instrumental which is slowly joined by Maddie and Tae's beautiful vocals. The first verse starts the song beautifully showcasing their wonderful lyrical ability while also setting the scene for Tourist in the Town about always having tourists in your town and you got to hear how others feel when others go and visit someone else's town. Tourist in the Town is one song I can't help but feel inspired by with wanting to go and visit a new country. Tourist in the Town allows you the opportunity to think about that one trip which you got lost and you did exactly what they sung about (or is this just me?) The instrumental in the middle of the song separated the final verse and chorus fabulously giving it a little more life and a chance to reflect on that one trip I am sure we have all experienced?! All three verses of Tourist in the Town allow Maddie and Tae's to show case their vocal range amazingly and the lyrics of their song are just incredible as well as being inspiring however you can feel a little heartache within the song. Tourist in the Town is one song I have a feeling I will be playing a lot as Summer is approaching.

Drunk Or Lonely starts with a slow and slow instrumental from a guitar. The first verse sees Tae's super softer vocal range come through in a gorgeous way that gave me chills right from the start as it complimented the lyrics in such a wonderful way that I wasn't expecting. The chorus is one that is fun but also heartfelt but I have a feeling a lot of Maddie and Tae fans are going to like this song, a lot because of its catchiness. The second verse continues the wonderful songwriting and message within the song beautifully allowing Maddie and Tae's vocals to shine through. The lyrics are beautiful and fun, I couldn't help but try and sing along with them. The instrumental in the middle is just the perfect break down leading into the bridge ahead of the final chorus which ends Drunk or Lonely in the most beautiful way.

One Heart To Another has a guitar instrumental to start which allows Maddie's vocals as she opens the song to shine through and you can hear how much Maddie is relating to the lyrics within the first verse but it's not long before Tae comes in with her vocal. The chorus got me a little emotional the more I was listening to the lyrics. Maddie and Tae have definitely thought about the lyrics within One Heart To Another and it definitely shows. The second verse continues the storytelling beautifully. The instrumental in the middle of One Heart To Another is just incredible as it breaks the song up wonderfully and once the girls continue their softer vocal range is definitely shown making this song super magical. One Heart To Another is my favourite song from this EP.

Tryin' On Rings starts with a what I call a fantastic Maddie and Tae's sounding instrumental with drums which I adored straight away. The first verse is very heartfelt which has both of the girls stunning vocals and their storytelling is so honest and very special because you instantly get the feel that it's about their relationships and where they both happen to be today! The second verse features Maddie and Tae's softer vocal range. The chorus features some wonderful lyrics which happen to take you on a journey from how the relationship started to where they are today that gave me goosebumps if I am honest because it is so beautiful and I feel so proud of them for their journey and inspiring young women to know their worth. The final verse is the part of the song that I caught myself getting emotional over because it made me stop and think then realise how far Maddie and Tae have come not only as artists but as people too. Tryin' On Rings is definitely my favourite song of this album.

Write A Book starts with a electric guitar instrumental setting the song off in a different way, which broke the album up wonderfully. The first verse sees Maddie opening with her crisp vocal range which I have to admit complimented the vocals wonderfully. I love the fun loving but very honest lyrics within the first verse as you can hear it's written on a past experience. The chorus is one that made me want to get up and sing and dance too thanks to it's super catchy and fun lyrics. The second verse continues Write A Book wonderfully and written after the situation happens and I love the attention to detail from Maddie and Tae within the songwriting, it's breathtaking how much you can't help for anyone in that situation. The final verse and the bridge were two wonderfully parts of the song as it headed into the final chorus bringing the song to its most natural end.

Water In His Wine Glass starts with a guitar instrumental which compliments Maddie and Tae's vocal as they start the song. The first verse sees Maddie and Tae take the lead vocal together allowing them time to showcase their beautiful harmonies. The songwriting, the vocal tone, the lyrics are just incredible throughout Water In His Wine Glass beautifully and the chrous blends beautifully into this verse. The chorus features some super heartfelt vocals which left me feeling a little emotional as I couldn't help but feel myself able to relate to a certain line of the song. The second verse of Water In His Wine Glass continues beautifully thanks to Maddie and Tae's beautifully honest vocal range - something I can't help but find breathtaking. The final verse sees the meaningful side of Maddie and Tae's vocal shine through as they soft their vocals down ahead of Water In His Wine Glass ending with the chorus which for me was the perfect end.

Ain't There Yet starts with a rocky guitar instrumental. The first verse shows off Maddie's softer heartfelt vocal range which Tae comes in and harmonies on near the end of the verse getting the song a little but more feel which I really enjoyed. The chorus is upbeat and funky which is amazing and shows off Maddie & Tae's new direction and the lyrics are very heartfelt and the journey the song has taken you on is amazing, makes me want to have more and more - which is a massive credit to the songwriters. The second verse continues the story telling of the song wonderful allowing the listener to go off into their own little world and relate to the lyrics or at least I certainly did. The bridge of Ain't There Yet is the part of the song that made me a little emotional and to be honest I never expected to happen but I  caught myself very closely listening to the lyrics that was the problem but one I am very grateful for. The chorus finishing the song was the most wonderful thing that could have happened for this song. Ain't There Yet is one song I am very grateful for at this moment in my life.

Lay Here With Me (ft Dierks Bentley) starts with a beautiful soft instrumental which takes us listeners instantly into the first verse which Maddie sings on in her softer tone which instantly hooked me and had me listening to every single word that was being sung. The chorus is sung by both of the girls which is absoultely stunning and I adore Maddie & Tae's harmonies. The song-writing of the chorus is the most precious thing about this song especially as they are so heartfelt. The second verse is sung by Dierks giving you the idea that heartbreak has just happened and that all you just want do is lay with that very special person which leads beautifully into the chorus. The bridge of Lay Here With Me is just so special and raw with honesty that I caught myself with tears in my eyes as Maddie and Tae's lines in the bridge were sung before Dierks joined them on the chorus for a final time.

Friends Don't starts a wonderful instrumental even though it does also set the tone for an emotional song. Maddie is the first vocal you hear with rather heartfelt lyrics followed by Tae for the harmonies and in the chorus which takes the song to another level of meaning which I personally love. The second verse is where you can really hear the emotion. Friends Don't demonstrates to us listeners how much they have grown professionally over the year and I am grateful for the honesty. Friends Don't to me is one song that's in between friendship and love and whether it's worth the risk. Friends Don't is also one exteremly unique song.

Die From A Broken Heart starts with beautiful and soft instrumental which stays throughout giving the song such a different feel from what we would except giving us an insight into the different sides of Maddie and Tae as artists and how much they have grown throughout the years! The chorus features some rather heartfelt, very meaningful lyrics which I instantly connected with and it blew me away! I also loved how catchy the chorus is. The three verses are very heartfelt and show us a wonderful vulnerability which is just incredible to see. These ladies definitely have a wonderful future ahead of them. The first verse opens Die From A Broken Heart off wonderful and I love how honest Maddie and Tae are straight off. Maddie and Tae's vocal ranges throughout were beyond incredible.

I Don't Need To Know starts with a soft and sweet guitar instrumental something, I love hearing on Maddie and Tae songs. The first verse sees Maddie takes up lead vocals which was the perfect move with her soft vocal range however, the moment Tae came in with her harmonies - WOW, it was on fire! The lyrics are so honest and raw, you can hear how emotive the song is to them. The chorus features some wonderfully emotional raw lyrics which bought a tear to my eye. The storytelling from the ladies is just stunning and the attention to detail is so there! Maddie and Tae's harmonies are just something else. The second verse continues I Don't Need To Know wonderfully with the emotive language within the song writing continues. The bridge of I Don't Need To Know sees Maddie and Tae's softer vocal continue in the most incredible way! However, in the final chorus, I had goosebumps.

New Dogs, Old Tricks has a funky guitar instrumental which starts New Dogs, Old Tricks of in such a wonderfully beautiful way. I love how Maddie and Tae are singing the lyrics within the first verse in what is very different to their normal style but I happen to love it as it grows their growth as artists. Also, you find yourself listening more to the lyrics within all the three verses more. The chorus New Dogs, Old Tricks is super catchy and the lyrics are super honest. New Dogs, Old Tricks is the perfect song for Maddie and Tae to end their new latest album with.
