*OPINION PIECE* WHY TONIGHT'S EPISODE WAS A TURNING POINT FOR AARON AND ROBERT'S RELATIONSHIP

I wasn't sure that I was even going to write this blog let alone share it, but how could I not when it was a big episode for Aaron Dingle and Robert Sugden known as Robron to their loyal fans.

From the very moment Kev Townsend was revealed as Robert Sugden's husband there has been trouble, however tonight's episode (Thursday 27th November) was brilliant viewing as Kev set out for revenge, but sneaking into Aaron Dingle's flat was when the drama began having discovered Robert was there much to his shock.

You have to love the fact that Aaron is determined to tell Kev about them saying “If nothing's gonna happen with the police or Kev, we need to just tell him we're back together!” displaying that they're ready to be out in the open regarding their relationship instead of sneaking around worrying about Kev.

The reassurance that Robert and Aaron gave to one another throughout the episode was great showing a lot of character development despite Kev playing with Robert's emotions even looking at Aaron saying “He still chooses you”, but we all know Aaron has Robert's back and Robert has Aaron's back especially this time around within their relationship as they have waited over 6 years to be reunited.

The vulnerability from Robert has been fantastic to see as since he returned to the village, it's obvious how much prison changed him, whilst remaining honest that Kev saved him in prison. Robert will always protect the ones he loves especially when it comes to his one true love with Robert injuring himself to protect Aaron showing that love wins over everything, followed by some beautiful dialogue “You stepped in front of him, why would you do that?” With Robert saying to Kev “The same reason you did it for me!” showing exactly how much Robert would do anything for Aaron.

Who doesn't love a strong, protective, defensive and resilient Aaron when it comes to Robert even if he does end up hurting himself during the process despite being scared after saying “I'm the one who stole him from ya.” However, Robert telling Kev “But it was always gonna be Aaron!” it was safe to say this was my favourite line of the episode, and of course Robert would as he has already chosen Aaron since 4th December, 2014 mixed with Aaron's little smile in that moment spoke volumes as viewers could see how secure he was within his relationship to Kev's departing line being “Just remember, I always get revenge!”

The look of relief from Aaron and Robert as Kev left said a lot looking at each other making sure they were OK without any words being said. The facial expressions from Danny and Ryan were brilliant throughout adding another layer to the characters.

Danny Miller and Ryan Hawley - Thank you so much for being two brilliant actors and for working so well together giving us viewers exactly what we want with Robron, but the biggest thank you has to go to Ryan for agreeing to come back! Chris Coghill, you are a brilliant actor and it can't have been easy for you to be a part of this storyline with a fan-favourite couple at the forefront who already have a dedicated fanbase.

This episode of Emmerdale aired Thursday 27th November at 8pm on ITV1 as well as airing on ITVX and YouTube from 7am.
