SINGLE REVIEW - BACKWOODS CREEK - BETTER DAYS

Image
This Friday (14th August) will see UK Country Rockers, Backwoods Creek release their brand new single, Better Days.
Backwoods Creek are made up of 5 males - Jamie, Dean, Yannick, George, and Kamil.

Better Days has an electric guitar instrumental to start which opened the song wonderfully before many other instruments come in bringing the song together fantastically. Love an instrumental starting a song off. I love how always you can hear how hard hitting the single is.
The first verse sees Jamie on the vocals like the majority of their songs in his crisp vocals that allows the lyrics to shine through, and allow the listeners to get a real feel for the meaning of the song which I have to say is nothing short of fabulous. The chorus of Better Days  features some incredibly catchy lyrics that sum up the song beautifully especially as what everyone has recently being going through, it's great to hear a song about things as they get a little better. The story within the lyrics of this par…

HOLLYOAKS AT 25 REVISITED THE LISA HUNTER STORYLINE

Hollyoaks Favourites which started last week on E4 in space of Hollyoaks being off air back until September but with Hollyoaks turning 25 in October it's been wonderful to look back on many of it's incredible episodes!

Last week's episodes saw it's wonderful Water Tank stunt from 1999 with Tony Hutchinson, Lucy Benson, Ruth Osborne, and Lewis Richardson as they tried to escape, what wonderful episodes they were. These scenes were fabulous to see as all of there stunts from 21 years.

Thank you Hollyoaks for revisiting the DON'T FILTER FEELINGS campaign
In this week's episodes from 2002 saw Gemma Atkinson return to ours screens as Lisa Hunter's S.H. Storyline was revisited with such harrowing scenes but ones that raised so much awareness of the issue (even before Social Media Hollyoaks were fantastic at raising so much awareness on taboo subjects).

In the first episode of the week for this storyline, Hollyoaks viewers saw Prom Night arrive for Lisa Hunter which s…

SINGLE REVIEW - HARLEYMOON KEMP - SPACE

Image
Back on 1st July, U.K. Singer/ Songwriter, Harleymoon Kemp released her debut single, Space.

Space starts with a guitar instrumental which supports Harleymoon's vocals so beautifully well. The first verse sees Harleymoon's romantic, soft infectious vocal tone at the forefront of Space  which I have to say demonstrates so well so she is as an artist. The lyrics are beautifully written, and maybe not intentional released when they are so relatable but I am so glad the release went ahead as the song is helping so people feel like they are not alone. The chorus of Space  has some perfectly beautiful lyrics that are so catchy, and will have people singing along and dancing like it did for me. The vocal tone from Harleymoon is insane, and so uniquely rare. The second verse continues Space  as its the next part of the journey which is also filled with a lot of emotion that is so powerful if you listen to the lyrics closely following into the chorus in the most perfect tone. The guitar i…

Cassadee's Stages album is made up of 8 songs all are written by Cassadee and co-writers.

'Rise and Shine is one EP everyone needs.'

Let Me Go starts with a guitar instrumental which instantly gives you a real feel for the song, and exactly what this album is going to be about. The first verse sees Cassadee lying her heart right down with some of the most stunning lyrics, I have ever heard from Cassadee WOW! The songwriting, and the meaning of the lyrics is just stunning. You can really hear how much Cassadee has grown as an artist on this album. The chorus follows from the verses with the moment beautiful chorus lyrics that a lot of us listeners will be able to relate too! The lyrics are also so very true, and honest as you can hear from Cassadee's vocal. The second verse continues Let Me Go  wonderfully as Cassadee's vocal range gets a little s…

SINGLE REVIEW - MORGAN JOHNSTON - IF HE NEVER BROKE MY HEART

Image
This Friday (7th August) will see U.S. Singer/ Songwriter, Morgan Johnston release her brand new single, If He Never Broke My Heart.
Morgan is a Nashville based artist who is originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

If He Never Broke My Heart starts with a gorgeous guitar instrumental which compliments Morgan's vocal so well.
The first verse of If He Never Broke My Heart  sees Morgan's soft vocal range at the start of the song with her meaningful vocals that you can hear are based so much on a personal experience that she has gone through making me very emotional.
The chorus features some wonderfully honest lyrics that a lot of people will be able to relate with as majority of people would have been through something like this at one time in their lives, and I love how Morgan has written this song from a place of hurt but being brave enough to release the single is something else. The thing I adore most about this song is that Morgan knows exactly when to change her vocal range t…

SINGLE REVIEW - BAILEY TOMKINSON - SILENT SUFFERING

Image
This Friday (7th August) will see UK Singer/ Songwriter, Bailey Tomkinson release her brand new single, Silent Suffering.

Silent Suffering  was written just before lockdown about putting on a brave face, which is quiet poignant as lockdown hit as the lyrics will be able to resonate with a lot of listeners.

Silent Sufferingsees an upbeat drumming instrumental which sets the tone of this song up brilliantly alongside a guitar instrumental too. The first verse sees Bailey's softer vocal range being demonstrated allowing the heartfelt lyrics there moment to shine, and the amazing songwriting shine through. There is something so magical about Bailey's vocal range that gets me thinking, and at times relating to the lyrics in which she is singing. The chorus of Silent Suffering  features some incredibly beautiful, and heartfelt lyrics which I caught myself being a little emotional over as you can see so much emotion within Bailey's vocal range from the lyrics she is singing - my go…

SINGLE REVIEW - DEMI MARRINER - BECAUSE OF HER

Image
This Friday (31st July) will see U.K. Singer/ Songwriter, Demi Marriner release her brand new single, Because Of  Her.

Because Of Her starts with a sweet guitar instrumental which I have to admit works beautifully with the tone of the song.
The first verse sees Demi's soft vocal tone shine through with the incredible personal lyrics which I caught myself relating too a lot at times. I love the incredibly written lyrics throughout this song part of the song, and you can hear that Demi has felt these feelings at one point in her life.
The chorus features some incredibly beautiful lyrics that are so beautiful, and I love the backing vocal tones as they allow Demi to show off her many vocal ranges. The second verse continues with Demi continuing with her soft vocal tone which had me feeling a little emotional thanks to the attention to detail within the lyrics. I also like how Demi isn't afraid to put her heart out on the line, and everything about this song is perfect. Throughout

DEBUT SINGLE REVIEW - HALLE KEARNS - PICK ME UP

Image
This Friday (31st July) will see U.S. Country-Pop Singer/ Songwriter, Halle Kearns release her DEBUT single, Pick Me Up.

You can read my interview with Halle here.

Pick Me Up starts with a guitar instrumental which I have to admit after hearing only a couple of seconds - my god I am in love with this song already! In a way that I am freaking out already! There is a proper country feel to Pick Me Up  that I am VERY EXCITED about people hearing.
The first verse sees Halle's upbeat vocal range being demonstrated in the most beautiful, and unique way that I have nothing but praise for Halle on. The lyrics are just beautiful allowing Halle many opportunities to show off many of her stunning vocal ranges.
The chorus of Pick Me Up  features some incredibly, beautiful, and fun lyrics that I have to admit had me singing along right from the very start leaving me feeling very overwhelmed with the fact that this is only Halle's debut single. The upbeat instrumental for the song is somethi…

SINGLE REVIEW - JEANNINE BARRY - HOME

Image
Earlier today, Country Singer/ Songwriter, Jeannine Barry emailed out to her fans subscribed to her mailing list an unreleased song called Home  which she wrote during lockdown, and features backing vocals from her sister, and I love the song so much I had to review it.

Home  is set to be released on Friday 7th August.

Photo By Me Taken During Loud In London in January
Home starts with a beautifully soft guitar instrumental which gives me an instantly homely feeling which had me excited to hear the lyrics to the song.
The first verse of Home  sees Jeannine's softer vocal at the forefront of the song which gives this wonderfully rich, country tone which I adore. The lyrics are rather homely, and extremely heartfelt which suits the song so well. There is something so incredibly beautiful about each and every single lyrics within this song.
The chorus of Home  features incredibly heartfelt lyrics that you can tell mean so much to Jeannine especially during the Covid outbreak, and everyo…

Image
This Friday (31st July) will see U.S. Country-Pop Singer/ Songwriter, Lizzie Cates release her brand new single, I Like The Way.

You can read my interview with Lizzie about I Like The Way here.

I Like The Way starts with an beautifully soft guitar instrumental which opens the song up wonderfully. The first verse sees Lizzie showcase her beautiful softer vocal range right from the start which allows listeners to get a real feel for who Lizzie is as an artist, and for the singing so the insight we get from the lyrics you can definitely hear that this song was written from the heart. I love how much Lizzie is having with this song, and how Lizzie is demonstrated to show a fun side to who she is as an artist.
The chorus features some incredibly wonderful, and fun lyrics that made me want to get up and dance too. I Like The Way  is one very sassy, and upbeat fun love song that I think a lot of people are going to love really be able to relate too in one way or another.
The second verse conti…

EP REVIEW - LAURA EVANS - RUNNING BACK TO YOU

Image
Next Friday (31st July) will see Welsh Singer/ Songwriter, Laura Evans release her brand new EP, Running Back To You. Running Back To You  features 5 songs.

Drag Me Back In starts straight in with the first verse with a little instrumental which compliments Laura's vocal one wonderfully. The first verse sees Laura's upbeat vocals being demonstrated with a rocker side from the vocals being given which I have to admit, I like a lot - as it shows us all another side of Laura. The lyrics are ones of fun, and whilst being super catchy. The chorus of Drag Me Back In  features some wonderfully rocky but heartfelt vocals as you get a real feel for the song, and it's meaning which I have to admit I find very different, but one I am very much looking forward to hearing live once we can get back to live music. I love hearing sassy Laura! The second verse continues Drag Me Back In  fantastically as Laura's vocal range changes, and it adds another fabulous layer to the song. There i…

WHY THIS WEEK'S 4 EPISODES OF HOLLYOAKS FAVOURITES HAVE BEEN AMAZING VIEWING

This week on E4 at 7pm Hollyoaks Favourites showed Hannah Ashworth's anorexia storyline from September 2007 (if I remember rightly?)

This storyline for me is one that I remember watching as a early teenager, and being so overwhelmed but watching it back this week left me feeling even more emotional - this is one week of episodes I am glad was chosen to be reshown as it displayed to everyone watching why Emma Rigby is an incredible actress, you can definitely see why this storyline won Emma the Best Actress Award in 2008 at The British Soap Awards.
One thing that still gets me about this storyline was Rhys cold-hearted, and insensitive support to his little sister through her struggle - I get that he cares for her but this was one step too far for me. However, looking back it is obvious to see how influenced Hannah was from her friend, Melissa that she met in hospital which is just devastating to see. I also wished Hannah had realised her problems before she was forced into getting hel…
