INTERVIEW WITH CATHERINE TYLDESLEY AS SHE TALKS ABOUT CHRISTMAS FOR EVA PRICE
Since Catherine Tyldesley returned to our screens on Monday 27th October, 2025 as Eva Price, it's been clear that the Driscolls are holding a secret.
When aske about how she felt about her character and the Driscolls taking centre stage at Christmas, Catherine Tyldesley shared “Thrilled, I love the soaps at Christmas. You've got to tune in on Christmas Day, haven't you?” Before continuing “You know that it’s going to be pretty explosive. And so, I was just absolutely chuffed to bits that they wanted to run that storyline for Christmas Day, and we had a lot of fun doing the storyline. I'm obsessed with Christmas, so it was nice to start Christmas super early. And I've got to say as well, Aaron and Pauline are just absolutely outstanding in their performances on Christmas Day. They really are. So it was a real treat.”
Talking about the tension being Eva and Maggie, how would you describe it? Catherine explained “It's boiling point on Christmas Day. Eva and Maggie have always had that sort of relationship where they are going to hurl insults at each other, but most of the time they laugh it off.” adding “Maggie's just constantly is hurling things at Eva, and she hurls something really big at Eva on Christmas Day, and everything just kind of explodes. So, it was great fun to play.”
Eva's hiding something from Ben, but does she feel hiding it? “Other than this particular thing, she doesn't hide anything from Ben. She's always been super honest, but this was the one thing that she's found really difficult, and in a way, she has absolutely done it to protect Ben to protect him from feeling hurt.”
So, Catherine how does Eva react to the attack on Christmas Day? “It's a big shock. Christmas is supposed to be that time where seemingly everyone is supposed to get on, you hang out with friends and family, and everything's supposed to be lovely, but it's not like that in Weatherfield on Christmas Day! So, yeah, it's a big shock…there are two attacks connected to the Driscoll family, it isn't exactly how any of them envisaged their first Christmas in the Rovers.”

When asked what Christmas means to her, Catherine said “I absolutely love Christmas! As soon as Halloween is over I am getting the Christmas decorations out. This year I didn't even have to wait til he was away at work he just said ‘oh go on then, I know you want the tree up now.’ He is an incredible cook and he does all the cooking at Christmas.”
Will your Christmas have anything in common with Eva’s? “I do have something in common with Eva in that we both want family around us at Christmas, we are both very family orientated and see Christmas as a time for everyone to come together. But Eva is far more glam than me on Christmas Day, Before adding “I prefer to slob around in my comfies and relax whereas she is very much ‘Christmas ready’ with her clothes, hair and make-up. But all she wants is for everyone to have a fabulous time, I feel quite sad that it doesn't turn out the way she wanted.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday's at 8pm on ITV with episodes available from 7am on ITVX, but over Christmas please check your listings.
