INTERVIEW WITH RYAN MULVEY AS HE OPENS UP ABOUT HOW BRODY IS FEELING...
Since Brody Michaelis arrived on the Cobbles earlier this year, Coronation Street viewers have seen what a complexed character actor Ryan Mulvey is playing.
With Brody having recently learnt that PC Kit Green is his father, does he want a relationship with him, or does he wish this had never happened and Kit would go away, Ryan Mulvey who plays Brody commented “Brody's scared. I think his first thought is that Kit is rejecting him and he doesn't want to be there.” Before adding “He's scared to have another dad in his life because what if he rejects him as well?”
With Brody's bad behaviour, Coronation Street viewers have also seen a lot of vulnerability too, are you enjoying seeing that coming through? “Yeah, definitely. It's nice because obviously he's coming at things with this hard exterior and messing everything up, but it's really lovely to play this softer side and see his true feelings come out. At the end of the day he's a teenager, he's scared and he doesn't really know what's going on, even though he likes to pretend he does. He's scared and he doesn't really know how he's going to figure everything out and how he's going to look after his sisters. He's just quite overwhelmed.”
When Ryan was asked about whether Brody would like to have a relationship with Kit going forward, the actor shared “It's quite an interesting dynamic with a policeman and the bad lad we’ve seen so far. It's a great dynamic, his dad being a policeman and Brody the way he is, always getting into trouble. I love working with Jacob. It's great because there's so many dramatic scenes that we can play of finding out he's his dad and all the drama and emotion around that.” Before continuing “There's probably a lot of resentment there for him as well. But there's also just the average dad and lad scenes that would be exciting to do, say, like involving girls, throwing a house party, there's just so many different routes we could do with the dad and son which is really exciting to come.”

When asked about whether he loves seeing all the different sides of Brody, Ryan added “He's got so many different sides to him and that's what makes him so interesting and exciting. Yes he's angry and he likes a fight but also he loves his sisters, he wants friends, he wants a girlfriend, he wants to have a dad who looks after him and he wants to feel safe. I think because of what he’s been through he struggles to trust people but it would be nice to see him push that boundary and see if he can trust anyone around him again.”
When asked about how he is enjoying Corrie after having been on the show for 7 months, Ryan shared “It's really good, it's a madhouse but a great house. Everyone's lovely, I know everyone says it, but it is like a family, you've got your crazy cousins, those you look up to. Everyone's creative and it's just a wonderful place to be.”
Coronation Street usually airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday's at 8pm on ITV with episodes available from 7am on ITVX.
