EP REVIEW - TAYLOR-RAE - HEAVEN RIGHT NOW

Today (Friday 18th July), Canadian singer-songwriter, Taylor-Rae has released her latest EP, Heaven Right Now which is made up of 4 tracks.

Heaven Right Now begins with a guitar instrumental mixed with Taylor-Rae's emotional tones and songwriting filled with honesty that is clearly written from the heart. The emotional lyrics got me thinking about my Grandma who sadly passed away a few years back and with her anniversary over the weekend, I am so pleased that it got me thinking about my memories with her. The chorus for me is the most stunning part of the song, however, as Heave Right Now continues Taylor-Rae reminds you that it is OK to cry on those emotional days. The second verse demonstrates a lot of vulnerable and one that makes you appreciate your life. Heaven Right Now is my new favourite song.

Bittersweet takes Taylor -Rae's EP to another level as part of her wonderful journey. The chorus is super catchy and one that sees the happier side of who Taylor-Rae is as an artist which is great to hear. The journey that Bittersweet takes us on as a listener sees another brilliant side to her songwriting mixed with her use of tones both soft and crisp. Once again, the chorus is the powerful part of the song.

Drunk Plans demonstrates Taylor-Rae's wonderful softer tones and heartfelt lyrics that got me a little emotional with some powerful songwriting. The chorus is stunning and sounds like it was written from the heart with a lot of past experiences involving vulnerability. There is something so cleverly done with Drunk Plans that is a wonderfully brilliant move. However, it was the wonderful instrumental in the middle of the song that had an interesting empowerment to it that I didn't expect leading to brilliantly delivered bridge/ final verse.

Sendin' Myself to Church has a very special feel from the start with some of her believes at the forefront. Sendin' Myself to Church is a very Taylor-Rae, whilst remaining true to herself and written within her music wonderfully. One thing I enjoyed is the beautiful layered vocals is great. The verses are very clever and follows fantastically showing another side of who she is as an artist. Sendin' Myself to Church is a beautiful song to end this rather special EP with.
