EP REVIEW - SYKAMORE - THROUGH THE STATIC

Today (Friday 29th March) will see Canadian country singer-songwriter, Sykamore release her brand new EP called Through The Static which is made up of 4 songs.

Emotional begins with Sykamore's soft vocal at the forefront of the song showcasing her brilliant story telling with her mix of vocal tones. The chorus is filled with many heartfelt lyrics that I caught myself listening rather closely too as you can hear this fairytale of love happening and its really wonderful to hear as you can hear two different sides. I love the upbeat lyrics within the final verse as well as the uptempo of the final chorus as it allows for the listeners to hear another side of who Sykamore is within this new EP.

Highway Towns begins with a soft instrumental complimenting Sykamore's crisp vocal tone allowing for the storytelling to come through straight away with a wonderful emotional feel that I caught myself listening to rather closely especially as the chorus kicked in. The chorus is great and you can really hear Sykamore's personal connection making it rather special. The further two verses move the song on in a wonderful way that I have a feeling many people will really enjoy listening too.

More Where That Came From starts with a upbeat instrumental breaking the EP up wonderfully allowing for listeners to see a different side of who she is as an artist. The first verse sees Sykamore's once again her crisp tone at the forefront giving the opportunity for her to showcase her vulnerable side as the lyrics seem personal. The chorus features many heartfelt lyrics about that one person, you thought would be there for you and you sadly realise that they aren't and it's sad, however, you find a way to be happy again. The second verse brilliantly connects to the songs message and I loved it! You have to love the upbeat chorus to end More Where That Came From.

Perfect Storm begins with Sykamore's soft tone complimenting the lyrics in a great as the songwriting is given it's opportunity to shine. The lyrics allow you to paint your own picture of what has happened/ is happening throughout a certain relationship. The emotional connection from Sykamore within is beautifully delivered. The chorus features many heartfelt lyrics that give Sykamore the opportunity to show her vulnerable side to her fans. The softer crisp tone in the second verse was beautifully timed.
Thank you, Sykamore for writing a brilliant song.
