DEBUT ALBUM REVIEW - MORGAN WADE - RECKLESS

This Friday (19th March) will see U.S. singer-songwriter, Morgan Wade who is Virginia based release her debut album, Reckless.
Reckless is made up of 10 songs. Reckless is released via Thirty Tigers.

Wilder Days has a guitar instrumental which the sets the tone of this song, and debut album from Morgan wonderfully. The first verse sees Morgan's rockier vocal at the forefront of Wilder Days which sets the tone of the song wonderfully allowing the listeners to get a real feel for who Morgan is as an artist. The lyrics are off a softer tone that gives the song so many amazing moments. The chorus of Wilder Days features many of the songs standout lyrics, and it always catches me thinking about my childhood and all those moments you did those things with your friends when you were young, and careless which is something that makes me appreciate the lyrics a little more. The second verse of Wilder Days continues as the moment of the relationship changes, and those moments that you can't quiet explain about who you were before you met that special person in your younger days, and how things have things have changed as you grow up. The final verse of Wilder Days sees Morgan's softer vocal range return ahead of the final chorus of the song which brings the song together beautifully.

Matches and Metaphors has a guitar instrumental that sets the tone for the song wonderfully. The first verse sees Morgan's soft vocal at the forefront which allows the meaning of Matches and Metaphors to come through right from the start allowing the songwriting an opportunity to shine. There is something so unique about Morgan's vocal range that has gets me excited. The chorus has many super catchy lyrics that make me want to sing along as they are relatable, and shows a wonderful growth in who Morgan is as an artist. The second verse continues Matches and Metaphors wonderfully complimented by the instrumental allowing the lyrics many stand out moments thanks to Morgan's vocal tone. The lyrics are one which just fall off your tongue. The final verse of Matches and Metaphors is in a softer vocal tone which ends the song alongside the chorus in the most beautiful way. However, the chorus throughout Matches and Metaphors brings the song together in a super natural way.

Other Side starts with a incredibly sweet, and soft guitar instrumental ending the song up in this wonderful way which gives off this rather special moment. The first verse sees Morgan's sweetly soft vocal at the forefront giving off this incredibly sentimental feel to Other Side that you can hear many emotional lyrics thanks to Morgan's real life experience placed into this song. The chorus blends into Other Side in the most magical way thanks to the honest lyrics which you can hear are based on personal experience. The way that the chorus brings every verse together is just stunning. The second verse of Other Side continues with much growth thanks to Morgan's vocal ability, and the fact that she isn't afraid to wear her heart of her sleeve is something, I have nothing but praise for! Ahead of the final chorus Other Side has a beautiful instrumental which allows the song a personal stand out moment, that ends the song beautifully thanks to the chorus bringing the song together perfectly. Other Side is my favourite song of Morgan's debut album.

Don't Cry has an electric guitar instrumental which sets the tone of the song beautifully as Morgan comes in with her softer vocal range. The first verse sees Morgan's soft vocal at the forefront of Don't Cry which sees her display this vulnerability about her that made for emotional listening as you could hear a lot of meaning within the lyrics that made the song rather special reminded me of Oasis at times which had me listening extremely closely to the lyrics. The chorus has some incredibly emotive lyrics that catch you being able to relate to certain lyrics within our own lives, and experiences that makes the song ever so unique. The second verse of Don't Cry continues with Morgan softer vocals still very much emotive, and the purity within the lyrics is just stunning. The final verse of Don't Cry sees a much softer vocal tone from Morgan which allows Morgan to show another side of who she is as an artist, ahead of the final chorus which ends the song fantastically.

Mend starts with a guitar instrumental which goes into the first verse of the song beautifully. The first verse sees Morgan's sweet vocal tone at the forefront with her vulnerability shining through thanks to her rocker side of the lyrics. The lyrics throughout Mend see a lot of vulnerability, and self worth being demonstrated. The chorus features some of wonderfully thought about lyrics that see this wonderful side of who Morgan is as an artist being allowed to shine through being the perfect part of the song blending the verses together fantastically. The second verse of Mend continues with this incredible emotive language that allows you the opportunity to reflect on your own lives, and the moments that matter where we have all had to make a 'mend' in our own lives with family, and friends. The final verse of Mend sees Morgan's softer vocal allowed it's moment to shine ahead of the final chorus which ends the song in the most beautiful way.

Last Cigarette has a rather uplifting feel to the song as it starts with Morgan's higher vocal range being demonstrated which is complimented by a soft guitar instrumental. The first verse sees Morgan's softer vocal at the forefront which allows the listeners to hear another side of Morgan's lyrics which demonstrates her confidence as an artist, and well as a person. The chorus features many catchy lyrics that had me singing along, and I love the meaning behind the song as it allows you to create your own with the real sense of everything Morgan is singing being based on a true story. The second verse of Last Cigarette continues wonderfully as the lyrics allow the song to grow in a way that is magical, and sees another side of Morgan as an artist that couldn't help but adore. The chorus blends perfectly into every single verse. The final verse sees Morgan's soft vocal, alongside her vulnerability being shown as it sees the song end in the most stunning way.

Take Me Away has a very country feel with the guitar instrumental which sets the tone of the song up wonderfully. The first verse sees Morgan's crispy vocal range at the forefront which sets this heartwarming vocal. The lyrics are ones that see Morgan wear her heart on her sleeve allowing her vulnerability to shine through thanks to the song-writing. The chorus sees Morgan's crisp vocal showcasing another side of her crisp vocal that sees the lyrics feature many stand out moments as they have this sense of relatability which I happen to adore. The second and final verse continue the song growth fantastically with the meaning of Take Me Away bring demonstrated wonderfully - the way that the chorus blends perfectly to every single verse makes for wonderfully listening.

Reckless sees Morgan's middle toned vocal open up this track with an electric guitar instrumental. The first verse sees Morgan portraying this vulnerability, and recklessness behaviour in the song which is just perfect for the nature of the song. I caught myself being able to see so much of myself within the lyrics that made for really special listening. The chorus features many wonderfully catchy lyrics that I caught myself wanting to sing along too despite not 100% knowing the lyrics - there is something so magical about the songs lyrics. The second verse of Reckless continues with this sense of being told what to do, and when which for me was something that made for hard listening as you could hear this sense of rawness that I really appreciated as a listener because its very rare artists do this! Ahead of the final verse the electric guitar instrumental was perfectly timed. The bridge of Reckless sees the songs most poignant lyric being repeated in a much softer vocal tone. Reckless ending with the chorus was just sensationally placed, and toned by Morgan.

Northern Air has a rather upbeat guitar instrumental which I have to say breaks Morgan's debut album up amazingly. I love the super country feel you get as the song starts that I have a feeling many people will too. The first verse sees Morgan's huskier, and darker sounding vocals opening up Northern Air which I have to say I wasn't expecting but it works well. The chorus blends wonderfully into very single verse allowing the listeners to have this wonderful understanding of the song, and it's meaning which blends into whole song wonderfully. The instrumental break up in the middle of the song was wonderfully timed. There is not one set vocal from Morgan within this song which makes it even more special in my opinion.

Met You sees Morgan's soft vocal complimented with a slow, and soft guitar instrumental. The first verse starts the song off with her crisp vocal tone setting the tone of Met You in a rather special way as it sees her songwriting being allowed to come to life, and even more so through the verses as the song continues. The chorus features some of the most breathtaking lyrics in my opinion as it sees this wonderful soulful side of Morgan's vocals about how her life has changed linking to the verses of the song in the most beautiful way. Met You is one incredibly gorgeous song that summarises this debut album from Morgan perfectly.
