Morning, Emma & Jolie. Thank you so much for agreeing to this interview with me.
How are you feeling about the release of  your debut single, I Don't Need A Man today?
We are so excited! We wrote this song in November and the day that we wrote it we were on such a high. We knew that it was going to be our first single and we just couldn’t wait for everyone to hear it. So now that it’s finally come around, we are so excited for everyone to hear it. We feel really proud of this song & we are really happy that this is going to be our first single.
This response just melts my heart. I am too excited for the single to be out there.

Emma & Jolie, could I please ask you tell us a little more about your debut single, I Don't Need A Man?
The song is a female power anthem. It’s all about loving yourself, and acknowledging that you really don’t need a man to make you happy. Men do not define our worth. We often grow up with the idea that we need a man to complete us, have kids, get married etc, and really that’s not the case. You don’t need a man to complete you or to fulfil your life and we think it’s so important to spread that message.
A female power anthem it is for sure. This song has come at a perfect time in my life so I am personally extremely grateful for this song.

You co-wrote,  I Don't Need A Man with Emily Hackett, how did this come about? When it when you were in Nashville?
We went to Nashville in November last year. It was the most amazing & productive trip. One of the last writing sessions we had was with Emily. Emily has always been a massive inspiration to us since we met her. She is one of the best songwriters we have ever had the pleasure of working with & we are so thankful that she wrote this song with us. We have actually wrote with Emily a few times now, and every time we have a writing session booked in with her, we are so excited because we know it’s going to be a great song!

Was there a certain situation which inspired the writing of I Don't Need A Man?
We have both been in relationships that have made us guess our self worth. We’ve had men tell us we aren’t good enough, that we won’t be successful, that we aren’t pretty enough, and that didn’t treat us the way we deserve to be treated. Jolie had not long come out of a relationship when we wrote this song which led us discussing how you can be happy & do all the things you would do in a relationship on your own. As we’ve both grown as women we have realised that a mans opinion of us, does not define us, and that it really doesn’t matter what these men have to say about us, because as long as we love ourselves, who cares what they think. As women we are capable of doing things that men may typically do for us such as carrying your bags, building your bed, opening the door.
I love how you girls aren't afraid to write about past experiences, and write them in such a truthful way.

Which leads on very nicely will my next questions for you, I am very intrigued to know but how look did it take you to write I Don't Need A Man?
It actually only took us an hour to write this song! We went into the write with the song title & idea ready to share with Emily, and she picked up the vibe we wanted straight away and it just flowed very quickly. We had so much fun writing the song & we left the write feeling like we had a song that was exactly what we wanted.

Did you always plan to release I Don't Need A Man as your debut single from the very first moment you wrote the song?
100%. The second we finished the write we sent a voice note to our managers being like “scrap everything else this is the single!” And once we had sent it over to them they were just as excited as we were and knew that this was going to be our first single!
Stories like this melt my heart as they show so much about who you are as an artist, and your response is perfect!

Then, I have to ask you how was the recording for I Don't Need A Man?
It was so fun! It was the first time we had ever professionally recorded something together, and we had the pleasure of working with the incredibly talented Johnny Douglas. He made us feel so at ease as we were quite nervous, but he really helped us come out of our shell & as the day went on we just had so much fun and we just knew that it was going to sound amazing.

How would you sum up your single, I Don't Need A Man in just 3 words for anyone wanting to check it out?
Powerful, Anthemic, and Invigorating.
Thank you so much for your time, Emma & Jolie. I am very grateful!
