ALBUM REVIEW - CATHERINE MCGRATH - TALK OF THIS TOWN

Catherine McGrath's debut album, Talk of This Town will be released this Friday (27th July).
Talk of This Town is made up of 13 songs.

"This album is a masterpiece and show us what an incredible artist Catherine is!"

Talk of This Town is a brilliant opening song for Catherine's debut album.
Catherine's vocals are stunning with a guitar solo before Catherine's vocals kick in. The first verse is very open and you can tell Catherine is talking about her own journey and this takes guts and I adore artists who did this. The chorus is simply stunning with beautiful lyrics which are very inspiring and brought tears to my eyes because it's relatable - no matter how old you are you are able to achieve your dreams. The second and third verse are talking about the struggles and the 'I told you so's' but you can hear that Catherine's never gave up whatever it took she was determined. Talk of This Town is telling you to take that leap of faith! Talk of This Town is an inspiring song - live your dreams and get out of your hometown if you need too!
Talk of This Town is such an inspiring song to be a one that has helped to encourage me with chasing my dreams and I'll always be thankful to Catherine for this!

The Edges has a little softer backing instrumental which gives of a country feel that works so magically well for Catherine's vocals which are much softer which fits the incredibly beautiful lyrics. The chorus is so beautiful and gives you the sense of being in a happy relationship and having the other person with you to help you understand and sometimes that's all you need! You can't help but sing along with this song. Catherine's vocal range is demonstrated well and allows her to show off her most softer tone throughout.

Lost In The Middle is my favourite song of this album for many incredible reasons from the tempo, the lyrics, the gorgeous vocals from Catherine and the chorus well what can I say - it's INCREDIBLE! Perfect Summer anthem.
Lost In The Middle is a song that gives you happy vibes straight off with the first verse being very catchy... Road trip song for sure! The chorus is just incredible and sensational because it's everything a 'country' song should be in my option! I am super excited to hear this song live at the festivals will be wonderful. The lyrics are very thought about and this makes the song magical.

Wild is a wonderful song with great simple instrumentals to start which I love. The first verse has a softer vocal from Catherine which works wonderfully with the meaningful lyrics about wanting to be in a relationship but one of you is not quite ready. The chorus is upbeat that I couldn't help but dance along its a feel good track, I rather enjoyed the fact that Catherine managed a gig you could see her going too! The second verse is very open about a relationship where the other person is meaning their ex which isn't something you want but it happens - thanks for the honesty with seeing both sides.
Wild is a proper sing along track. Imagine getting the chance to hear this song live - would be incredible!

I Thought It Was Gonna Be Me has a simply backing track throughout. I Thought It Was Gonna Be Me is a country ballad with rather heart felt lyrics. The first verse is rather sensitive and about that time when you are getting ready for the first date and deciding about making the effort or not. The chorus is stunning with lyrics that almost had me in tears (I can't lie). Let's be honest who of us haven't been in that situation that Catherine is singing about?! The second verse is about that time in your relationship that you think it's gonna work but you aren't so sure by you go for it anyway (sometimes are worthy chancing, right?)
But we all know Catherine is singing about that one time she met someone and realises he's in a relationship but sometimes things like that happen and make wonderful songs like this! This song is just stunning and my second favourite of the album for sure!

Don't Let Me Forget with Hunter Hayes is a slower sounding song which works so wonderfully on the album. Catherine's solo vocals on verses is wonderful and the meaningful lyrics from Catherine just goes to show us what an incredible artist Catherine has turned into over the years! I love the fact that Hunter only joining her for the chorus are great because Catherine and Hunter's vocal work so well together and their harmonies are wonderful. Catherine's softer sounding vocals throughout Don't Let Me Forget are simply stunning!

Enough For You has a slower instrumental throughout but this allows Catherine's softer vocals and meaningful lyrics to shine through. The chorus is one that gets you thinking everytime you hear it and you can't help but find a part of it that you can relate too. I love that Catherine isn't afraid write sad songs based on her own personal experience. The bridge features some of the most hard hitting lyrics and I couldn't help but feel a little emotional. I am very excited for the day I get to hear this song live because I can imagine it would be incredible.

Dodged A Bullet is another favourite song of mine on this album because of Catherine's slow but emotional lyrics which shine thanks to Catherine's emotional but rather stunning vocals. The first verse sets the tone for Dodged A Bullet beautifully as does the chorus. Dodged A Bullet get you thinking from the start and song-writers who need this are incredible rare - Catherine definitely is a rare gem of an artist! The second verse features some beautifully honest lyrics that make me tear up (in a good relatable way!) I can't put into words what this song means to me! I real just a raw emotional attachment to Dodged A Bullet.

Good At Love is an upbeat song which breaks the album up wonderfully. Good At Love has some rather wonderful funky vibes being given off throughout which takes the song to another level. Catherine's vocals are beautiful which works so well for the lyrics that Catherine is singing. The verses features some super fun lyrics that you can't help but sing along too! The chorus also features some very catchy lyrics which gives the song such a festival feel which works perfectly for the release as its summer and its definitely perfect for a road trip anthem (it will be for me anyway!) You can't help but sing along from start to finish thanks to the catchy and funky lyrics.

Cinderella has softer sounding instrumental to start before Catherine's vocals start with a softer tone which works incredibly for this side of the album. The first verse is about worrying that you don't fit in with what you are wearing and the situation you are in with a boy you 'like a lot'. The chorus is simply stunning! About the one time you hope you have found 'the one'. The second verse is about the countdown you may do until you see that person again and wanting to look at them with 'the look of love'. The bridge is simply gorgeous and I love that she is singing about hope and never give up on something that you want. I love the story behind this song.

Just In Case is a rather quirky upbeat sounding song and makes you wanna dance right from the start. Just In Case is about thinking you have found 'the one' and you are 'in love' but you are still getting to know each other. The chorus is very catchy and about being in that what feels like the 'lovebird' stage but you are still getting to know your feelings towards each other. The second verse is about that time when you are unaware about how the other person is feeling especially if maybe one of you is ready for the next step but the other is unsure but you do it anyway! The bridge is rather sweet and perfect sounding - I adore Catherine's vocals during this song.

Good Goodbyes is a song which right from the start Catherine's vocals shine with her heartfelt lyrics. The first verse features some rather catchy heart felt lyrics - that most of us can relate too as some point in a relationship. This verse also featured a more softer vocal tone from Catherine which gives the lyrics are chance to shine though. The chorus features some rather funky upbeat lyrics with it's funky vibe, that I found myself singing along too! The second verse is another heartfelt verse about there being no regrets in the relationship and being demonstrated to move on and not letting the other person hold you back. Towards the end of Good Goodbyes you can hear from the lyrics that the less regret you have about the relationship the better.

She'll Never Love You is a brilliant song to end Catherine's debut album with, with Catherine showing off her softer sound. The first verse is bittersweet with very heartfelt lyrics throughout the whole song especially in the chorus - you can't help but get emotional over. The second verse demonstrates Catherine's vulnerable side perfectly. Adore the fact that Catherine wears her heart on her sleeve when it comes to her song-writing.
