EPISODE REVIEW - WHY TONIGHT'S EPISODE WAS GREAT FOR CHARITY

Tonight's episode (26th September) of Emmerdale featured a heart breaking episode with Charity Dingle going to find her father, Obadiah which lead to her discovering some sad news about her mother.

As soon as the episode started with Charity looking for her father's house were she was sat outside with Vanessa in the car and he appeared about her car window leaving Vanessa Woodfield feeling a little startled. But when Obadiah gave Charity some cakes you could see that her childhood memories started to flood back.

A seconds later with Charity and Vanessa soon entering his house, Charity, Obadiah and Vanessa were seen in the kitchen talking about her childhood - Charity notices a family photo which she doesn't remember and Charity gets very vocal about him after her mother. Charity notices that her father is shaking and has no sympathy which is typical Charity. Love the fact that Charity just blurted out the fact that she is a lesbian now and she seemed proud to do so which for Charity shows how comfortable she is with Vanessa.
Obadiah wondering why Charity is there lead her to telling him about the newspaper but he didn't seem to care and with a father like that him, I am surprised she wanted to visit him which then lead to Charity storming out after his harsh words and I can't blame her! Thank God for Vanessa chasing after her.

Moments later, Vanessa and Charity are talking about what Charity how much Charity planned everything she wanted to say and Vanessa stood up to him but saying what a wonderful mother she is - I am glad Charity had Vanessa in that moment. But it lead to Charity asking to Vanessa to leave.

With it just being Obadiah and Charity the chat properly begins where Charity is very open and Charity is wanting to have her father listening to her very word leading to them having a heart-to-heart however when mentions all the happy memories she has of them however when Charity mentions the beach and the wonderful memories she has of that one summer, he begins to open up with so much honesty about his wife (her mother) and the real reason being that they only wanted to look for her mothers 'body' but could there be more to this story? Charity looked to be completely heartbroken but this revelation.

In the second part of the episode, we saw Obadiah telling about her mum's suicide and that she looks so much like her leading her to reveal about her sad childhood - I can't stand how unapologetic he is towards his own daughter! This saddens me.

Sadly moments later, we saw Obadiah run to the alcohol tray in his house and blaming his daughter, Charity for him needing a drink which makes me sad leading to Charity opening up again and wanting to stop her dad from drinking she smashes the bottle - YES, Charity good one.

The moment Charity left the end scene was looking up the sky after a few deep breathes she is seen talking her dad about how much love she has in her life and walks away!
However, upon walking away she looks to the sky again hoping that her mother is looking down on her and tells her that she loves her - my heart was breaking because I have a weird suspicion that her mother could still be alive and maybe saw her leave.

Tonight's episode was like a weight was lifted from Charity's shoulders after all these years and I felt so proud of Charity at the end.

Charity's scenes with her dad are revealed so much tonight and it's episodes like this I love!

The scene of tonight's episode was just incredible and Karin Young deserves a lot of praise for this episode but Emma Atkins and Paul Copley deserve the most because they were just wonderfully wonderful as Charity and Obadiah Dingle along with Michelle Hardwick.

Can someone please give Emma Atkins another award for her sensational acting throughout this storylines recently!!

This episode of Emmerdale aired on Wednesday 26th September on ITV.
