*REVIEW* MAX BRANNING RETURNED TO EASTENDERS AS LAUREN AND PETER GOT MARRIED
Earlier this week in Tuesday 30th September's episode of the Walford based soap saw Lauren Branning and Peter Beale marry which I have to admit the drama it bought was brilliant!
For the loyal EastEnders fans, if you rewind to 4th December, 2014 where Peter proposed to Lauren and 3rd February, 2015 where Lauren asked Peter to marry her after Ian Beale asked Peter to be his best man. Then casting our minds back to 3rd April, 2025 where Lauren proposed to Peter after initially turning him down.
It's no secret that Lauren and Peter have been through an emotional rollercoaster during their relationship, however over the past months, Peter has made Lauren feel like the worst person, but despite this Lauren stood by Peter despite him having struggled to support her when she was worried about their son, Jimmy which in July saw the pair reunite once again following Louie running off with Jimmy's diagnosis finally opening their eyes on their relationship.
During Monday's episode (29th September) viewers to the Walford based soap saw Peter surprise Lauren with a surprise proposal that turned into a wedding following Lauren spending the day with Penny Branning allowing for Jacqueline Jossa and Kitty Castledine to share some fab scenes together. Tuesday's (30th September) saw Lauren have her doubts seeing the character share a heart-to-heart with Stacey Slater featuring some brilliant facial expressions from Jacqueline knowing her character really well, before the camera angles adding in those dramatic moments throughout the episode. The episode ended with the return of Jake Wood return as Max Branning as Lauren threw her bouquet. Lauren will always be a Branning! However, it was during last night's episode (Wednesday 1st October) that Max was harsh to Lauren following a little heart-to-heart as he wants to protect Lauren, but it was obvious Max was there for sisters, Stacey and Zoe Slater and not his daughter. Tonight's episode (Thursday 2nd October) saw Max tell Lauren that she is more like him than she realises. Sadly, I think Max is right in saying this, but Lauren's determination to be different to her father says a lot! Lauren looks out for her family that's the difference.
Also, tonight saw Lacey Turner leave as Stacey Slater - I am surprised she didn't get a special theme tune.
I forgot how much I missed Max on-screen and the relationship between him and Lauren - thank you, Ben Wadey on making the decision to bring him back and to Jake Wood for agreeing.
EastEnders airs Monday - Thursday on BBC1 at 7.30pm and BBCi Player from 6am.
