WHY ISABELLE SMITH WINNING BEST NEWCOMER WAS GREAT

Last Saturday (31st May) saw Isabelle Smith win Best Newcomer at this year's British Soap Awards and she out of the nominations was the one I wanted to win the most despite the final 4 being wonderful newcomers in their soaps.

Isabelle was bought into Hollyoaks in January 2024 and her character Frankie Osborne arrived with her twin, JJ as the children of Darren Osborne and Suzanne Ashworth - what a brilliant casting that was with both Isabelle and Ryan Mulvey.

Since her arrival, Frankie has been through a lot especially within the SSA storyline which also won Best Storyline and rightly so and you only have to look at how much awareness this storyline has raised to the shows audience, and making people sit up and think - that's just from the reaction I've seen on social media. Isabelle Smith has handled all her scenes with such grace and even the hardest ones you can see how much research she did to portray it realistically.

Even after the SSA storyline, Isabelle has remained strong as Frankie showing Hollyoaks viewers what an incredible talent she is, and I for one couldn't be prouder. The Osborne family in my opinion have definitely become stronger since the arrival of Frankie, and it was great to see them get the recognition they deserved. Ashley Taylor-Dawson, Jimmy McKenna, Jessica Fox, Noah, Isabelle and you can forget Ryan Mulvey and Suzanne Hall - thank you for bringing the Best Family award home coming up to the show's 30th year!

Also, having met Isabelle multiple times I can say she is the nicest and sweetest person you can meet. I feel like a broken record saying this and I'll always be there to defend her!

I'll never stop praising Isabelle for her incredible performances.

You can watch The British Soap Awards on ITV1 on Thursday 5th June at 8pm.
