INTERVIEW WITH JEORGIA ROSE AS SHE RELEASES HER DELUXE VERSION OF BLOOMING (WHERE SHE'S PLANTED)
Today (Friday 20th June) sees British singer-songwriter, Jeorgia Rose release her deluxe version of her 2024 album, Blooming called Blooming (Where She's Planted). The deluxe version of Blooming (Where She's planted) features an extra 3 tracks.
Hello Jeorgia, it's wonderful to speak with you again this year. How are you feeling about Blooming (Where She's Planted) being released?
Thank you so much! Honestly, I am feeling a mix of excitement and gratitude. “Blooming (Where She's Planted)” feels like the most authentic thing I have ever put out and I'm truly so proud of this project. Weirdly, I've grown a lot in the months since the original album dropped, and I think the deluxe edition in a way captures that. These 3 songs feel like the perfect final petals.
You released the original Blooming album in September last year, would make you want to create a deluxe version?
I kind of always knew “Blooming” was going to have a deluxe edition. I knew that I didn't want the journey to be over just yet. The response to this album was so special, and I knew there was still songs in me that belonged to this chapter. When I went back out to Nashville in February, I was specifically writing songs with the deluxe in mind. It felt only right to expand on Blooming - especially for the people that connected so much with it.
How did you decide on what new songs would feature on this version of the album?
I kind of know when I’m writing what feels cohesive, which is something I tried really hard to do on Blooming and something that was super important to me, so it was actually quite easy for me to decide what songs went on the deluxe because it was almost just a feeling. I picked tracks that I not only felt fit with the album but also tracks that continued the themes of growth, identity, and resilience but from a more grounded, confident place. These definitely aren't just extras, they are a part of the story.
I am really interested to know how you decided on the name Blooming (for the original release) and then Blooming (Where She's Planted) for the deluxe version?
Blooming was always about stepping into who I am, as an artist, as someone navigating growing from a teenager into an adult, and as someone finding her voice. I'd also written the songs over a few years so I liked the idea that the songs themselves were kind of showing how I had bloomed over that time. The famous phrase “bloom where you're planted” stuck with me for a long time. I've been splitting my time between the UK and Nashville, constantly writing, adjusting, learning and growing. Blooming (where she's planted) felt like the perfect evolution of that idea - not just blooming but owning where I am and making the most of every space I'm in.
Personally, I am really excited to have a full studio version of Boots Back, what was the inspiration behind the song?
Boots Back is such a fun one. It actually started as a story somebody close to me told me. She'd left her boots at an ex's house after a rebound kind of relationship, and all she cared about was getting them back, not the guy! I loved how real and funny that was, so I turned it into a song. The more I played it, the more I realised how many people - including me - have that one thing they left behind and just want back.
How would you sum up Blooming (Where She's Planted) in 3 words?
Honest, transitional and grounded.
If you don't mind I'd like to ask you a few Quick Fire Questions;
Easiest song to write? Boots Back.
Hardest song to write? Let My Body.
Favourite song you have written on this album? This is the hardest question as I love them all so much. It changes all the time but at the moment I'm listening a lot to Confetti, Too Far Gone and Snowflake.
Do you prefer to write happy or sad songs? I love both but probably the sad songs.
Do you mostly write the chorus first or did you write the hook first? I typically like to write the chorus first but it’s different for every song.
Favourite song from the album to perform? Acoustically, probably “Making Lemonade” however, with a band, I’d say “My Kinda Man”.
I couldn't let you go without asking about C2C, how did you find performing at the festival?
Performing at C2C was honestly a dream come true, it sounds dramatic but it’s been a bucket list festival of mine for so long. Just being around the atmosphere and all that talent was amazing. The energy was incredible - everyone there genuinely loves country music which is so nice to see in the UK on such a big scale, and you can feel that from the moment you walk in. I’m hoping and praying I'll be lucky enough to play next year as well.
What was the reaction like to your songs? Your sets looked full.
I was blown away, truly. I saw a few people singing along to songs I've written in my bedroom which is just surreal. Boots Back and Table For One were exciting to play as I'd never played them live before. The crowds were full, warm and loud in the best way. It made me feel so connected to people who have been listening and following the journey as well as connecting with new people. It's the kind of feeling that keeps you going.
Finally, what are you plans for the rest of 2025?
We'll see what the future holds. Just trying to keep the momentum going. I've got a few more shows lined up, another trip back to Nashville in store, and I may or may not be already thinking/writing for the next project. Expect more music, more shows, more stories, and definitely more boots!
Thank you very much for your time. Let's not leave it so long to chat again.
Thank you so much.
