HOLLYOAKS AT 25 REVISITED THE LISA HUNTER STORYLINE

Hollyoaks Favourites which started last week on E4 in space of Hollyoaks being off air back until September but with Hollyoaks turning 25 in October it's been wonderful to look back on many of its incredible episodes!

Last week's episodes saw it's wonderful Water Tank stunt from 1999 with Tony Hutchinson, Lucy Benson, Ruth Osborne, and Lewis Richardson as they tried to escape, what wonderful episodes they were. These scenes were fabulous to see as all of there stunts from 21 years.

Thank you Hollyoaks for revisiting the DON'T FILTER FEELINGS campaign

In this week's episodes from 2002 saw Gemma Atkinson return to ours screens as Lisa Hunter's S.H. Storyline was revisited with such harrowing scenes but ones that raised so much awareness of the issue (even before Social Media Hollyoaks were fantastic at raising so much awareness on taboo subjects).

In the first episode of the week for this storyline, Hollyoaks viewers saw Prom Night arrive for Lisa Hunter which sees her boyfriend, Brian keeping a secret from her which was outed in the middle of Lisa's surprise for Brian on the stage. However, before all of this Lisa was seen being helped to get ready by her friend which she left looking amazing after she was seen worrying about her appearance originally.
During the prom evening, I just wish Lisa knew what others in the room were saying about her.
Made me realise how much I miss Carley Stenson and Sarah Baxendale (Steph Cunningham, Ellie Hunter) on my screen.
Back inside at the prom, Lisa was looking very confident on that stage which led to one of the most hated scenes of the episode when Steph spoiled Lisa's singing by revealing the secret her boyfriend, Brian had leading to Lisa running off home in tears. The devastation on Lisa's said it all.

In Tuesday's episode to Hollyoaks village, viewers saw how supportive Lisa's sibling Ellie, and Dan were to her especially after Ellie was the one who discovered her scar after Lisa's boyfriend, Brian popped around to see her as she want to check on her following on from Brian storming out after confessing why Lisa was sad. I like how supportive Ellie is towards Lisa as she openly opened up about prom night and all that happened. Lisa is breaking my heart in this scene.
Ellie is determined to get her sister the help she deserves for her issues - the feelings Lisa is feeling make heart-breaking viewing even after 20 years. Ellie then telling her sister to be as emotional as she needs is something that made me realise once again how much of a difficult and sensitive topic this storyline was, and still is!
One of the scenes that broke my heart in many ways on the final scene with Ellie talking to her brother, Dan about Lisa and their next move to help her which shows everyone what an incredibly supportive lot of siblings the Hunters were especially as Lisa started to look seriously unwell - I am just grateful Lisa finally decide to accept the help Ellie and Dan offered her.

Then in Wednesday's episode, viewers saw the episode start with Mamba no 5 in a nostalgia scene before Zara Morgan tells Abby Davies about Lisa's hospital trip leading to Abby telling Zara to do the right thing as hard as it is. Moments later, Dan was seen telling Lee Hunter about Lisa's injuries which shocks him where seconds later Lisa is seen apologising to her sister, Ellie I adore their sibling bond, and the fact that despite everything Ellie is there for her - Ellie is one underrated character.
Another emotional scene of the episode tonight saw Lisa look in her bedroom mirror thinking that she's not good enough as her brother, Lee walks in with a TV for her. Like how Lee wants to help Lisa.
One thing that annoyed me in this episode was the fact that Steph Cunningham went one step too far pretending to be someone from school despite only wanting it to get revenge on Lisa especially as it lead to a catfight with Zara for upsetting her friend. Just glad that Zara finally stood up for Lisa in the fight which led to Abby telling her dad about Lisa's situation in a wonderful scene full of words of wisdom about how Lisa could be feeling.
In the second from final scene viewers saw Ellie, Lee, and Dan enter their sister, Lisa's room where she opens up to them before storming out handing Ellie a book featuring some poems. Can't begin to imagine what Lisa is going through.

In the final scene of the episode, Lisa was seen sat on a bench with Abby's dad where they were talking. “Lots of people want to help you, you just need to give yourself permission to be helped”. This scene was heart-breaking viewing but one that needed to be shared.

In last night's episode, viewers saw the storyline continue in Hunter house where Lee was seen checking on his sister within the first scene as Dan was about to do the same as Lee leaved her room.
Moments later, Lisa is seen entering the kitchen as Dan, and Lee were seen arguing. Forgot how much I love the Hunter siblings.
A few scenes later, Lisa, Lee, and Dan were seen to be cleaning the house as their dad, Les walked in a little surprised with his children doing the chores. Love the Hunter family dynamic.
Back in the village, Lisa was seen to be with Lee after her stormed out of the house where they were seen talking about everything that's happened. Lisa's emotional state is hard hitting viewing.
In the final scene of the episode, Des was once again quick to notice something is going on between the siblings, but it's obvious that he knows they are hiding something big from him.

Tonight's episode (Friday), viewers saw Lisa enter the kitchen of her family home where her sister, Ellie and Dad, Les are looking worried but I love how Ellie is also supporting Lisa - then we saw a caring Dan checking up on his sister.
A couple of scenes later, Ellie sees Brian wanting a word with him as she bumps into Dan who is worried, but once Ellie sees him again she is quick to have some words with him over his behaviour towards Lisa. Love seeing Ellie support her sister no matter what!
Back in the Hunters living room, Ellie is talking to Lisa who's at the piano looking sorry for herself as she hears Dan say Ellie had a few words with Brian - which left Lisa even more determined to hear he's side of the what happened.
In one of the final scenes of the episode, Lisa was seen in the hall where Brian was band rehearsing where she was seen directly talking to Brian about how she is really feeling. Seconds later, Brian and Lisa were seen talking about what happened with some harsh words being shared between the pair - harsh words Brian but it's no excuse what you do to Lisa. This made very uncomfortable viewing for many but the episodes were ones that needed to be shown to raise awareness. The emotions from Gemma's delivery of dialogue was just perfect!

I would so love for Gemma Atkinson to return as Lisa even if it was only for a couple of episodes.

I hope this week's episodes have shown everyone what an incredible actress, Gemma Atkinson is and always has been in my opinion.
