Happy Wednesday!

Today (24th April) sees Hailey Miller release her debut single The One. I recently had the opportunity to catch up with her to discuss her debut single and Hailey is one of the sweetest people I have had the chance to interview and I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did doing it.

Good Afternoon, Hailey. Thank you so much for agreeing to this interview with me.
How are you?
Of course! I’m doing great. I’m so happy to be chatting with you today!
Glad you're doing well. (I smile)
Before we go any further, could I please ask you to introduce yourself to our readers?
Absolutely. Hi readers! My name is Hailey Miller, and I’m a 19 year old Country singer/songwriter based out of Nashville, Tennessee. I'm originally from Oregon, but I’ve been singing and writing since before I can remember. I am so thrilled to now be pursuing a career in music city, doing what I love.
You recently released your debut single The One, and I was wondering if you could tell us a little about it?
I wrote The One, one night, solo in my bedroom here in Nashville. It kind of started as me throwing a pity party for myself, haha. I was reflecting on a super up and down relationship that was apart of my life for over 2 years and was finally coming to an end. I picked up my guitar and song just kind of came to me. It’s basically about how your first love isn’t always your last, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t important. Sometimes you’re just the one who teaches the other person how to act right when the final “One” comes around, and that’s okay. It doesn’t make the love/emotion you felt at the time mean any less. It’s honest and vulnerable. It’s nostalgic and kind of sad, but also kind of hopeful. It’s a different kind of breakup anthem. I really hope people can connect with it.
I am absoultely love this song so much that I am intrigued to know how long it could you to write?
Thank you so much! Like I said, this song was really spur of the moment. Sometimes I sit down with the intention to write, but I didn’t do that with this one. I wasn’t even really sure of what I was writing until it was finished. I think that’s why it feels so genuine. It was completely done in probably around 40-45 minutes!

There is something so incredibly moving about your vocal ability which moved me throughout. Thank you for showing us this.
Oh my goodness, thank you so much! What a compliment. Means the absolute world.
My pleasure, Hailey.
And when was the moment you decided to release The One as a single?
I knew I wanted to release this song when I realized it gave me closure on something I’d been struggling with for a long time. I felt so much peace after finishing it, and the idea of bringing that peace to someone who might be struggling with the same thing – well that was all I needed. I decided to record it just a few days after I wrote it.
I also ask this because it intrigues me but I am wondering how long the writing and recording process for The One was like all in all?
The writing/recording process was fairly quick with this one! I wrote it in late November (of 2018), got my wonderful producer Simon Gugala on board, and we were pretty much done tracking by mid-December. We got guys to come in and play bass, drums, and guitar….put my vocal down, and then Simon added his finishing touches! It was finished the first week of February!
Oh wow, that is a super quickly and speedy process.
Does releasing The One mean that we can expect an EP soon?
I have lots of music that I would love to put out in the near future…which very well could be in the form of an EP! I’m working on lots of new stuff, but you guys are just gonna have to wait to find out!!

And finally before I let you go I have to ask you about your plans for 2019?
I’ll be playing as many shows as I can, and writing/creating lots of music in 2019! I’m hoping to release at least another single or two, if not an EP by the end of the year. If you want to stay updated, feel free to checkout my website or any of my socials (see below). Everything will be super up to date on those, and that’s where you’ll find any big announcements!
