Happy Tuesday!

I was very lucky to interviewed the wonderful Mairead a few weeks ago. Mairead is a UK singer/ song-writer and here it is and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I loved it!

Hello Mairead. Thank you for agreeing to this introducing you to interview with us.

Firstly could we ask you to introduce yourselves?
Hi! My name is Mairead Furlong & I'm an Irish born alternative country singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based over in the UK.

How old were you were you decided to start writing your own songs? And when did you write and perform your first song?
As far back as I can remember, I was always putting a pen to paper but my songs really didn't come to life until I taught myself how to play the guitar when I was 18 years old. The first song I wrote on the guitar was called "Snowflakes & Butterflies" which is actually going to feature on my debut album out later this year.

Where did you first perform any of yours songs and how old were you?
My first live performance of my original material was on a stage in China when I was nineteen. I was performing as a violinist for a dance tour out there and the organisers discovered that I could also sing so they stuck me on stage the following night. I remember being SO nervous and also wondering how the audience would perceive country music out there, but they were so receptive and really seemed to enjoy it!

What is your favourite country song and who is your favourite country artist (can be more than one)?
I'm inspired by so many female country artists & songwriters these days. The likes of Dolly Parton, Miranda Lambert, Alison Kraus! There are so many song's that I adore and it's too hard to pick just one but right now I am loving Kacey Musgraves new album 'Golden Hour' and my favourite tracks on that are 'Slow burn', 'Love is a wild thing' & 'Rainbow'.

What is the most inspirational song you have heard?
I love Maddie & Tae's song 'After the storm blows through'. That song gives me all the feels and really got me through a difficult period in my life.

So Mairead, are you planning on releasing any music in 2018? If so, when?
I have a new single called 'Pinocchio' coming out April 27th which I also play fiddle on so I am really excited about this one! I am also half way through recording my album which you can expect to come out later this year.

Can we expect a tour from you at some point in 2018?
Well I'm actually joining 3 other female country artists on tour next month. The tour is called "Write Like A Girl" and it is all about showcasing the talent and songwriting ability of different female country artists throughout the UK. Also planning to take a trip over to Nashville when the record is done and play a bunch of shows over there. I will keep you posted! In the meantime head on over to my website to keep up to date with everything I'm doing -

Thank you so much for your time.
Thank you xx
